Back in June a word was spreading that Compton rapper Game inked a deal to bring BWS to YMCMB, although at the time the rumor was not true, seemingly in the future the rumor will become reality.
In a interview with XXL, Game says he speaks to Birdman everyday, and has been in good with the Cash Money CEO before the release of his debut album The Documentary, and he is hoping to bring his talents to the YMCMB camp after his deal is finalized with Interscope, and he will owe the label one more album after he releases R.E.D.
“We been playing with the idea of going over to Cash Money or trying to marry that and Black Wall Street.”
Game added:
“So, we’ll figure it out before the end of the day. I definitely think that’s where I’ll probably end up. Cause they winning, they want to win and I been winning and want to continue to win.”
Game’s new album R.E.D hits stores on August 23rd.

best place for any artist if you dont get one of babys dodgy deals, put your album out whenever the fuck you want to put it out

;D ;D

Cash Money is a good label. Birdman is rich as fuck, n brakes bread wit the artists jus like Master P did. never heard any complaints about em, except Teena Marie who said they didnt push R&B well over there.
i remmebr Dogg Pound were goin to reales the "West Coast aftershock"-album over there, but Birdman & Slim couldnt come up wit the all of the requested cash at d end of the day
-
Wow, going from Aftermath/Interscope to Cash Money??? Is that a fuckin joke? I know he doesn't like all the bullshit with Interscope (which we still don't even know if he's on them or Geffen) That would seriously be the end of his career if he even has one after this last album. I'm sorry, but I watched this guy go from the top of the rap world in '05, as probably my favorite rapper with some of the greatest shit around, to this trash he's been making lately, and these retarded decisions he's been making, and it's actually pretty fucked up to see that all happen.
-
I don't think this is good move, he was goood on Aftermath/Interscope plus Cash Money got only fake artists, yeah I know they'll put out your stuff in time and not pushing it back by years, but Aftermah got DRE who has lot of money, only he's a perfectionist but make your album go platinum+. I hope R.E.D. will go platinum & Game changes his mind.

Huh? LOL. Drake, Lil Wayne & Nicki Minaj are getting bread "broke" because they're really popular. Ask those other dudes over there. Heck, ask any former Cash Money artist how they were treated (Mannie Fresh, TQ, Juvenile, B.G, etc) They all left for a reason

dont think so.
Glasses Malone caked up like a mudauca over there
dunno the story wit TQ tho

I saw this deal coming a mile away.
Its dope from a getting your album released whenever / more exposure standpoint. But sucks because Game needs structure, he'd have too much freedom over there and I can see him trying too hard to be a southern artist.
We shall see.
-
I think this would be a good move, might get him focused.
Wouldnt be for a while if he still has another album after red he needs to put out before he can go.

This post is just laughable. Nr 1, Geffen and Interscope is the same thing. It's the same damn label with the same staff just different names, they're both ran by Jimmy Iovine and he was MOVED there due to the beef with G-Unit. 2nd, Cash Money is owned by Universal Music Group, which Game has distrubution with ever since he first came out so it wouldn't be that big of a difference with the exception of the music (maybe!). 3rd, how do you know that his career would go down? Because less than 20 Dubcnn members say so? Also, if you read the shit he mentioned that him signing with them might give him a label deal for BWS (Which is highly possible considering Menace just signed with Cash Money too).
Unless it effects his music i can't be bad. Because you know his popularity/relevance will only rocket because of his affiliation. But of course that's not something Dubcnn members want, they want West Coast artist to blow up without blowing up, relevant without being relevant and just be popular while signing a record deal with the local corner store and dropping g-funk music like it's 1994 again.
Ps: No i'm not a Cash Money/Young Money fan but i'm looking at it from a business perspective.
-
I just hope his next album will be the DOC - Diary of Compton what he was gon do before, as long as he puts that album out after red he can do whatever he wants after that. I dont think he's got much left in him anyway, hope I'm wrong tho.

PhunkyDoob said it all.

Makes no sense. For a few reasons.
1. Game's & the rest of BWS style doesn't fit CashMoney's style. Wayne, Drake, Nicki, etc. just come up with random punchlines & fill in the blanks around a few of those punchlines. Game & them try to make actual West Coast Gangsta rap.
2. Would be a bad look for him vs. 50, because we all know he still cares about that. After not even being able to get his album out, he had to run to CashMoney to make something of himself again.
3. This guy cried for years how he missed Dre & his productions & when he finally got back with Aftermath he was buggin' out & shit. Now he's looking to get off? Doesn't make sense.

