According to the credits, nah. I remember hearin' rumors that Battlecat did somethin' on the album though.
-
I have thought the same thing for years and never made a thread about it. Wow. Thanks for making a thread, I swear sometimes producers use the same Rolands or what not and we end up hearing Synths mathcing on different camps.
-
battlecat was an inhouse producer for aftermath around the that time.
he had paper work with them, its highly believable they touched some of the same studio equipment.
-
Could be just the same instrument set for sure, but those 'woo woo woo' keys are identical, and Lets Get High is percussion heavy too.
I'm not conspiracy theorising, it's just a very striking likeness. Plus Xzibits flow on the track makes it almost sound like a bare bones Chronic track. Some nice stuff on that Training Day soundtrack.

he was in house for snoop. fred wreck worked wit dre for 2001. didn't make the cut.

you gotta realize, after "2001" came out, the game really changed.. that album inspired every producer in hip-hop to come with similar production in an attempt to re-create that classic sound. so while there's a chance Battlecat did do some work on "2001", there's also a chance that this is just one of the thousands of songs that was made to try and capture that signature Dre sound.
-
He was working with Hittman and Knoc alot back than too, and those guys were around Dre lots so most likely 8)
-
That synth lead is from a KORG MS2000B synth. You can see one in almost every studio session with Battlecat.
Dont think Battlecat had anything to do with Lets Get High though. More like a "tribute" kind of thing or something.
Ii always thought "Hittman - Front Page" (prod. Battlecat) sounds like a Dre production. That always had me thinkin BC had something to do with 2001.

Well yeah, but it samples (or uses the same sample as) 'Light Speed' - so it's Battlecat doing Dre?
-
Maybe the same thing as with "Lets Get High".. however i think theres more dre to the beat than just the guitar.
-
battlecat >> dre

Sean Cruse played the guitar on "Light Speed" and on "Let's Get High" too.
