You guys think Augustin will develop into the great point he was drafted to be? Don't think the bobcats drafting Walker was a good sign for his future there.

Augustin doesn't have great point guard skills....he's a good shooter and he fits in with the new wave of score-first point guards, but he aint a top-tier point guard. btw, he was drafted with the 9th overall pick...not really grounds to expect greatness in the first place.

I'd give a top 10 pick high expectations. Great was def not the right word.

Not an easy question , it really depends on what your team needs and its roster... that's why I'm not comfortable to rank traditional PGs and scorer PGs together ... You can't say Rose is clearly a better PG than CP3 or vice-versa since there aren't the same style of player

Teams like the Bulls/Thunder need a Rose or Westbrook to put 20+ points on the board when the Clippers or Celtics big 3 (in their prime) don't .

On another note , the most underrated PG in the league for years has been Tony Parker

On another note , the most underrated PG in the league for years has been Tony Parker

He's a former All-Star, current All-Star and Finals MVP... not too shabby... but he doesn't have the celebrity status that some guys have. Part of that is due to being not American, not being a sick dunker and playing for the Spurs I guess.

My favorite PG is Deron Williams, if motivated and in the right system, surrounded by the right players. It used to be Chris Paul, but his knee problems took a bit of him. He's still great, but that marginal drop is enough to put Williams ahead of him cause he was never that much behind him. Rose is dope too, but not really my type of PG. Maybe he could be when surrounded by some better scorers/players. But I'm not a fan of the inefficiency of scoring 20 points on 38% shooting instead of passing it to a nigga who is shooting 60%. Part of that is due to the players he has on the team, of course.

yeah I like Deron game too (though he could try more on D imo) ... and he's always shitting on CP3 when he plays against him .

He might be a Mav so I guess you'll like him even more

LOL...i dont get why u keep saying this. the greatest point guards ever = traditional point guards. what dont u like about that? its like saying u dont like traditional centers, u like centers who sit out on the perimeter and shoot threes.

i like scoring point guards like billups, AI (sg either or), rose, deron, etc etc.

but i like traditional centers. yea the best PGs were traditional point guards but i like PGs that like to score as well as dishing to teammates.

yea he scored 30, he can avg 20+ , but he'll still be a traditional point guard.

he scores alot because hes arguably the best player on that team, hes going to score, but thats not his style of play, he doesnt look to score hes a PG hes looking for them dimes.

billups, curry (he got alot better adjusting to be a pass first guy), rose, these guys look to score.

guys like cp3, rondo, klidd, they just dish dish dish dish dish.

i'd say deron williams is a traditional point guard..u gotta understand, it's nice to have a point guard who can score. but it is always better for the team to have a point guard who is looking to set people up, first and foremost. thats why traditional point guards typically gain the most success.

Yeah, like John Stockton & Steve Nash & all their rings. ::)

Rondo, Isiah Thomas & Jason Kidd (last year) are the only point guards who were "traditional" to win a ring in the last two decades.

The rest of the rings in the last twenty years were won by Jordan, Kobe & Shaq & Duncan.

LOL...Steve Nash never had a chance with that retarded ass Suns team+offense. John Stockton was one of the greatest point guards of all time, though. Name me ONE non-traditional point guard who was better than John Stockton...I'm waiting.

and yea, the triangle offense requires ZERO production from the point guard spot. thats why we've been so successful over the past decade...but Tony Parker has great point guard skills. without that, Spurs had no chance.

I'm not denying either are incredible PGs. But neither have rings. Therefore, by your standards, they have ZERO "success".

lol, okay, Tony Parker too. Four in twenty years. That's not very successful.

individual success.. we havent had a great point guard on a great team in a long time now. the superstars of the last few championship teams have been either shooting guard/small forwards or power forward/centers

If the history of the NBA has told us anything, it's that wing players & absolutely dominating big men win Championships.

Derek Fisher is an average PG, who can shoot & plays scrappy defense & has five rings thanks to Kobe & Shaq. Chris Paul is probably the best PG in the last decade & can't even get out of the first round of the playoffs.

LOL, that's some shit. Weird though, cause I know he was an All American, I wouldn't have guessed that he sucked in high school. Regardless, I remember being pissed off at the pick, I wanted Josh Smith. In retrospect besides Smith we also skipped out on Al Jefferson, JR Smith, and a number of other guys that lasted more than 3 years in the league (the fuckin goon couldn't even last in the D-League)  :grumpy: one of the many reasons OKC now has a basketball team.

Sam Perkins > any other Seattle player ever
Kendrick Perkins > Sam Perkins.

I may of smoked an eight within the last 30 minutes but I'm pretty sure that is correct

Nah, Perk could play, NIK is an idiot for that though. Robert Swift is the greatest Sonic of all time.

LOL...funny thing about Swift, I remember Big Jake of this board saying he used to play with him up in Bakersfield prior to getting drafted, and he claimed that he sucked and would flop hard....boy, was he ever right.

LOL, that's some shit. Weird though, cause I know he was an All American, I wouldn't have guessed that he sucked in high school. Regardless, I remember being pissed off at the pick, I wanted Josh Smith. In retrospect besides Smith we also skipped out on Al Jefferson, JR Smith, and a number of other guys that lasted more than 3 years in the league (the fuckin goon couldn't even last in the D-League)  :grumpy: one of the many reasons OKC now has a basketball team.
dont forget Humphries, Wright, Nelson, Allen, Martin, Varejao & Ariza

just like taking sene over Redick, Brewer, Rondo, Lowry, Gibson or Milsap

in the draft we took Petro in we took him over Lee, Bass, Ellis, Williams, Johnson & Gortat

as a kings fan ive been really happy with how Isiaiah Thomas is playing. hes not close to the top guy or anything, but man he is solid as can be offensivly and defensivly, especially being the 60th pick

how is it not Rondo
? you are acting like Rondo is on Howards level. Points are the most stacked position in the NBA. their is like 6 points that you could argue for being best (Deron, rose, paul, rondo, westbrook or Parker)