Thats true and I agree, but why is it that since he's got back with Dre he's been puttin out some bullshit

Wait, Menace is with Cash Money now??

Another pointless post. Sounds good, but doesn't make much sense.
1. Okay i'll give you this point but this isn't something we know is gonna happen until it happens. If his music changes and his shit is wack then i can respect an opinion like that but he isn't even on and you're already saying that his music'll automatically change? That isn't fair.
2. Yeah i'm sure Game would turn down a good label move for both him and BWS because of what 50 might say. LMAO get real. In that case Game could flip it on 50 too cuz 50's having a hard time too (as an artist and as a CEO) and has made alot of desperate moves lately.
3. Check your facts buddy. Game hasn't been on Aftermath since 2005, and Dre still has beats on R.E.D. album how did that happen? How did Snoop Dogg get Dre beats even though he hasn't been label mates with Dre since 1996? Use your brain. Now it might be harder if he switched label of course due to the contractual shit but other than that doesn't mean he can't get Dre beats. Plus a Dre beat isn't what it was and he has made 2 albums without him (whether you like them or not).
-
Tyga and Glasses Malone are West Coast artists under the YMCMB tree and they still haven't released their albums.
Game will be the next one without a release date if he signs.
-
Wait, Menace is with Cash Money now??
Yeah its all but a done deal. Ain't finalised yet though.
-

You seriously gonna compare the biggest West Coast rapper at the moment (other than Snoop) with Tyga and Glasses? Tyga got an album out which came out in 2008 on Young Money. Game is 3 albums deep and has built and still has a fanbase to were it's easier for him to get his joints out. I'm not saying that it couldn't happen if he signed to them but there's a difference. Plus Glasses Malone's album is actually coming out in August too.
-
Tygas released an album already.

1. I never said his music was going to change at all. My point is that BWS & CashMoney have two completely different sounds & styles of rapping. Are you going to dispute that?
http://www.youtube.com/v/9udDOUjTBVo Vs. http://www.youtube.com/v/oS5wAr2UD10
You don't hear the difference between those two styles? All of Wayne's artists sound like that. All of Game's artists try to sound like Game & the song I posted.
2. Game tried to prove that he didn't need anybody (besides Dre really) & for Doctor's Advocate, he almost proved that. But now, he needs to team up with three of the biggest names (Wayne, Drake, Nicki) to revive his career? Game cares a lot about how people view him & it's just a poor look for him.
3. I never said he couldn't get a Dre beat. I forget the name of the song, but it was the first song after he went back with Aftermath or whatever. The first line of the song is how he's back with Dre, etc, etc. "Doctor's Advocate" was him crying to go back, now he wants out?
To be honest, it's a poor move for Wayne. Take in a group of nobody's that nobody will support even if you stamp the Wayne brand on their music.

1. No my point is that just because Nicki and Drake changed their ways to sound like Wayne (they were new and/or fairly unknown btw) doesn't mean Game will especially seeing as he's already an established rapper. So i'm saying let's at least wait and see how it unfolds if it ever happens.
2. Um yeah but him trying to prove he can do it without Dre isn't the same thing. That's more like the sophmore jinx thing. This is about him hooking up with a label that's doing numbers and him hooking up with them is gonna help him build a bigger audience which'll get him poppin. WTF are you talking about? Seriously? Seem like YOU're the one thinking too much about what people say. If it's a good business move you think he's gonna turn it down because people might say "Oh you needed CM/YM to get relevant again"? WTF. Like i said unless the music changes wtf should you worry about anything else?
3. Yeah "back with Dre" = "back working with Dre". What part don't you get? Yeah DA came out 5 years ago and he IS back WORKING with Dre on Detox and Dre has been working on R.E.D. At the time he couldn't even work with Dre and that was what he was "crying" about.
-
LOL cash money is known for fucking over thier artists. Why do you think everybody left? And they all said the same shit. And about four different producers sued cash money this year for not paying them for beats on c3
The backlash has started. Wayne said he delayed c4 because he keeps getting sent wack beats. Why do you think that is? Nobody wants to work with them to not get paid.
Can't believe thiers people in this thread saying They've never heard complaints about birdman or cash money. Do you live under a rock?
-
Would Be Funny If Baby Came Out & Shot This Down Like That Stuff Soulja Boy Was Bullshitting About Few Months Back, Saying Baby Had A Home For Him @ Cash Money & Shit Then Baby Came Out & Said That He Ain't Say Nothin Like That. lol Not Hating On Game If It's True....Just Sayin....Would Be Funny! lol

