I hear they're going to run out of FOOD and other various supplies in 3 weeks OR LESS and due to their currency exchange rate I find it amusing. I also hear that the youth are being affected the most, literally.
I don't wanna sound like I'm bitching about rich people or people with more money than the average person becuz they automatically get a bad rep from the jump (and let's face it, with blogs and other sources of mediums u know it's true... word to Kim Kardashian #nofakeshit).
But i just figured that maybe they would help since they make/made so much money. I mean i just heard Jay Z made 37million and Diddy made 35million (all after taxes i assume even tho that doesn't really matter in their cases whether it's after or not). I heard Snoop got on tha list this year too and Daz has been independent for a minute and sued Suge for everything and won so...
I hope this doesn't sound condecending becuz I'm just not that type of guy and I'm not all in everybody's personal finances like that plus I'm sure they fund other people's lives too in some way so don't get it twisted. But who knows tho, maybe they take the Northern American Negro state of mind where it's like "fuck Africa I'm not from Africa and nobody gave me shit growing up so fuck Africa even though it's God bless them in real life". I don't know, I'm just curious. Does superman reside in the cut and we never knew it this whole time becuz as a black man I honestly find it hard to believe that rich black people don't look out for poorer black people in 1 way or another considering the circumstances and cards we've been delt in life.
Maybe I'm just that naive, idk but do ya'll think they'll donate? Shit goes on everyday so in real life this is ordinary but 3 weeks or less tho, idk, that sounds pretty brand new to me and it's not like IT HAS TO happen. Is this wishful thinking or asking too much?
-
Basically i'm off some ''well they want us to keep supporting them and their future endevors and thats fine but will they support us?''. i'm not holding a gun to anybody's head but like i said i do find it interesting, true colors are kinda showing right now.
-
and i know Nas is paying out da ass for child support but do u think he'll step up too? what about Russell Simmons or Rick Ross?
-
homie im with u on this topic 210%..amill from every rich person would do just fine...but as long as its blacks starvin..the brain washed blacks, and white folks could give a fuck..
haiti just got forgotten, and the world been shitting on Africa, and robbing them since the beginning..just being real on shit thats all.

The sure thing to work in Africa is contreception, hysterictemy's and the snip.. You see the problem lies in the fact that they breed like rabbits over there. A women who can't feed one kid, has about 5 kids, with 8 of them dying in previous times. What kind of image does that send??? We find food for al of those kids, or do we stop these people from producing more baby's into a life and world of hunger, starvation and pain, and a slow death? That's the reality
As far as these stars go. They don't care... They only care when it's time to promote a new album, or product.. They go out, take a few pictures of them with poor kids, and give a one off donation, and be off back to Hollywood, and ask their circle of 'yes' men how much their rating is set to go up once their trip to Africa airs on TV
-
Until the people will actually get more than 10% of my donated money, I will not give a dime.
-
HAVE YOU GIVEN CONTRIBUTION TO ANYTHING??

Here's the reality of it all. If people really want to be problem solvers, stop pointing that finger at millionaires and celebrities and start asking, "What can I do'? Don't expect because people make albums or movies that they are passionate about these causes. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Jay-Z, or any of these other people aren't responsible for feeding the fucking world. If Somalia is your bag, get to donating. I remember Jay's line about Hurricane Katrina where he said he gave X amount of dollars but he didn't give his time so "in reality, he didn't give a DIME or a damn". It's naive to think throwing money at a problem fixes it.

Don't always believe the hype!
I seen a report on Somalia & FACT is that they have TONS of food supply rotting away & WHY? Because Somalia has no decent government & suffers civil war ran by Islamic integrists who prevent the organizations to distribute that very food!
1 those same integrists are also the pirates who attack, steal, kill & kidnap tourists & cargos in that area. So sending more millions that will be stolen by that minority of people but who run the area? THANKS BUT NO THANKS!
-
And the other reason I don't want to hear about is we can all blame the money people because as poor or even middle-class, we can skapegoat our responsibility by saying, "Well, if I had a million dollars". But here's the crazy thing. You don't need to be rich to impact poor countries or communities. Time is far more valuable than money. If you're all up in arms about these causes, volunteer to go over there and see what the situation is through your own eyes. You don't need Dr. Dre money to do that and it's far more impactful to the problem anyway. With money comes politics. Donating only works if you do your research and know where that money is going. Unless you can honestly tell me you dedicate anywhere near as much or your time, money, and energy toward helping relief situations as you do on rap music then you're a bigger roadblock than these rich rappers you're whining about.

