Spare me the bullshit that he was this uplifting figure in the black community. That is the biggest myth around, if anything he was the perpetuated and encouraged black on black violence in inner cities more than any rapper ever. He knew how powerful he was and used it in disgusting ways. And I ain't even talking about going after Big. Which btw numerous people have come out and said Big had nothing to do with and some have even said Big warned him not to mess with the cats he was messing with because Pac wasn't built like that. But the fact he started beef with so many that had nothing to do with him and didn't diss him from the get go. Wishing death on other rappers and talking violence. He attacked a crippled rapper in Prodigy. Oooo big man attacking someone with sickle cell. And it aint a East Coast thing. He attacked Dre about being a fag. Why not let Dre live his life the way he wants it. And Pac is one to be taking. Remember ballerina Pac when he was talking about calling women bitches. Pac sounded as flaming as one can get. Wit the power of his influence, he could of led black america to new progressive heights. Instead of beefing he could of been the bigger man and showed the youth violence was not the way. Instead of Black America and the Maimon household being plagued by homophobia, imagine how far they could of came if Pac used his influence to accepts gays like Dre. Instead Pac hated on everyone. Pac was just a scared child who desperately needed a father figure and seeked it out in the worst possible person. Pac is not a hero, he is a a myth and on the perpetuated things his urban myth supposed helped fight against

word up! thats the realest post ive ever read.

2Pac was a charismatic figure in hip hop as there are several, but that's it.
Personnaly I just enjoy his music which for he was incredibly gifted and don't pay attention to the bullshit aside, but he was sure no spiritual leader or whatever status people try to give him.
But hey the man passed and get that hip hop legend status, people then start being fanatics and seeing Pac bigger than he was. Pac was no hero, no leader, no politician, just a controversial rapper.

Ignorance, ignorance.

Saying 2Pac was a leader or a hero is true depending on who u are...not a hero to me, but i did see him as a leader..The reason is Pac educated those who only saw him as a rapper but spoke for and represented for muthafuckas like me in a very honest way. 2Pac will remain as the GREATEST!! Fuck anybody who dislikes Pac and has bitchmade reasons for it...WESTSIDE
-
Pac would be a leader figure not during these death row days but certainly 5 years later .
as a black man and a future leader , he had to live through violence
-
this is a westcoast forum, if youīre not a lemming gtfo dude. you canīt judge our lord and savior Tupac Amaru Shakur, only God can.
and even he canīt now that Pac is dead, Godīs retired so Pac can rule the universe from his Thugīs Mansion , smoking blunts with Jesus . you can guess whatīs happening in hell. itīs gonna be Biggie vs Pac on Judgement Day, pay per view.

Although this thread is obviously designed just to irritate forum members who hold 2pac close to their hearts as an influence, one thing people have to remember is....2Pac WAS STILL A RAPPER. He wasn't MEANT to be Martin Luther King or Mother Theresa.
The guy touched a lot of people's lives, and with more positive influence than 99% of other rappers/musicians of all genres have.
-
im not even answer this one..this argument has been discussed 100 times....when its bothering u so much to write somethink like that 15 yeasr later, maybe he had more influence on u then u thought....

There's no way his music was more positive than 99% of musicians. Much of his music was emo and depressing, many songs painting a hopeless portrayal of life, especially his own. It's debatable his music was less positive than most rappers, let alone all the other music genres that don't focus on violence.

pac sucked.

I never said his music was positive. Read it correctly. I said he had a positive influence on a lot of people. Sometimes dark music can be the most therapeutic.
-
Pac summed this up already. Why isnt it hip hop when he have beef with other rappers? Pac music was so strong that niggas took it the wrong way. He not the one doing the killing. He just a rapper and was telling you dark tales about life. Pac get hate for attacking a "crippled rapper" but what about when Mobb Deep was beefing with 50 cent and Jay-Z. Rappers had beef with Eazy E and he had aids so does that make them hypocrites too? He called women bitches cause like it or not some of them are bitches. Pac never claimed to be the Angel you guys make him out to be but he wasnt the devil neither.
-
Even the biggest 2pac-dickriders aren't more infatuated with him than you are with old-school NY.. and any sane person could find a billion reasons to hate on that, too.

And what would lead you to assume that? Common sense says that negative music would have a mostly negative impact. Have you heard success stories of people who drew inspiration from his music?

lol you mad nobody has forgotten about Pac

You seem to be really upset at Pac for being "homophobic"...could it be because youre gay? Not judging just trying to figure out the root of all this anger?

Shock G: "How come yall don't wanna be Shock, I survived".
2Pac raised alot of young folk and help ease the pain through realtion. Got me through some tough days. I really don't listen to his music too much anymore dough.

Word.. it's like Pac raps... "Even the preacher and the teacher couldn't reach me/ I'm out in the streets puffin weed with my peeps". Pac was greater than Martin Luther King. It's nothing to find God in the Church. But when you can find God in the gutter, now you've truly found something.
It's like the Outlawz say in Black Jesus, "Someone who smoke like we smoke, drink like we drink."
All that preaching and teaching that goes on doesn't reach everybody, because the preachers set a universal standard for right and wrong, that does not take into account the unique circumstances of each individual. Ultimately, many get left out on the fringes of society, and they never reached by the "preacher and the teacher".
Pac had his demons that he battled with daily, and some didn't understand that, and judging from the threadstarter, many still don't . But because of this other lost souls out there in the world who couldn't be reached and were misunderstood Pac connected with them. Gave them a voice. Put their emotions into words, allowing them to hear in sound what they had always known at heart. When you can do that you have achieved something extraordinary and people will love you for it.

He was a better actor than a rapper, but no way was he going to be some big political figure that many claim he'd be. He'd be a big actor by now though if he were still alive, but he couldn't run for election. He was too emotional
I remember when people were mad that Obama stated that he likes Hip Hop and listened to Jay Z & Kanye, and upset at the fact that he didn't mention 2Pac. I think people take it too far. Listen to his music, enjoy his charisma and so on, but don't get hurt when someone doesn't like him, mention him, or say they prefer another rapper

Why don't you send Michael Eric Dyson to the psychiatric center as well. Because everything I said is all related to material that was published in the biography he released on 2pac in 2006. Yet Michael Eric Dyson is a famed intellectual with his own radio show that interviews the likes of Oprah Winfrey and he is a professor at Georgetown University.
...So maybe the problem is actually you being illiterate and having no understanding of artistic expression?

You and Pac have zero in common. Pac was emotionally violent yet intelligent. You are a fragile pacifist and somewhat retarded. Why do you listen to him? Pac would hate the type of person you are. A white male obsessed with black culture yet inwardly believing racist bullshit like slaves had it better off than free whites. Not to mention an absent father. He would see you the way he saw his own coward of a father.

good lord, lmfao . " Pac was greater than Martin Luther King." . there wouldnīt be a 2pac without MLK and such . you just think writing multiple paragraphs about souls, emotions, god and gutter makes you seem smart but in reality youīre just recycling old ass corny metaphors