1 - They aren't the same thing, but are basically sister labels as you've said, but what I was saying (as i've described in the other thread) is that if he's not on Aftermath, not only is he a liar, his music will lack, as it has been since The Documentary (and before anyone cries about that comment, I personally think that was his best work, and as good as some of his shit has been since then, most doesn't even compare). And moving to Cash Money? Not only will the music suffer even more, but who the fuck in his position would make that move? I mean, disagree all you want but Aftermath is pretty much the top of the line when it comes to Hip Hop labels, like it or not. The only thing out of that is that your music will be guaranteed released, whereas being on Aftermath it won't. Still, for his sake, he is a big enough name for his shit to be released, so I don't get this move.
2 - With the exception of the music?? Isn't that what we're all even here for??? Back in late '09 when he claimed he was back with Aftermath and working with Dre and going to be making a follow up to his first Aftermath album, we were all hyped. He said Dre was going to be executive producing it like The Documentary, the biggest producers and features in the game will be there, and all that. I don't know how long you've been a Game fan for, but if you were a fan since at least '05 then I can't understand at all how you would think he is still on that same level (which I am going to assume from all these defense posts).
3 - In terms of Game, it's not just dubcc, almost everyone i've talked to, most comments on the entire internet, all seem to be saying the same shit, while maybe not as harsh. You're looking at it from a business perspective, but even that won't make up for the fact that his music will be at an all time low (think Poppin' Bottles or whatever the fuck it was called) from a FAN's perspective.
-
lol game stays dick riding and wanting to be relevant

Exactly what Im sayin

First off Game's 5 Album deal with Interscope is almost done. Now that R.E.D. has been mixed down and sequenced and will be put out in a few weeks, hes left with one last album on that label and then his contract will obligations will be finished. For him to start a deal with BWS to be on Cash Money and then himself following the last album could end up being something good.
We know that Cash Money has signed Cool & Dre as official in house producers and we know that Game is real tight with Cool & Dre and the Cash Money camp. So I dont think being on that label means his music will be influenced by southern style anymore than it is now. Game makes great music with those producers. Being on that label doenst mean he wont be able to work with other producers anymore. He can still get it in with guys like JR & Dr. Dre, the budget may not be gigantic like on Interscope but lets be honest, Game hasnt had a giant budget in a few years now anyway and still manages to get great producers on his records cause he has good relationships with them. So it might now be bad. What other options would he have? Def Jam? Fuck Def Jam they are a bad version of Interscope, all the drama with half the budget. Capitol? They dont have a hiphop roster anymore and they are a dying label anyway. Warner continues to dump all of its hip hop acts as well. Cash Money is the best place for him to be.
And to that fucking retard who said Geffen and Interscope are different labels...your a fucking ignorant moron. Interscope Records is the label and Geffen Records is a imprint on Interscope. Same as Aftermath is an imprint on Interscope, and Shady Records AND Konvict Music.. THATS WHY THEY CALL IT THE INTERSCOPE UMBRELLA. Dont speak on shit you dont know anything about.
Lastly I dont see Game resigning with Interscope because its obvious he is sick of their label politics.

I'm not even a fan of the whole Young Money or Cash Money label but these dudes be saying the dumbest shit.

And interscope is owned by universal

And interscope is owned by universal
Eactly. All these fucking labels sit underneath Universal Music Group. Damn near whole industry is a Universal monopoly. If you think about it hes not really going anywhere. Just different logos on the cd.
Here is the wiki page for UMG. This way all these morons can see how this all works http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Universal_Music_Group_labels
-
Cash Money is a good label. Birdman is rich as fuck, n brakes bread wit the artists jus like Master P did. never heard any complaints about em
Well, B.G. left cause of money issues. I think that was the reason why Juvenile left too.
I haven't been keeping up with Cash Money much after Mannie Fresh left, but before that every single one of them left because of money issues. Hell, Lil Wayne didn't even get royalties until Jay-Z wanted to sign him.

We'll see.

