Personally I think Phil the Agony is tight!! But, than again I like the whole Likwit Crew, King Tee, Tha Liks, Defari, Phil the Agony, Xzibit (technically cuz even though their beefin they still made tight music together at one time), Barbershop MC's. And you could even include Lootpack and Dilated.
I know Phil's rap can be simple sometimes, but I dig the way he raps. I got that Smokefest CD and I like it a lot, but I was already a fan. If you ain't already got a lot of his shit it's got a lot of his singles, freestyles, and appearances. And if you do like him it also has a fair amount of unheard shit. I also like the fact that it's not really in a mix CD format, every track seems to be separate without any shoutouts. A while back I picked up the new Krondon mix CD titled "The Beginning", it's cool, but has shouts and it's more of a mix than a compilation. I also just picked up the 2nd mix CD of Krondon's titled "Black Goldmember Vol. 1". It has a lot of new tracks and freestyles, but it also has a shotgun blast at the start of each song, cool at first, but it gets tiring by the end of the CD. All in all if you like a more underground cali sound I would pick all of the above up. peace!!
