Title: J. Cole Says His Sophomore Album Will Arrive In June 2012
Post by: The_Ripper on October 24, 2011, 11:43:25 PM
J. Cole most recently released his debut Cole World: The Sideline Story, but he’s already on to the next one. During an interview with Hot 106’s Rise & Grind morning show (via HHNM), the “Work Out”  rapper revealed that he’s begun work on the project and that it will also include songs that didn’t make his debut.

“I don’t know how many, but I got songs that didn’t make the last album that are automatically going to make this one,” he said, revealing the release date. “June. End of June, maybe June.”

In the meantime, Cole is working the new LP, which has spawned the singles “Work Out” and “Can’t Get Enough”  featuring Trey Songz. He also confirms that the next single will be “Nobody’s Perfect”  featuring Missy Elliott.

not a good sign if he's using the rejects from his debut for his next one

Don't buy it. Roc Nation won't let it happen. I bet we won't see it 'til 4th quarter next year

It takes a long time for a new artist to get a debut album out. Because sales are so bad labels want to be positive they have a SURE BET on there hands. J Cole isn't the only example of taking 1-3 years after having a huge a buzz to get an album out -- look at Drake, B.o.B, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, etc. - shit all of them took a long ass time to get albums out after signing there major deal. Drake may have been the fastest but then again he was buzzing for a LONG TIME before he even signed his deal. I swear B.o.B took at LEAST three years and look at him now - he's basically as big as it gets.

Same shit BIG KRIT and others are going through right now

But didn't B.o.B. disappear after he had his 5 mins of fame?

Not necessarily, could be possible they didn't make it for sample clearance, etc.

You gotta remember he was holding on to tracks like "Lights Please" and "Lost Ones" for a long ass time, I'm guessing these tracks are something special

I've forgotten about his debut already...in fact, the only thing I remember about it is the huge feeling of apathy and nothingness I felt for the guy and his music after listening to it.

Umm, no. His new single "Strange Clouds" with Lil Wayne was #1 on iTunes just recently when it came out. The new album also has Andre 3000, T.I. and a bunch of others. He's looking at another platinum plaque, Grammy's and a world tour for sure.
