So you mean only the eastern hemisphere? Definitely not Overeem. He's had one fight this year and looked bad in it. I'd say Cheick Kongo. With two wins he's put himself very close to contender status and took out the hype of Mitrione, as well as having the most awesome comeback KO of the year, if not ever.

for the award its the 4th quarter of last year through September of this year, as most awards work like this for whatever reason. so he also won the dream heavyweight title in that time. It was also before Kongos win over Mitrone...tho i thought that was a really boring contest and dont think that meant much for either fighter.

ok fine i admit it i made these threads on another forum in September and didn't feel like making all new choices.

As for international Brazil is basically MMA's 2nd home from america so putting that as an International category would be unfair. Between JDS, Werdrum, Antonio Silva, The Nog Twins, Gonzaga, Shogun, Machida, Thiago Silva, Cavalcante, Sobral, Anderson Silva, Belfort, Jacaré, Maia,Wanderlei Silva, Palhares, Santiago, Leites, Alves, Paulo Thiago, Cavalcante, Aldo, Nunes, Sandro, Fernandes, Freire, Fabiano, & Barao would there ever be a winner outside of Brazil?

just goes to show the eastern hemisphere hasn't accomplished anything in mma. I wonder why.
