Can someone name a rapper that could bring the westside back to the bestside. I could name a few, but i'm going to feedback on what everybody has to say.
-
I THINK ICE CUBE AND WESTSIDE CONNECTION COULD BRING BACK THE WESTCOAST
-
I wish I could say Ras Kass, but I doubt people will buy his stuff, and I had all kinds of hope for Xzibit, but he turned into a Hollywood gangsta. So I don't know, Ice Cube, nah, people don't take him serious, Snoop, only if he gets Bad Azz in the forefront, Dr. Dre, maybe in sound, but who knows if he can pull a saviour out his pocket yet again. I don't know, I really wish people would buy Ras Kass. Though 50 Cent is more a west coast rapper than Rassie, but that's all good. Go Ras Kass, go Ras Kass.
-
50 cent will be rappin on a west coast label... that will possibly bring an opportunity to a homegrown west coast rapper.....
-
The Game...Techniec...Bad Azz...Crooked I...Planet Asia...Sly Boogie....Dr Stank...40 Glocc...and many more
-
Fuck Roscoe, Im going for:
- Sly Boogie
- Dr Stank
- BG Knocc Out (yes he will return)
- WC (Hes always on somethin' phat)
- Calico
-
my runners are (in order)
Ras Kass
Crooked I
E-White
Soopafly
theres a few more i forget them right now.. label of the year.. iv life baby ;)
-
Crooked I is my only choice at the time....because of his skillz + Delivery + Anticipation + Tha Row nostalgia + and everything we have heard Crook spit on sice the get-go, he has never appeared on a wack track eva...IMO
I gott to give it to Crooked.
followed by Ras Kass..
The Vet's like Dre, Cube And Snoop ect...don't count cause they already transended the area....they are Bigger than a coast. They have become a Standard by which all West-side music is measured by.
The Younger Generation has to blow this place up....Pass the torch to CROOKED.

If by saying "That Could Bring The West Coast Back On Top" you mean.... "That Could Make Some Poppy, Industrialized Rap"... then I dont really care homie...
They tried to do it with Xzibit... tragedy...
Ice Cube never was tha same... Ice Cube's a legend and all but after he did "We Be Clubbin" and got on that Club shit... It just aint tha same...
I aint really worried about West Coast shit or any Underground shit on MTV... I'd rather not see it on MTV, cuz it's usually downhill from there...
And just to clear it up for tha people who think I'ma hater... Aint nothin wrong with a Rapper being successfull...just dont let tha money change ya... keep it tha same, keep it about tha music...
I'm just waiting on tha next foo' to Blow Up IN the West Coast... waiting for some new cat to come up out of nowhere and start some noise and get people's head turning... maybe Sly Boogie... but just anybody..
-
Sixx John for sure. Cant believe nobody mentioned him. He spit fire on that track he did with Nate Dogg:
Roscoe,Nate Dogg n Sixx John - Nasty Girl
He showed major skill!!!! With the right label and production he could blow IMO. He can successfully make the cross over and appeal to Easty fans just as well as Westcoast fans.

welll if youre talkin about bringing it back as far as commercial attention , then i say:
sly boogy
roscoe
crooked i
soopafly
^ those 4 have the talent, skillz, and charisma to bring it back. others have the talent but not the charisma that is needed for commercial success..

I'm tired of that 'put the west back on top' shit. it's the same story every year. By 'on top' peeps mean the most recognized or selling big numbers. It won't happen! The music industry is horrible right now, hip hop has been bastardized by corporations, and listeners don't care about reality rap in general, and certainly not the west coast.
Like the homie 909 said, it'd be nice just to see a few artists do real good IN the west coast. someone who all us west coast fans could say 'yea hes the shit'. fuck big sales, fuck videos, fuck radio (nobody will ever get on radio without major backing any more, they killed the radio). Just some shit we all like and respect.
The West Coast had its day in the sun, its time to take it back underground and just make great music without trying to cater to any rules or demographics. What would be nice is if there could be a major outlet for the underground heads to hear new shit and support it, without having to go thru the major label channels and stress about putting albums out. U know we all get pissed when our favorite artists dont sell shit, well we should get over that and just make sure WE support who we want to.
i think there needs to be a big time west coast mix tape scene, that would be dope. A lot of peeps aint interested though cuz they dont see big figure$ in it, but that would be a good way to go.

right now...lets all be honest ...there isnt one...the all may make a good album but no one currently is good enough to bring back to mid 90's era....especially with a lot of big name west coast artists selling out(snoop)

Damn homie.. I would say that you HIT THE HAMMER ON THE NAIL!!!!! That was way too real and even I didnt have the heart to say it. My fav part of this post was:
The music industry is horrible right now, hip hop has been bastardized by corporations,
Whoa!!!! The truth hurts yall.. and homie spit the truth. Even though I love Sixx John.. Deep down inside, I really dont believe that any one artist out the West has the power to bring back the West. You're so right in saying that the West had its day. But if artists band together and get a strong underground fan base, MAYBE. Mix Tapes could do it IMO. Look at what indy artists like Mista CaNE is doin? Free HOT ASS SHIT. www.mistacane.com
The West is too damn greedy right now and niggaz aint clickin up. Very nice post!!

Why don't you pick up one of those 8 albums Sixx John released??
Oh wait, that's Jay-Z. ;D
Kidnap Jay-Z & put Sixx John in his place, then the West would be back, LoL..
Really though..
If the West is going to bring out something big, it's gotta come from one of the big guys..
And as Snoop has been slipping lately with the Allstars, and even his own record, it seems that DRE is the man to rely on.
If he could back Knoc up, he could get really big, because he got what it takes.. talent, charisma, originality & he does sick hooks.
Just a shame that it didn't happen with "Knoc".. that could have helped him blow up.
I can't see hope for other cats neither.. Crooked I got skills, but where's the charisma, originality or hooks??
Same goes for Ras Kass & other high-tech lyricists.. that's not what the mass-public wants..
As Knoc, Snoop, Dre - Xzibit also got what it takes, but it seems half the west doesn't what him to get there..
If the high-profile/money-stackers doesn't help out the new acts, then the only thing that will sell is the old acts.. NWA would have sold, WC would have sold, 213 will maybe sell good, a Dre+Snoop-album would DEF. have sold..
The West needs a fresh breath - a new generation to step forward..
-
if i had to put my money down on it i would put it on like snoop dre and the established cats.....but if i had to pick someone new it would def be knocturnal....i got my money on that guy

LMAO...crooked i isnt charismatic?...not original?...LMAO!!!...jome...ur killin me...nobody on the west spits like Crooked I...never has...hes as original as they come..nobody sounds like him...im shocked that u said that...LMAO...ridiculous...oh uh...its not that the west doesnt want Xzibit to "get there"...if he was to be true to himself...then everything would be all good...but instead hes mister gangster gangster...which in reality hes far from...and to most out here...thats fuckin wack...maybe not to u...since ur his number 1 fan...but to the cats OUT in the WEST...thats not something that is accepted...