I never fuckin said Interscope and Geffen are completely different labels, I said they aren't the SAME label as people are making it seem like it's the same thing with a different name. Geffen is part of the triple Interscope/Geffen/A&M and that's who distributes for them as well. One is an imprint, STILL A CONSIDERED FUCKING LABEL, the other is the Major. You can't call that the SAME label even if they are owned and operated by the same people. That's pretty much like saying Aftermath and Interscope are the same label which is fucking retarded. And they DO operate differently. But of course you will still make it seem as if i'm saying something else. And not to sound like a cynical asshole, but I've actually dealt with labels and done courses on music business, but I guess i'm just "talking about shit I know nothing about".
The fact of the matter is once he leaves Aftermath (if he is even on them in the first place) the music will be released, but it will be shit. Why? Because it's a different fucking label.

Sounds like a good move to me. Not surprising though. There's been plenty of talks about it and even shirts with the "YMCMBWS" logo on it. Plus, as someone else said, it looks like Menace is heading over there.
Everyone was crying about how Game isn't signing BWS to a label and then there's talks of it and it's still getting hated on. Game is an established artist. I highly doubt Baby and Wayne can influence Game's style. He'll still be able to get the same producers as he has been. He still has 1500 or Nothin as in-house producers (I think). Nothing is going to change except that it will be easier for him to release an album.

Cash Money is a good label. Birdman is rich as fuck, n brakes bread wit the artists jus like Master P did. never heard any complaints about em
a lot of producers and rappers have accused master p and birdman of being not loyal with them...

Well, B.G. left cause of money issues. I think that was the reason why Juvenile left too.

mannie fresh left for the same reason....
birdman and (especially) his brother slim are two shady individuals, not better than J.Prince in my opinion (they just have more money).
3. This guy cried for years how he missed Dre & his productions & when he finally got back with Aftermath he was buggin' out & shit. Now he's looking to get off? Doesn't make sense.
doesn't make sense like most of his moves, this guy is fucking bipolar

I haven't been keeping up with Cash Money much after Mannie Fresh left, but before that every single one of them left because of money issues. Hell, Lil Wayne didn't even get royalties until Jay-Z wanted to sign him.
It trips me out that there have been so many people with money issues (especially artists like Juvie and BG, both of whom had platinum/multi-platinum albums) while Birdman is spending money like it's gonna rot. He blew $2 million on his Bugatti Veyron (which doesn't even look nice since it's meant to be a two-tone car, but of course he wanted his in all red), plus he lost the $2 million that he put on the Heat winning the finals. And then he was also talking about putting $10 million on Mayweather beating Pacquiao (if the fight ever happens), but that's a lot of money to anyone, even billionaires, especially for something that isn't a sure bet.
Suge may have fucked people over for money, but he wasn't being flashy with the money he held back on that kind of level.

one day the williams brother will be broke, or in jail, hopefully.
-
It takes a special kind of asshole to make million dollar bets while producers are suing you over unpaid royalties
-
Game's only chance of being somewhat relevant these days is if he had Weezy and Nicki and the rest of Young Money on the album so that is probably his mindset
-
This would be disappointing. Cash Money turned into a gay love fest when B.G., Juvenile, Turk and Mannie Fresh bounced out. They were on their way to being just another declining empire like Death Row, No Limit, Bad Boy, etc., except that they happened to catch lightning in a bottle with Wayne, who I think is basically garbage and was better going back a few years up to the Carter II.
The Cash Money discography the last 5 or 6 years has been terrible. It's been a Wayne album, then a Birdman album, a Wayne and Birdman collabo, a couple Greatest Hits compilations, Teena Marie... just... ugh.
Cash Money is really nothing but a parent company. YOUNG MONEY is the only thing that fans want to hear. Baby is the only artist that is exclusively Cash Money ha ha. Everyone else is Young Money. And if Wayne didn't get hot and wasn't making Baby millions, he'd be cheating him too just like he did all the older artists.

^ could these hatred have anything to do with Cash Money somehow still being relevant while No Limit is just a bad memory?

this is not hate (except the part about wayne being garbage), all facts. Cash Money were lucky enough to see Lil Wayne blow up like that. and nowadays Young Money is the only active part of Cash Money.
signing to cash money only allows you to be more visible, but then you have to put your music out or you might fall into oblivion. and Cash Money has been terrible when it comes to releasing people's music. look at TQ, Glasses Malone, Bow Wow.
not to mention how shady Birdman and his brother are. but I doubt this is true though, if DPG were turned down because they were asking for too much money when they were about to sign to Cash Money, I doubt they'll be willing to get Game considering he's probably going to ask for even more money (even though he has a platinum status that dpg no longer had in 07-08).

I don't blame Game wanting to hook up and join a crew. Game's been riding solo since G-Unit and probably want the support of a crew/record label and there aint many labels/ crews bigger than Cash Money at the moment.
And I'm not a Cash Money fan.

