Larry Merchant needs to go though.

Money is spot on. But that's pretty hilarious.

And it sucks now that Mayweather went off on him, he's guaranteed to be there now. Oh well, the entire HBO crew except for Kellerman and Roy Jones Jr fucking suck.
How is it possible that Mayweather was seen as a straight up villain in this fight and Ortiz as a martyr? HBO commentators were more angry at Floyd than Victor was.

Because no matter what you think of Merchant he's in the defenseless underdog role. If they really wanted to make some money they would have done this like so many wrestling promoters had done it and had Mayweather get in Larry's face and start shoving him, only to have Jones Jr get in the way and then finish the telecast with Roy and Floyyd staring eachother down and Floyyd backing off. Set up an PPV exhibition match between the two and more people will buy that and love it than any boxing or MMA PPV in the last 15 years. This is what may Roddy Piper a star. And it's not like boxing hasn't gone the wrestling route before with Ali and Inoki, or Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick.

Because Mayweather IS the villain in this fight. Yes, by the letter of the law he didn't actually do anything wrong, but no true SPORTING man would have done what he did. Regardless of what went before it, he won the fight through dishonesty. It wasn't illegal, and he was well within his rights to do it, but not many people would have done what Mayweather did. His love for money and complete apathy towards the sport's integrity or spirit of competition is whats wrong with boxing.
Ortiz isn't a martyr though, he's still a guy that did a headbutt. At least he apologised though, Floyd just continued his arrogance and self-involvement into a microphone afterwards.

Nah, because majority of boxers and trainers have said they would have done the same thing.

That's true

So you're saying literally thousands of boxers and trainers have came out themselves in the press simply just to say 'I'd have done that'. That's what you're saying. You have no quotes, you have nothing to back this comment up other than maybe hearing one guy say it on ESPN once.
