royce

After finally hitting us with his official debut in November with the revamped “Rock City 2.0,” Royce is not wasting anytime with bringing his next album to the plate. According to Royce’s publicist, he is looking to drop “Dead or Alive” in the spring time.

After going for a more commercial sound with the original version of “Rock City,” (mostly due to the demands of Columbia) word is that Royce is taking back underground and making that raw shit again. He is using a lot of up and comers on the production tip but Royce brings the fire. Fear not, Royce is looking to link up with Primo for his lead single.

As expected, Royce will touch on his frail relationship with Eminem. The bad half and the evil half are not on the best of terms right now, and according to Royce it is mostly due to D-12 being in Em’s ear. In a recent interview, Proof played dumb to Royce’s claims and basically said that he is imagining things. Play nice fellas.

suge
In two separate incidents, two young boys were tragically killed recently and Suge Knight is reaching out to their families. Suge is flying Osyaldo Martinez’s grandparents in from Mexico for the funeral. He is also helping the family of Horace Ray Ferguson by aided them financially in moving out of Compton to a safer neighborhood. Suge may have a bad rap for many reasons, but he never hesitates to help out those in his community...

This ain’t about being White. This is about a motherfucker who sat down and took some words in his mind and composed them on a piece of paper and then spit them on a beat. And the sh*t made sense! That’s what this is about. He said it himself. He was from a trailer park. He basically said, ‘I was White trash.’ How could you knock a motherf*cker who says that? He’s describing himself. It keeps people from being able to affect him who say it about him.

I love the fact that I can see White kids in the audience. That shit makes it all the better. Because nine times out of ten they want to know you. When I went to Japan, do you know how ill it was for some motherfucker to tell me I’m the third top rapper in [Japan]? [They] can’t even speak my motherfuckin’ name right, but know all my rhymes. Because they want to study. Racism in hip-hop is not in the circle, it’s on the outside of the circle. It’s poking in through certain individuals.

When you get a station that don’t play hip-hop, and they play Eminem, that’s racism. Because Eminem’s records are no better than certain other records that won’t get played on certain stations. He’s a dope MC. But if they play Eminem on 101 point whatever, they should play certain records by LL. LL is a more radio-friendly rapper than Eminem. Eminem is just an example like I said, for a lot of rappers to cry like b*tches because their [title] fell off. And they don’t have an image.

How many times can a motherfucker rhyme that he’s in the hood, selling crack, he wanna get this car, his chain is big. How many times can you tell that story? It’s just too much. It just pisses me off to hear that cry more than to hear Eminem do his thing. ‘Cuz I actually like Eminem, I think he’s dope. If the Beastie Boys would’ve sounded urban, motherfuckers would have cried like bitches. But it didn’t sound urban. It sounded like rock, and it was wild, and it was crazy. If you close your eyes and listen to Eminem, he spits like he’s from the hood. You can’t see, you can’t hear what color he is.

ja and 50

Ja Rule and 50 Cent had one of the most personal beefs in recent years and talked shit about each other for months on end. In a recent interview with Launch, Ja Rule tried to downplay his involvement and lead many to believe that he wants to end the beef with 50.

“You know, outside of, you know, homeboy making his records or whatever, there's really been no talk from me about it or any records made by me about it," Ja Rule said. "It's been all media hype. All the stations, they always want to ask me about it. They always want to ask him about it. They always want to prolong it instead of just letting it die, and now the kids are involved. You got the kids running around, 'I'm down with Murder Inc.!' 'I'm down with these n--gas!'"

Judging by his comments in XXL, 50 views the situation a little differently.

"Now Ja--me and him have differences. He makes records that are good enough to sell some records. The only reason that I'd speak about him on a record is because he's an artist; a pop artist. I would personally whoop his ass if he'd like, we could squash this right now and go out back and shoot a fair one. Maybe Irv can come back, too. I'll whip the skin off Irv."

Ice Cube Classic's Get Re-issue - Dedicato 30.01.2003 - 09:57
2003 is shaping up to be a huge year for westcoast legend Ice Cube. Following last year's successes in the film world with both "Barbershop" & "Friday After Next," we can expect to see him in the motorbike gang-racing release, "Torque," a film based on the life of Robert "Iceberg Slim" Beck - "Pimp," "Stray Dawgz," a werewolf thriller and there is also "De-Fense," a football-centered comedy that Ice Cube has co-written and will produce. On-top of all the movie work he is back in the studio recording under Dr. Dre's, Aftermath Records, to release a new album around the summertime!

As if that wasn't enough for Cube fans, Priority Records are also re-releasing his back catalogue...with added extras! According to Billboard on February 25th they will begin by issuing "Amerikkka's Most Wanted" and "Death Certificate." "Amerikka's Most Wanted" peaked at No. 19 on The Billboard 200 following its original release and the new set is set to be repackaged with the "Kill At Will" EP included. The other CD due on that day, "Death Certificate," which peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold a total of 2.2million copies to date (Cube's best selling album), is set to include the bonus tracks "How to Survive in South Central," (from "Boyz in the Hood Soundtrack,") and also B-sides - "24 WRR an L" and "U Ain't Gonna Take My Life," as well as remixes to "It Was a Good Day" and "Check Yo Self."

Ice Cube's 1993 album "Lethal Injection" will be re-issued along with "The Predator" on March 11th and will also include four extra tracks. Those are remixes of "You Know How We Do It," "Lil' Ass Gee," and two versions of "What Can I Do" one being a mix by A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad that has never been released on CD.

Then on April 1st there will be a DVD released titled, "Ice Cube : The Video Collection."