Nope, legitimately think Wayne is garbage starting with the Carter III. Anybody who's been listening to Wayne his whole career can easily see drastic changes beginning with that album. And no, that's my honest assessment of Cash Money and I used to have every Cash Money CD that came out up until the recent years when everybody started to bounce. And No Limit will never be a "bad" memory. And I am completely right that Baby was lucky Wayne blew up. These are the facts. Facts dictate that if Wayne didn't blow up, Cash Money would be on E1 instead of Universal. Baby hit the lotto. Ok, I shouldn't say facts because it's all wild speculation but you get it ha ha. And yes, Baby did screw everybody and their mom out of money. He'd cheat his granny out of paper if he had the chance. He's a grimey ass businessman and nobody except Wayne has a single good thing to say about the guy ha ha. That's why it'd be a bad move for Game's career.

They signed the deal with Universal in 02 or 03. That was before Wayne blew the fuck up; it was around the time 500 Degreez & Hood Rich came out.
Fact is that Cash Money was a dying label, but they (whoever 'they' may be) did something magical when Mannie Fresh left. One of Mannie's worst songs ever became a huge hit (Go DJ), then Mannie left and that is when Wayne becane more succesful with pretty much each single.
-
Your facts are way off base. Cash money signed to universal in 1998 and have been with them since.
400 degreez , juveniles album sold four million copies and is still the labels biggest success. Juvenile has sold a lots more records then Wayne has
Even at thier worst they were still releasing gold albums consistently,

Let me rephrase it: The $10.000.000 deal with Universal came to work in 02 or 03.

And they signed a 30 million dollar deal with them in 98.

Facts aren't way off base. Just didn't realize I had to run down the entire history of Cash Money and Universal Records to do a simple post of my opinion of why Game being on Cash Money would be disappointing. And yes, I know Cash Money signed to Universal back in the late 90's. However, success dictates whether Universal would ultimately decide to continue to go through with the rest of the contract, because other than paying Cash Money what they're obligated to, they don't have to let Cash Money put records out and can end the contract early if deemed necessary (they did it with other artists in the same time period including No Limit who was signed to Universal simultaneously with Cash Money in the early 2000's). Remember, Wayne started out as a platinum artist and then sales declined on every record. Go DJ came out and changed that, but Wayne still wasn't able to break Gold status till the Carter 2.
And no, at their worst, they weren't consistently putting out Gold albums, BUT WAYNE WAS. 2004 to present, Wayne was the only guy on Cash Money that ever hit Gold again, then Wayne blew up to multi-platinum status, Baby stopped putting out anyone's shit buy Wayne's (understandably) and Wayne created Young Money which in turn created Baby a lot of money and all the hits, gold, platinum they're all under Wayne.
It'd be like Dre not being able to do anything with Aftermath's artists, but maybe back in the day if all the Gold/Platinum artists were tied to G-Unit. (And since I know people will misconstrue what I said and say I don't know my Aftermath history, I will explicitly state this is a hypothetical). But it's the same situation. Next time I'll realize if I want to post on something I'll have my rap dictionary out ::)

It reminds me of when Mack 10 signed to Cash Money, then all of a sudden in the "Do the Damn Thang" video everyone on Cash Money was dressed in red from head to toe. This is going to be even worse.
-
i hope he dont go all auto tune pop sounding and have drake, minaj and too much wayne all over his shit.

Again your facts are way off.
Lil Wayne has never had an album not go gold. Tha block is hot went platinum, lights out went gold,500 degreez went gold,And tha Carter went gold.
In 1998 cash money released juvenile whic went play four times.
In 99 they released Bg who went platinum,The hot boys album went platinum, Lil Wayne went platinum and another juvenile album that went platinum.
In 2000 they released big tymers which went platinum,Baller blocking soundtrack which went gold,Another Bg album that went gold and lights out by lil Wayne that went gold
In 01 they released Turk who went gold,Another juvie album that went gold, and Mack 10 which flopped
In 02 Big tymers released a gold album,Lil Wayne released a gold album and birdmans first solo went gold
In 03 Big tymers and hot boys released albums that sold Under gold but juvenile released juve the great which went platinum
In 04 lil Wayne released the Carter and since then it's been lil Waynes show with other albums being released to varying degrees of success.
You clearly don't know what the fuck your talking about. Cash money has always consistently released goldand platinum albums. Few labels can stand next to thier success in hip hop
