How long has he been there now and still no album.
If it takes dre this long to be happy with his own work and release a Rakim album then dre is a fool.
Why the hell can ppl like Rza/Timberland/Quik/premo/L.E.S/ etc release albums/beats constantly over the years which are of high standard and dre can't even do half that.
Had Rakim simply stayed on the east coast and got ppl like like i mentioned above and odd tracks by dre and others, we would have had a album released AGES ago.
The 2 or so beat that he put on 50Cents album were borderline average, And that is suppose to be his new "Detox" sound, what a joke.
I'll give dre his props for what he did in the Ruthless/Death Row era. The work he did was stunning, but what he's doing now and at the INCREDIBLY slow rate he's doing it at ain't that good.
By the time dre gets off his ass and releases Ra's album, Ra will have to retire and not be able to capitalise on whatever success he gets coz he'll so fucking old.

Actually I was speaking to someone that promotes funding partnerships for people hiring studio time and he was speaking to someone (not a rapper) that was given material from Dre to mix and sing over and it wasn't his normal signature sound your used too hearing.
I've also heard his Detox is a story of his life and will feature different souunds from his life - ie, you will heard deathrow sound, ruthless sound, aftermath sound, new sound etc

no one can make up their mind....everyone complains albums these days are too rushed, too many producers, guest spots, etc. and when you hear artists are doin what you say you want, you gotta bitch about that too. will you ever be happy? for christ sake half of you don't even buy the music you complainin about u download it.
-
Even though it's been a long time since Rakim joined the label, I think it's too early to say wether it was a mistake or not. We just gotta wait for the album. That'll tell the truth.
-
Heres somthing to think about though...
If Rakim never signed to Aftermath how many people on this board would care about his new album?
-
Who cares? Rakim did his best work a decade ago.
-
just wait til his album drops so you can jump back in the bandwagon.....trust me this shit gonna be classic!!!..........just watch!........i dont know how people can hate and doubt dre like they do.......i think he has proven himself already......for people to be speakin on him like this.....but thats just my opinion.......

geee thats a thinker
-
we cant really judge if Rakim signing to aftermath until his album drops or he gets dropped from the label - whatever happens.
i believe we will see a Rakim album sooner then most of us expect and it should be dope - even though i would like for dre to work quicker who really cares? you talk about all these other producers, arent their beats good enough to tide you over until dre does drop beats?
-
CaTash.. you're a Dre-hater!!!!!!!!
;)
-
only time will tell, like the other homie said, once the album drops, then you'll know when its gonna come out, it'll be pretty soon now though i think..............it'l be out by the summer - if not be worried
peace

I think Dre is being an idiot and his plan is going to backfire. Hes taking his sweet ass time making an album (for someone else) and all its doing it getting our hopes up, when really, its only going to let us down in the long-run. Its really ashame if he actually is turning down premo beats when it takes him 3 fuckin years to release an album for one of the greatest MC's ever.
-
Dre is a really talented producer yes, but in order to be as good as everyone says he is, he actually has to release some fucking music. I cant holler about about how crazy his beats are when I aint heard any in a minute, ya knwo what IM sayin? and thats a long minute BTW...A couple beats from the 50 album really impressed me, but I need to hear more than that for me to buy into the "Dre is the best" theory.
-
Dre is really starting to annoy me now. He knows how slow he is at doing beats, so why is he taking on so many artists when he knows he can't work quick enough to get all of there material out within a respectable period of time. We have Rakim and Ice Cube waiting to work on albums, plus Dre has his own Detox album to work on, and none of this projects are going to be finished this year in my opinion apart from the Rakim joint, and considering he has been there like two and a bit years his really should have been finished ages ago.
Dre is definately not the greatest, cause he spends so long doing beats, and then the final product is normally just about the same as the other stellar producers of our time.
-
Ra's lp will be fire just like his previous 2 solo joint's....but their better be some Primo on it.
Anything they did together kill's "Watcher 2".
I hope the Dre proves us muthaphucc'az wrong.
Cause without Primo.....I got a reasonable doubt.

Have trust. Remember we waited 3 years for 2001, and 4 years for Aftermath (which IMO was a classic)...And the former is no 1 of all time to many peeps.
Outkast took 3 years to release Stankonia, and that is one of the greats.
Ah well, y'all don't like him, don't come to his threads, I guess. The album will rock, Rakim will drop hot shit, and y'all will be jump back on board.
-
wat a joke Dre said 50 got the cvream of the crop for his newb album in production...it was total crap...dre has fallen off alot compared to chronic 2001...listen to hsi beats on these album and then ull see

It was two years, like all their other albums up to that point.
-
The original version of Aquemini came out Sept 1997...However, it then disappeared til summer 1998. SFunk came out 1994, ATLiens fall 1996, Stankonia spring 2000

Aquemini was release Sept 1998. I don't know what Aquemini was released in 1997.

Do you know what really annoys me when people talk about Dre as a producer on this album and talk about Premo. Premo is probably the most consistent Producer of all time, constantly dropping hot shit BUT he has basically been putting out the same type of beats for years!!!!! NOw dre on the other hand is constantly trying to change his sound AND that is the difference, Premo + Rakim = Dope album , Dre + Rakim = Change The Game Type album.
