tie between these 5

I thought the beats that Daz did for him were generally solid... not sure what else they ended up doing, but it's hard to ignore how dope Ambitionz az a Ridah, Skandalouz, Got My Mind Made Up, 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted and I Ain't Mad at Cha sounded. Daz is crazy now, but the stuff he did for Makaveli & Dillinger was dope too... I still bump First 2 Bomb.
-
yeah his stuff with Daz (and whoever co-produced it) was dope, but the question was best producer, not best chemistry

Well, if you're judging it in terms of being the "best" producer based on capabilities and success (which is an inevitable factor) without limiting the body of work to only what that producer did with Pac, then it's Dre by a landslide.
Easy Mo Bee is dope and did make a lot of good beats for a lot of people (Pac, Biggie, Rage, etc.) but Dre's production history spans across a greater time period with more artists and a ton more sales.

Easy Mo Bee 8)
Wrong - Johnny 'J' 8)
-
Johnny J had the best beats for Pac and had the best chemistry with Pac.

Daz used Johnny J's music group (that Johnny J set up with 2Pac).
Killa combo, when Daz used to lay down mad Jazzy beats & had some serious musicians and a studio behind him.

i know that everything daz touched on all eyez on me, soopafly was involved in it, it's been confirmed by soopa in interviews, then Quik mixed some of the songs and had bass players like cornelius mims replayed it. producing can translate into very different realities.

I'd have to go with Jonny J 8)

Soopafly's involvement varied though. It's hard to know who (or what) to believe, but there was an audio interview with Kurupt where he talked about Ambitionz az a Ridah in particular. He said Daz did the whole beat, but Soopafly's contribution on that was just one layer... I don't know how to describe it (but I know which layer it was, since in the interview Kurupt mimics it) but while I hear it, if it weren't there, the song wouldn't have been very different.
johnny j by a mile
They did a lot of good stuff together, but again, Johnny J's production skills tapered off after Pac died, as a lot of the stuff he remixed paled in comparison to his original beat. At least with Daz, the Pac stuff he remixed (even though it wasn't on legitimate retail releases) shits all over anything Johnny J remixed... Still I Rise, Until the End of Time, Better Dayz, whatever. One thing that I didn't like about some of his music was how sample heavy it was at times. I know a lot of producers use samples, but a lot of them use less popular samples that are more difficult to recognize. Oh, and then there's What'z Ya Phone #.

Everytime someone says Johnny J is a dope producer it just prove how great Pac really was, cuz his beats SUCK. Pac turned his crap into hits. Complete opposite of todays artist.

LOL Johnny J's beats are amazing... he did a couple of bland beats but that's pretty much it... Picture Me Rollin > your favorite producer's best production

qdIII too !!!!!!!

Do me a favor and download the instrumental to "How Do You Want It" and listen to how simple that beat is. Pac's energy and that dope hook (written by Pac) by Kci & JoJo made it a hit.
Oh and my favorite producer is DJ Quik...do you really wanna tell me Picture Me Rollin is better than anything Mr. Blake ever produced?
-
GangstaBoogy -- I agree that Johnny J wasn't as dope as some people make him out to be (especially if you read my post where I said what I didn't like about his production style), and you're correct that Pac's vocals definitely make the beats better (as I can listen to Daz, Dre, etc. instrumentals but don't find myself doing the same with JJ beats), but I wouldn't say that he sucked. I think that's what some of the people are really disagreeing with.
Not sure why they mentioned Picture Me Rollin'... I never really thought that beat was all that.

get the fuck out! johnny j's beats are deep!...just listen to his other stuff...for example "letter to my homeboys" from lil eazy man

never really liked how do you want it either but that's one beat out of a thousand that Johnny J has produced. Johnny J is a beast, he's the main reason (with daz) why All Eyez On Me sounds so damn good. he samples a bit too much though but i love how he replayed the songs.
and Crazy, Dangerous which he produced for Nate is one of my personal classics 8)
Not sure why they mentioned Picture Me Rollin'... I never really thought that beat was all that.
the way Johnny J flipped that old Kool & The Gang melancholic track is brilliant IMO.

Johnny J for me. Although the few beats QDIII made for 2Pac were exceptional. I would really have liked to have had a 2Pac album that was entirely produced by one person like Quik, Johnny J or QDIII.
-
Dat Nigga Daz 8)
-
well for me it was Easy mo bee..don't get me wrong, Daz,and J did great work with pac,and blinded in well with his style.
-
Now that i think about it...pac made every beat maker he associated him self with tracks better...which makes this a very hard choice.
-
Dre don't count...two tracks out of all the years he has known Pac...two tracks only.(CALIFORNIA,and Can't c me)..yeah they had good chemistry, but the relationship never lasted....sorry Dre. :-\
-
But it wasn't asking about who had the best chemistry or who worked with Pac the longest, so I don't know if that matters much in this particular discussion.

lmao Mannie Fresh been producing since the late 80's so i think that by 96 he knew how to flip drum machines especially when he was producing dope songs like this in 95-96

i know Manny Fresh has been aronud forever but he was still a nobody outside of the south until after Pac died

Life is short, I can't afford to waste a second of it listening to Lil Eazy.

Well if ever there were an example of the student becoming the teacher. Mannie Fresh is THAT nigga. I wish he was around producing more.

hit em up, picture me rollin, death around the corner, all about u.......what the hell are you smoking on Gangsaboogy? lol
Further proving my point.
Hit Em Up = dope because of Pac! Quite frankly, the original Dennis Edwards beat is better than Johnny J's version. I do give him credit for making it darker but still, ehh
Picture Me Rollin = dope, I can't take anything away from it
Death Around the Corner = ehh
All About U = great song to sample/update. But lets be honest, Pac + Nate Dogg = magic right off the bat
-
death around the corner is my shit
and what about Pour Out a Lil Liqour?

dont remember the exact story but all i know is both manny and johnny j had jobs at one time helping coordinate stage shows etc...he was supposedly helping out with programming an mpc during a too short concert when they crossed paths i believe...
manny used to work with mariah carey in a limited capacity (stage show) i also read

Niggas should be gettin smacked for not mentionin Big Stretch. The man was a beast. And his history with Pac... I would like to know the details on their falling out..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkC1sV0TCQU
And Johnny J.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp2HtkRNCyQ&feature=related
You should rate producers ASIDE from these two enlightened ones; they are in a different category.

well, according to Stretch he and pac saw eachother "mad times" after the 1994 shooting
but when 2pac was in jail he did the interview with Vibe (i think Vibe) accusing everyone who is anyone of being involved in it, saying that Stretch was a bigger target but yet the shooters in 1994 at the Quad went right after little 5'9 2pac which is not the normal case of roberies
some internet chatter says that Stretch stole a few kilo's from a NYC drug kingpin named Preme and that Stretch got murdered because he couldn't repay the guy in time. Stretch had just dropped off his brother Majesty (the other rapper in the Live Squad) somewhere before he was gunned down....thank god they didn't try to kill MAjesty too.
-
Interesting, so its just a coincidence that this happened on the 1 year Quad Studios shooting anniversary...
