Title: RIP Al Davis
Post by: D-Nice on October 08, 2011, 08:53:27 AM
As a Raider fan I may not agreed with everything he did but I respected the fact that it was his team, his way. RIP

As much as he lost it the last decade or so, this was one of Football's greatest masterminds and did a lot for the league for 30+ years.

He mustve had something left, cause the last 2 yrs and in the early 00s the Raiders have been legit.  I dont know who it was on NFL network, but they said it perfectly:  People who live in this bubble of twitter and "what have you done for me lately" mentality may think Al was a determent to his team, but you gotta look at the whole picture, and give credit to him recently too.

Rest in peace, I admire anyone who can stand up to others and do what they feel is necessary, and most importantly succeed at it.

I have to say, this is true. Al Davis forgot more football than any other owner, and many coaches even knew.

RIP Al, the Raiders will miss you.

It'll be interesting to see how the raiders identity changes without him
