That's actually a hell of a question --- What is WideAwake doing now?

It seems like they had a decent amount of momentum enitially with their idea to open up the vaults and let the fans hear a lot of the unreleased Death Row material but it kind of went flat quickly. Laura Lavi, at least, seemed to have some strong ideas and enthusiasm with it but one of their big problems was not dealing with the "quality issues" that a lot of fans had with those early releases. That Snoop album sounded like ASS. There was some cool songs on there but a lot of the project sounded like it was dubbed off a fucking casette tape. They didn't much remedy the problem with the Death Row box set.  Now, it seems like every release since as met with lackluster distribution. When we got people on these forums like Effrain spending more time and effort on making these songs sound good than the jokers who are making money off it and charging us for it, something ain't right.

If they were to cut ties with the bootleggers I'd bet the quality will magically improve lol.

I wonder if they're releasing any rare videos or footage from that era. That's what i want.

Also i agree about the whole bad mixing point.

smh # that weird label, the only thing they r doin is releasin stuff we already heard. n the new/exclusive stuff, will leak anyway.. WideAwake is pointless imo, pretty sure they dont even have taht much material

Almost positive four of the tracks on the Jewell album will be tracks such as "With Me Tonight", "Black Diamond", "Harvest to the World" and "Woman to Woman"

I start thinbking that they don't really have much stuff. As you pointed they released stuff that people already heard wtf. I was hyped first when DR's catalogue was bought off but now I just don't give a fuck when I've seen their bullshit releases.

Was hoping for a Nate Dogg album when he passed, but I guess they don't have shit. I know that Nate took some material with him when he meft but still he has recorded a lot of stuff during his DR time.

What makes you Death Row nerds think anyone there even knows exactly which tracks have leaked online or not?

Doesn't some Death Row fanatic work with WideAwake? I can't remember his name right now.

??? I really don't understand why people keep saying that WA doesn't have that much material in the vaults. Obviously those people haven't seen the court documents with the Pacific Archives inventory list.

I agree with you.  I seriously doubt that they're running low on material.  They've actually been pretty steady about releasing projects.  And yes, while not every song on each project has been unheard, the majority of the material has been.  On the other hand, I will agree with the people who have pointed out that there have been a lot of issues with the sound quality for just about everything that they've released.

On another note, the mixing and mastering on the O.F.T.B. album is perfect imo. They finally got it right. Why has nobody mentioned this?

Good to hear this. Might be the trigger to purchase a WideAwake release

Because they put the edited version of "That Was Then" on there instead of the explicit version, which they released on the Box Set

I haven't got around to buying this one yet, so I had no idea.  That's great news, if true.  Will probably pick this up soon.

If I went to a restaurant, and they handed me my food half cooked, with last weeks side dish, and a glass of plain water, and expected me to pay the price I'd pay for better quality food elsewhere then I wouldn't continue to go back..

Until they fix the quality issues and restore trust in the label, they'll never be able to get to the heights they expect to be at
