Title: Mini-masterpiece tracks/beats. What would you nominate?
Post by: Will_B on February 08, 2012, 11:55:15 AM
You know those tracks, you'd never call a masterpiece...but achieve mini-masterpiece status for doin what they do 8) 8)

Example of this for me would be the OG of 'Hoes A Housewife' from Kuruption.

Kurupt produced this himself and the beat is so 'loose' and unconventional, its still hiphop, but its verging on contemporary Jazz with a classical piano twist. Obviously Dre saw the potential of the track and took it to the mainstream with his signature sound. The OG is special though IMO..and of course the lyrics are classic westcoast now.

Next the beat for Knoc-Turn'al's Cash Sniffin Noses. One of Bud'da's best beats. This tracks more fun lyrically, the beat would almost go unnoticed if it wasn't so exquisitely done. Bud'da gave beats of this nature to R&B artists later on...Knoc got a real gem handed to him here!

Someone delete these spam posts^^

Better yet, ban them. :sign_banhim:

Next up is a gem recorded about the same time as 'Caught Up' when Snoop & DPG was fuckin with C-Note Records. Survive features Snoop, Val Young, Da Productz and Luniz. Like most of the Turf Stories soundtrack this was produced by KeyTek & CnH. The soundtrack was apparently one of the last Ruthless Records releases too.

Really interesting thing is the track was co-written by Frankie Beverly, and was performed by producer KeyTek and the legendary group Maze.

Snoop starts this off sayin 'its a C-Note style thing' and to me this sounds like part of a bigger recording. I mean Frankie Beverly, Maze and Snoop Dogg?! That shits major. And why would they hook up for just one random track anyway? Hopefully one day we'll know the story behind this one. This shit is bangin. 8) 8)
