I think he's dope as fuck! He's pretty creative, and can definitely bring new heat for tha west.
-
As in many artists cases, I think most people will find him to be DOPE if you look away from his commercial singles..
One of the most creative and original Westcoast-artists to come out of the West for a long time..
-
he's just whatevers....nothin special...
-
I enjoy listening to his shit, but his lyrics and flow are pretty simple and IMO, they sound like he wrote his lyrics 5 minutes before he layed his vocals down....at least that's how it sounds on his EP.
-
I think he is nothin special. Str8 Westcoast is a very dope song, and Knoc does some great hooks, but his songs seem rather boring to me. but like 60% of this board hopped on his nuts like flies on shit because he was affiliated with dre. I bought his ep when it first came out, don't think I have even listened to the whole thing straight thru yet. I got all of his unreleased mp3's and I don't even think I have heard all of them.
dope songs:
str8 westcoast
let's all roll og and rmx
any of the songs that have slip capone and/or timebomb

He's dope. I respect that he's trying to bring somethin' original to the West Coast.
-
hes not just bringin a new aspect to the west...hes bringin a new style to all hip hop...hes probably one of the most creative in years...so underrated its not even funny tho...and his comercial singles...are just one..The Knoc...which was still tight...aside from that L.A. Nite n Day and Music were real tight...

Really Grundy-Loc?? Man.. I find him amazing because of his original flow and word play. Most artist out the west come with some portion of a previously successful flow.. maybe change it a bit.. interpolute their own geographical slang.. etc. But Knoc dont sound like nobody but himself. He doesnt try to complicate things by tryin to flip lyrics. He just delivers raw.. clear.. understandable rhymes. I guess I feel him simply because I can understand him. Im bummed at the fact that he didnt drop a full album and get the promotion he deserved. I hate to say it but I kinda blame Dre for that. Dre shouldve takin him under his wing.. and helped promote him along with Elektra. LA Confidential is a new label and they couldve really used the advise and support of an established VET like DRE. Its like Dre just did a few tracks.. appeared on a few.. then broke the fuck out! The West is too damn greedy with all these artists with fuckin imprints who dont really know how to run em. Niggaz need to click up and make sure labels like Elektra keep up their end of the bargen. My opinion though..

I don't know, maybe I just havent listened to it enough. I like his voice a lot, but his songs just never seemed all that special to me. Not bad at all, just nothing that makes me want to bump him all the time.

Somehow I have the feeling that you wouldn't have posted this during the period Knoc was hotter than fish-grease..
Rather a completely opposite post.. LoL

dope
he just needs to get an album out - he is talented and something fresh and creative that the west coast needs right now - but ill be surprised if he even gets the chance to blow up
-
ive been bumpin his Knocs landin advance that leaked on the net and that shit is amazing.......everytime i listen to that shit i get dissapointed.......i loved it when it dropped and i still do......that shit would have been a very close to classic album.....especially seein as it was and advance and wasnt done yet......but his EP is hot as well.....but damn i wanted that LP
-
He's nothing special, just an average rapper for me.
-
in my opinion, the future of the west lies with knoc, shade, roscoe and a couple others (of course with some backing from already established artists)
honestly though, if people like dre and snoop don't start helping the younger artists, then the future of westcoast rap is gone. if it's starting to get hard for snoop and xzibit to go platinum, then it's impossible for any of the people coming up as well. we all know about the record company politics, the magazine and radio station bias... it's just going to get harder and harder on the west.
right now the west is on some 1960's american shit, OPPRESSION. all they need is a charismatic leader to pull them together and break them through. all you hear now is snoop isn't working with dre, fuck deathrow...right there goes three major west coast labels, (not too sure about aftermath anymore) that are constantly in disagreement, with each other. while the rest of the west coast artists are like scattered soldiers.

knoc turnal is tight i feel his beats, i just think he needs some better callob, right now, his album was a dissapoinment for me tho, what is it like 10 tracks? anywayz he needs better representation, if he wants to be hot.

its an EP only 6 tracks.....but they were all hot.....IMO
-
he could be of the best, but he needs to drop a album with some big singles and get some air play, i like his flow and sound of the voice, he works with some of the best on the west. he just needs to drop a album.

Oh, you wasn't around when like 15 people on WCC had Knoc in their sig, and BigJake was a mod. He made a thread in which everybody with Knoc in their sig should pop into the thread.
The ones without Knoc would get their posts deleted in that thread.
Seer didn't have Knoc, put popped in anyways.
Then I think NIK or some other dude popped in, and his post was deleted, and then the brawl began.. it was fun.. ;D