HAVE YOU GIVEN CONTRIBUTION TO ANYTHING??
To a local charity, yes.
-
this has happened through out the past 30 years.
this is nothing new, but gets almost no media coverage for the lack of valuable resources and lack of strategic use.
-
Fuck that. That place is over run by terrible people.
-
Ethopians.somalian africans don't like black americans.so why should black americans help when its poor black americans that like them that need help.I think we should help people that need but we should take care of our own first
-

yea so they should all starve and die?
LOL the poorest bum in america is much better off than an average ethiopian/somilian.
think before you talk holmes

Doesn't 50 plan to feed Africa?
-
Doesn't 50 plan to feed Africa?
lol, he wont be able to afford it alone, security would be expensive. im sure the local warlords would take all the food unless distrubuted directly by US contracters or military personnel
-
J and SoCal are making excuses. Niggaz can barely keep gas in tha tank and food on tha table but yet u wanna try 2 flip tha script, fuck that that's selfish and delusional. Even if it's not on tha top of their radar they should still pull their pull, i'm not with that hypocritical shit. Niggaz be on tha mic talkin about this and that and how much money they got but can't even donate $50 to East Africa... i'm not buying it

Probably the most valid point made.
"If ya can't feed ya baby, then don't have a baby
And don't think maybe, if you can't feed ya baby" ;)

you gotta watch out when your donating stuff. Somalia has no form of gov't, you might be sending money to a local warlord who commits genocide.

so you mean to tell me that the mentioned artists above just can't hop on a jet or delta airlines and go over there and deliver the money themselves with their own security and all of that or some "trusted" connections? i think you're brainwashed my friend... just like i said, excuses. these are the same people that piss out $3000 bottles of remy and smoke $60 blunts and act like the shit normal and then say "your life ain't shit" for the next 3/4 minutes with a hook in between every 42 seconds. don't take this as i'm mad or anything like that but i'm just waiting on the 1st generation of rappers to give back to Africa
-
dr. dre will but not snoop or daz........daz is broke nowadays and snoop dont help nobody....
-
stop buying albums, stop going to the movies, pirate all that shit and send the money you would've spent to the people in africa
entertainers and the like will get the idea quick smart
-
this is not really a two way street homer. i say get that top 1% to put out a lot of money or give it to us foreal foreal. but since Somalia is mostly ran by Alkaida i dont see that happening. I just wana see people i've been loyal to all these years spend my hard earned money on something good for once instead of their kids or a new car. its not really that selfish or superficial.
-
maaan...i dont know what to type but shit this isnt something to type or talk about. think its a more of a do thing.

If you're looking for people to give money to Africa, cut out the middle man and do it yourself. I buy Dr. Dre albums so I have something I can bump in my truck, not because I'm hoping he will take my $15 and use it to feed Africa. It is selfish to ask people to handle causes you don't want to take care of yourself. As I've already pointed out, money is far from the biggest road block in a lot of these situations. You're feeling so noble, go volunteer. Until you do, point that holier than thou attitude someplace else.
-
I know what you mean. Maybe if all the people who made over 20k a year put $1 mil toward the USA despite the taxes they all pay, we could solve our whole national debt. crises along with other countries too! I would if I had that kinda bank.
-
Some people just don't understand how expensive it really is to volunteer. After I gave up my monthly payments to charities including Inspiring Children, and Action Aid (around £50 a month for those 2 alone) I looked into volunteering my time, and going over for a week or two to help out in Kenya. It wasn't cheap. The charitable groups involved wanted a ridiculous amount, then there was the flights, which weren't cheap either... All in all to help out, and give my time, I could have took my family abroad on holiday in the sun for a week. I tried different companies, and organizations, but they were all the same. You can't just hop on a plane, and wander out in the wilderness yourself. You need some form of security, direction, and knowledge of where you can and can't go. There's too many middle men in the way making money, and there's no getting away from it, or through it to help where it matters for ordinary people like you or I.
The reason I gave up action aid, and other charities is because I felt my money wasn't being served correctly.. Although the 2 I mentioned I gave a decent amount to. I had around 6 others, which I only gave £2 a month to, and every month I would get leaflets, small booklets, letters etc. and at Xmas time I'd receive a Christmas catalogue showing tools, equipment, etc and how much of a donation it'd require to get them for the people. I felt my £2 alone wasn't even covering the amount of administration costs involved in the bulk of crap being sent to my door wanting more, so I stopped every single one of them.. Now, I just donate tins, food, toiletries to my local homeless shelter every Christmas, and help out locally where I can
One rapper who does help out Africa, and who's been out there a few times is ex Death Row rapper VK. Last time I spoke with her, she was ready to head out to Africa again to help out. She puts in a lot of time in effort into that country, and she doesn't even rap anymore, so it doesn't always require big time rappers to give money away blindly

