Title: Nas Helps Cleanse The Doc, "I Just Did Something For [Dr. Dre's] New Album"
Post by: The_Ripper on August 12, 2011, 12:39:20 AM
Rap veteran Nas recently talked about his admiration toward music pioneer Dr. Dre and confirmed plans to appear on the Doc's long-awaited Detox solo album.

Although a release date has yet to be announced, Nasty Nas said look for his presence on Dre's delayed LP.

"Dre is the king of the gangster music," Nas told "106 & Park" host Rocsi. "You know what I mean? He's like -- I worked with him back in the days for The Firm album and I just did something for his new album, Detox, so I'll wait for it. [Do I have the inside info?] No, don't put that on me. [laughs] I don't have the inside...We got a nice record, we got a nice record. That's it." ("106 & Park")

Looks like this album is full of featurings and producers, everybody and their mamas have worked on it.
In the last couple of years how many rappers and producers said the same thing of nas ?

Everyone and their mama is producing, singing or rapping on this album. Dre's the only one doing minimum fuck all.

It's sounding like a tribute album to Dre.

I'm disappointed in Nas. I have a feeling dude has a lot more left in his tank, and quite possibly hasn't even reached his prime, but he's not doing shit. In this horrible rap era dude should be killing everything but he's just so behind the scenes its sad.

That's kind of my problem with everyone. There was a time where I was convinced that all these artists were just making wack music on purpose because it didn't seem feasible that the art form could have fallen apart that badly.

Honestly Nas is way better of an artist now than he was in 94. He makes a good album about how hip hop is dead. He makes a great concept album about the word "nigger". He may not ever put out an album as classic as illmatic, but you can see how he's perfecting his craft as an artist. You look at an album like illmatic and see its greatness, but you also have to realize that its an album where Nas as a rapper was still an amateur. His rhymes were unstructured and he didn't know how to stay on topic. And even even though the rest of his 90s albums produced some classic songs, we should all be glad he's not still in his fake thug persona.

^ agree. Exactly why I said he should be dropping more material. I'd like to see him as active as a Raekwon atleast.
