Title: Best Westside remix?
Post by: T-Dogg on February 08, 2003, 08:18:15 AM
Simple: What do you think is the best remix of a west coast song?

Personally, I think it's Dre's "Let Me Ride" remix (extended club mix or some shit). That is wayyyy funkier than the original. Dre did an aawesome job on the new beat, shit gets me breaking my neck every time. Snoop's inserts are also excellent.

On a side note: who else loved Chuckey's chorus on the Trouble remix? It added a certain "playfulness" to the song IMO...

There are a lot of nice West Coast remixes, but my favorite is "Streiht Up Menace" by MC Eiht. It's a lot different from the original, at least for me, and the story takes a different tone from the original.

What's up from Australia,

I've gotta definitely agree with 'T-Dizzog'. That Dr.Dre remix is a fuckin' classic.

But one remix you've gotta listen to is by chicano rap artist 'Knightowl' .The track is called 'Home Where The Wicked Roam' (Remix), which is taken from the 2002 album 'Knightowl presents Epidode 13'. This track is fuckin' sick. I think Dr.Dre would have been proud to call this track his back in the Deathrow dayz. This track is some wicked uptempo funky ass wicked shit, not too dissimilar to Dr.Dre's - Let Me Ride (Remix).I ain't bullshittin' either.
The hook on this track is addictive as well:

San Diego Californ-i-aaayyyyyyyyyy, home where the wicked roam and pack the chrome
San Diego Californ-i-aaayyyyyyyyyy, San Diego California
San Diego Californ-i-aaayyyyyyyyyy, we like to dip through the strip in our lolos
San Diego Californ-i-aaayyyyyyyyyy, Knightowl be the name and I represent the cholos

You can sleep on this track if you want, but don't say I didn't warn you how sick it really is !!!!!

Peace!

Yep, used to rewind that part over and over before I got the vinyl...started off when Cain saw him in the left turn lane. Too bad they didn't add it on the soundtrack.