shits garbage & im not sipporting messy because he dissing too short.im not feeling that
-
People Are quite within their rights to say 'fk it', because at the end of the day, the general attitude over in Somalia, Kenya, and any other poor nation is exactly the same...
I have 2 kids. 2 boys, and we would like a girl, but you know why we don't try for another one right now? Because at the moment we can't afford another child, Yet these Africans can have up to a total of 11 kids, with only 4-5 still alive and on the border line of survival, and starving, and it doesn't stop them from firing out any more. That's the real issue here.. Distributing the available food is the second biggest problem. But the root cause of this is the use of safe sex. They really need to take every man (and women) from these countries and get them vasectomised, stop the birth rate, which could halt the escalation of problems. Probably no point in supplying condoms because they wouldn't use them... Once they can't have anymore kids, it then gives them an area to focus on, and a number that wont double in the next few years. We wonder why our resources to help are stretched, when they can't even help themselves. It's selfish behaviour
-
That's real talk, Mickaveli. At least, I can respect where you are going with this unlike other dude who seems to just want bitch to come off as socially responsible or something. Fact is money ain't shit toward a cause if you don't know how it is going to be managed or where it's eventually going. Yes, Dre or Jay-Z could throw out a cool couple mill toward some cause to get a cute little press release with some good P.R. but what is the end result? Getting a multi-millionaire to donate some money isn't going to fix anything. You need a person with strong ideas to spearhead it all. What is the end result of a Dr. Dre or Jay-Z or Jimmy Iovine or fucking Bill Gates or whoever throwing whatever amount of money into Somalian relief efforts? End result. They get good P.R. for a couple weeks and people still starve while they figure out what to do with that money. You can have all the damn money and good intentions you want, without stradegies to manage the problem, it's just one giant money pit.
-
Exactly.. People can throw a load of money at a campaign, but people with money are smart enough (or have people around them who are smart enough) to know fine well that a quarter of it wont even reach the people they intend to help.
A lot of these people do actually give out to their own charities, and their own ideas locally or in-state.
This is when diplomatic BS needs to be sorted out and have the public taxes, which are used to fund the military have them out doing work like this as in creating safe routes for the food, which is available already to be distributed to the people. Instead they're in places like Iraq, and Afghanistan on no-win oil wars. Here in the UK, our armed forces are at full stretch almost, and I'd rather have them in places like Africa doing good causes rather than out in Afghanistan. At least I'd feel a bit better knowing my taxes are being put to good use
I'll continue to get a big cardboard box filled with packets of pasta, tinned food, soap, towels, socks, and everything else and hand it into the homeless shelter here as I do every Christmas. My heart goes out to the Somalian people, and I'd love to help, but I know my donations wont really do much good
-
Why should they give a fuck about somalia? There are people starving in the U.S.
-
I can't be the only one old enough to remember when Somalia was "national news" the first time. It was literally the country we all associated with third-world starvation. This might come as a shock to Bildeberg but U.S. troops were even deployed there. As much as you think Jay-Z and Diddy could just go there with their security and enough food and medicine to handle the problem. It ain't gonna work. Though maybe Dre's drum beats could keep Somali warlords at bay.

I find it funny people turn to well known names to donate money. I never look to celebrities to give their money away. It's just stupid.
1. If you look to celebrities to donate $10,000 dollars of their money, then you BETTER have donated $100 of your money. That's easily the equivalent.
2. What does it matter who donates as long as the money gets there? Why not ask if those mutli-billionaires who give you the Dre, Daz & Snoop's of the World to donate an easy million to whatever you're concerned about?

These are very good points, CC. It's the kind of stuff I like to debate with folks. I've had this argument with a lot of people when it comes to "pro athletes" and how OVERPAID they are and I always make the argument that athletes are making peanuts compared to the people who run the organizations and yet we always blame them because they are the ones whose images are out there. But you really think about it. These are the guys who have to go out and start from scratch and sacrifice their quality of life in hopes of one day getting that big paycheck and endorsement deals. It's a little different with entertainers but it's still their blood, sweat, and tears that goes into their work.
-
^I mean, I'd take any sacrifice for that kind of money, but there are always people higher than those in the limelight that we never hear about who makes more than the Yankees combined annually lol.
-

But we generally only look at the rewards and don't know the depth of the sacrifices these guys make. The thing I tend to feel though is it's not on anybody to tell the next person how to spend their money, because they didn't help them earn it. If you buy their album, you can be a critic of what you spent your money on but that's where it stops.

Without question. & then who are you to tell a person like that what they want to support? People have to understand these celebs only donate to half the things they do because it's just a good look for their image.
-
I'm not trying to tell anyone what they should or should not support. Do some research and make decisions on your own. Anyone that is an "educated consumer" I applaud.
