Slimthemobster Slim The Mobster
Dr. Dre has pushed back the release of my street album #WarMusic to Nov 9th because he needs to finish mastering our collabo song

Aftermath strikes again lol. Interesting to see how this will turn out.

Next thing we'll heard is the tape has been scrapped because Dre wasn't feeling it ... at least we heard everything but 2 songs
-

im curious about Fallen star
-
I don't mind as long as the good Doctor get his hands on the tape.
-
I'm betting his mastering it will change absolutely nothing

i don't think so, he's a sound freak.
but it's still the same song
-
I guess it's not really a bad thing, since Dre seems to want everything he's on to sound as perfect as possible (regardless of the music). I actually like the song. Was it as good as it should have been? Probably not, but it's cool.
Also, it doesn't take a day to master a track, full albums can get mastered in 1-3 days, he may have really meant that Dre is mixing it, which is also good news. Either way, I hope Dre does something noticable to the track as mastering will only correct volume levels (which on another note, am I the only one who thinks Slim's vocals sound like complete shit on almost every track he's come out with this year? It's hard to tell if he's just using really shitty gear or they haven't been mixed properly or even mixed at all).

this is the new tracklist : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=220969204642988&set=a.201342983272277.47890.175314585875117&type=1&theater

Interesting so Dres got a production credit on "Back Against The Wall" now, looking forward to it

Anyone know how many joints Dre has produced and/or been featured on this year? Seems like each year he does less and less music... :-\

from this it looks like dre's going to work on the actual beat...extra production/mixing, not 'mastering' as slim put it. be interesting to hear the difference :)

Or maybe he had a hand in the original beat, but didn't get credit? As ironic as it is, it's happened many times before. Either way, it will be at least somewhat better if he does do something to it, hopefully on the production side. The song does have potential.

perhaps, which would make you wonder how much ghost production work he actually does for other artists/producers. somehow i find that idea to be less likely, jake one has been knocking out some hard, crystal clear beats by himself for some time. but who knows.

zero when it comes to "official album" in the production department ( only 2 beats on Game mixtape) .. 2011 will be the first year he hasn't a single production on an "in stores" release .. :-X
-
Lol a little odd Dre is getting production credit on there? Considering the beat already appeared on T.I.'s album and never had Dre's name
Unless Dre is changing the beat?

Hey, producin' doesn't mean makin the beat. It's about how the vocals are, the structure of the song etc. Ain't that what people usually say when they are defendin' Dre about him takin credit for other peoples work?

So no productions but he was featured on I Need a Doctor and Drug Test. Anything else?

yeah, me too

Has Dre not got to finish mastering his own album first. All these minor distractions.

So they say...but I thought a big part of the reason Dre is so highly regarded is because people always thought he was making his own beats. Puffy never got near that kind of acclaim, even though he was doing exactly that for all of Bad Boy's singles. But it was always known he had a team of producers working on all his hits. I'm going out on a limb and saying before y'all were hanging out on internet forums and reading obscure interviews about who made what, you thought Dre was making all these beats.
-
best scenario is dre changes the beat a lot and gives a preview of what he's done to some of jake one's beats on detox. pretty sure he was supposed to have a beat or two in the mix for that album? way too optimistic though :P could just be something as minor as tweaking or redoing the vocals slightly.

Wouldn't be suprised if thats all. Maybe some additional background vocals, little things different with the lyrics, im only guessing. But it would be cool to hear a significant change to it. My guess is he heard it on the radio when Whoo Kid played it and the prompted him to change some things ??? but what do i know lol

mixtape is up for download. seems like some of the background sounds were changed and the vocals sound different. pretty similar, doesn't sound noticably better.

Just had a listen then, definitely sounds a lot cleaner and I'm digging the background effects. Obviously nothing major though.

Because he's more or less retired. He works every once in a while just for the heck of it like a retired person does, but it's not a daily grind for him anymore. Anyway, I listened to this Back Against the Wall, and it's totally forgettable, imo. Drum patterns are usually money in the bank for Dre, but on this song, the drums are all haywire. ???

this is most likely the case. not a bad tape & I think it has really good sound quality for a tagged 'mixtape', 'street album', whatever.
dope! :pimp:

i noticed the bass was a lot beefier on a closer listen too. track still isn't that good though.

hows that 'untagged' compilation coming along, matty? did you say you had the video edits? i have 'take it easy' audio straight from the HD posted on the dailymotion site.. sounds a little different from the mixtape version, as far as mixing/mastering..

i think i read in one of these threads its going to be released untagged anyway. can't be bothered to compile it myself, only a few tracks from slim i'd bump on the regular regular, the main one being a track not on this, 'get your money up' 8)

It's coming, hopefully sooner than later. South Central Blues is probably the highlight for me
