Anyone who listens to g-funk or west coast hip-hop and sleeps on Dam Funk is missing a lot of great shit that they'd love. A damn shame.

Workout on J.Coles album was a dope Talkbox track, and there is like a ton of Chicano Rap...they even overuse the Talkbox.
B2Topic:
Aint nobody sleeping on Dam Funk its just that this Forum isnt talking about anybody if he isnt Snoop/Dre/DPG/DeathRow Related. Not only that...people think Dam is the only Funksta out there..which is not True at all if you like this kind of music you should Check people like B.Bravo (DOPE), AD Bourke, Devonwho(can be really funky from time to time), Computer Jay(Does alot of Music with Dam-Funk they even got a lil ep out right now). To go even further...if you wanna hear Rap over those kinda beats check this out http://eponymandesta.bandcamp.com/album/summertime-cool
Not on Dams level but very cool underground tape
-
I like Dam Funk but I'm not a huge fan of his music, it lacks a little something i can't describe IMHO. I prefer B. Bravo (his Computa Love EP is very dope)... am gonna check the other artists Scrappy Doo mentioned, thanx.

That Computa Love ep (and the Song too) are already classics....and i mean classics of that Genre.

J.Cole's Workout surely can't count as a talkbox record. The record it lifts its chorus from, 'The New Workout Plan' by Kanye West counts as one. That just copied the last portion of it for the chorus.

dam funks charm lies in his simplicity...i dig the whole lo fi vintage aesthetic.
his lane is kind of a niche but eventually that will change.

Thats partially true i mean he is basically the one with the most exposure, but there are a dozen other guys who are doing the same kind of music. And they all came up around the same time.
Check this kid on youtube...

Then there is this dude:

He is more into the Electro stuff but still some joints sound hella funky
If you love the Moog sound... Check this one out (Not really modern funk but super funky):
