I'm obviously way behind on this, but I was on Warren G's twitter and there was a link to an interview with Snoop that some dude brought to his attention and Warren G said somethin like "that's the motha fuckin thanks I get?" Not sure if I can post the link, but here it is. http://rapresearcharchive.blogspot.com/2010/10/snoop-speaks-on-producer-credits-dr.html
Looks like this was October 2010. Snoop says Warren G's latest record (G-Files) is Hot to death yet calls all his other solo's by him and Daz garbage saying basically Dre made Warren and Daz and they never had hit records before him, how Daz didn't really "produce" Dogg Food. Sounds like a bunch of bullshit, Snoop seriously trippin here. He should take a look at his own catalog before he says all their solos are garbage especially when Warren's catalog is more consistent than Snoops. (At least in my opinion).
And Warren G's response on twitter as noted above makes it sound like he wasn't even aware of this.
Just thought I'd post it up for a little insight as I must've missed it and for all you guys that caught it at the time it actually happened, what do you think the deal is?

Lol that's from a interview i did with Snoop in 07 or 08
-
Who cares what snoop thinks, he's clinically brain dead

you're talking about gio budden :loser:
-
Snoop regularly "disses" people he's supposed to be close with. He's always dissing Dr.Dre - did it recently again. I think he clearly means no harm, he's just somebody who speaks his mind and isn't too concerned about how it's perceived.

Yeah, that interview is LEGENDARY. Snoop seemed real pissed at you when you brought up the similarities between the Round Here beat and the beat to Stan. All that shit he talked about being a gangsta and not listening to Eminem was hilarious. Snoop was pissed. Probably high as a motherfucker as well.
-
Yeah, what's funny was he was just trying to bring up that they used the same sample and Snoop couldn't figure that out. He was acting like he never heard "Stan" before.
-

Thanks for the info! I knew I had to miss this, can't believe he says the shit he's saying. And to think that years later it seems Warren G didn't even know he said it? Ha ha. Wow. Good interview though, so props!

Imagine how pissed he'd be now if someone pointed out he used practically the same beat for two songs back to back on The Doggumentary

I thought he made some points. I mean whether or not i agree, he still made some good points. I don't see how that made him come off as arrogant and even if it did, everybody has their moments.

Yes sir! Nina did the interview and thank you for that because u asked alot of great questions that the fans been wanting to know for years. It's a cool piece, great interview. I don't take it as Snoop dissin' Warren G and Daz. I took it as Snoop setting the record straight. He love all of those guys. Why would he diss them. He just was setting the record straight. It's been in question for years and still is to alot of those til this day.
-
The major point you guys are missing is how stupid the statement was. Didn't he say some shit like 'yeah they made the beats but they didn't deserve those records because they didn't have any hits'
Gee snoop, maybe they would have hits if dre didn't swipe their best material away from them
-
Yeah, that interview made me wonder if him and Eminem dislike each other, since he disowned him like that, maybe jealous over Dre's relationship or something
-
snop was off that powder when he did that intervew,he dissed dre, crooked i,spider loc, daz, warren g & everybody in that same interview.
-
Daz & Warren G have put out way more hotter albums than Snoop.
Snoop has what 3 or 4 good albums ???

LMAO :loco:
how many good albums do Daz and Warren G have ??? Don't get me wrong i got love for both of them but they don't have more classic albums than snoop dogg.
And i haven't listened to a snoop album since TBCT !
-
I don't know about Daz because he has so many albums I've never even begun to think about where I'd rank them, even amongst his own work. But if you're talking catalog, Warren G hands down beats Snoop (at least in my eyes).
Doggystyle is probably better than anything in both of their catalogs and arguably the best rap album ever. But after that, I take Regulate... G Funk Era, Take a Look Over Your Shoulder (Reality), I Want It All, Return of the Regulator over everything else in either's catalog. Although up next I'd go Last Meal, No Limit Top Dogg, Blue Carpet Treatment, arguably Doggumentary, so, maybe it's a crapshoot (but Snoop has something like double the amount of Warren G albums so his albums are bound to bunch up at some point).
-
Dope interview... first time reading it...
Thanks!...
-
http://www.dubcnn.com/interviews/snoopdogg06/part4/ thats the full interview with links to the first three parts of the interview
-
Only albums I like by these guys (like it or not)
Snoop
- Doggystyle
- No Limit Top Dogg
- Tha Last Meal
- Paid the Cost...
- Blue Carpet Treatment (although I'm doing a lot of skipping)
Warren G
- Regulate...G-Funk Era
Daz
This is the Life I Lead
So no they don't have more classics than Snoop but let's remember, were supposed to be judging them as producers!
-
lol, Snoop got mad cuz Nima pointed out that we didn't like a few of the songs on the album. I always like it when the interviewer asks real questions and doesn't suck the artist's dick. That LAX song was trash.
-
Ha ha i remember this interview from back in the day, and Snoop trying to defend his points like a flipped turtle lol
-
Classic interview. I never listened to the audio, but i need to check that out and hear if Snoop sounds pissed when i got the time.
-

Still just your opinion. Here's my definition of classic albums:
Snoop
- Doggystyle
- Doggfather
- No Limit Top Dogg
- Tha Last Meal
Warren G
- Regulate.... G Funk Era
- Take A Look Over Your Shoulder
- Return Of The Regulator
- I Want It All
Daz
- Revenge, Retaliation and Get Back
- Raw
- This Is the Life I Lead
As a sidenote, Only On The Left Side is a favorite of mine too.

And out of all of those only Doggystyle would be mentioned as a classic by the average hip hop fan. Maybe Regulate, but that's a maybe.

Sure, but the average hip hop fan has never heard a Daz album and probably doesn't know Warren released anything besides Regulate :P

I remember reading that shit, it's old as fucc shouldn't even matter now yell
-
Oh shit G-Bee thanks for reminding me, I completely forgot about RAW. Add that to my list
But lol @ claiming warren g has 4 classic albums. I don't think any hip-hop artist has 4 classics under their belts, definitely not warren g!

Yeah, it's interesting. Nima got to the bottom of alot of interesting things that's been in question for years.

I'd say there's a few exceptions like Ice Cube (Straight Outta Compton, AMW, DC, Predator, Lethal Injection, Bow Down), Nas (Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic and Lost Tapes) and a few more IMO.

You think Lethal Injection is a classic? That album got bad reviews when it came out.
-
All Eyez On Me got crummy reviews too but everyone calls that a classic. Same with Eazy-E's "187 Dr. Dre Killa" EP. Though I don't consider Lethal Injection a classic, I don't think reviews are the only measuring stick.
I also don't consider "Lost Tapes" an album either but in terms of certified classics, I'd say Cube has Amerikka's Most Wanted and Death Certificate as well as group work on Straight Outta Compton.
Warren G and Daz have a lot of solid albums in their catalog but they don't have any that I think touch "Doggystyle". But the same can be said for the rest of Snoop's catalog. However, he has far more hit records outside of that that crossed over into the mainstream.
