West Coast Hip-Hop pioneer Gregory Hutchison, who goes by the name Big Hutch aka Cold 187um, has recently filed a lawsuit against EVE, Dr.Dre, Ruff Ryders Entertainment, and Interscope Records accusing them of stealing the hit 1999 single release entitled “Love Is Blind.” Hutch stated the song was stripped of some of its original components and presented as the accused own work. ”Love Is Blind” is on the September 14, 1999 album release “Let There Be EVE…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady. The album sold 213,000 copies in the first week and sold over 2 million copies according to Soundscan and is certified Double Platinum. Love is blind was released on ruff ryders not aftermath, and was produced by Swizz beatz. Dre wont have to pay Hutch shit
Hutch, says that in December of 1997, he was introduced and hired to produce, at the time, an up and coming artist known as EVE. Mike Lynn, as head of the A&R department at Aftermath, introduced him to the EVE project. With just him and EVE in the studio at the time, Hutch was helping develop EVE producing an array of tracks but ultimately, the original track for “Love Is Blind” was chosen. Hutch claims to have co-wrote and produced the track. Hutch even called in the Aftermath songtress at the time, Truth Hurts, to sing the hook and assist them in finishing up some other singing ideas they had.
love is blind was relased in 99. truth hurts joined aftermath in 2000. something isnt adding up

He was locked up in 2004. He cataloged his music before that. For someone with common sense, if they heard a song that was theirs and was denied compensation for it, they would probably work on finding the original at that point and move forward with a lawsuit then, not 13 years later.
hope he wins, Dre also stole Cali Luv remix from him
Can add that to the list along with J. Flexx and Sam Sneed.

so you can get more dough by letting the album reach its highest point of sales expected...if he drops this suit five or even ten years ago could make the difference between hundreds of thousands. lets say they license got a man for some pussy ass chick flick if he sues before that point he misses on that cake unless they cut him in on royalties etc.

Aren't the two of them cousins or something? Sad they couldn't solve the issue on a friendlier note.
-
no they're not... Dre's cousin with Sir Jinx and Hutch's cousin with Kokane and is also Willie Hutch's nephew. I doubt Dre gives a fuck about Hutch to this point and I doubt this lawsuit will go anywhere.
I guess Hutch has trouble paying the bills. I like him a lot but the moves he made lately haven't been really classy (associating himself with wide awake, dissing covertly dre in interviews, etc.)

I don't really see how Aftermath is at fault here. If Hutch didn't have his version of the song to prove it then what could they do about it? If Eve & Swizz Beatz redid the song @ Ruff Ryders with Faith Evans then those people are the negligent parties, not Aftermath/Dre. Also, it says in the article when he went to Aftermath to seek help he was VP at Death Row at that time. It just so happens right around that time Death Row was putting out albums with tracks titled "Fuck Dre" and put out DVD's with directions to Dre's house. Hutch most likely had nothing to do with any of that stuff, but his Death Row affiliation was definitely not gonna make anybody at Aftermath stick their neck out for him.
Also, does anybody else find it super suspect that Hutch never mentioned he worked for Aftermath until now? I'm not doubting he did, but with all that talk about Dre stealing G-Funk from him you would think that he would have mentioned that at some point. Maybe Dre gave him a shot at Aftermath and he completely blew it?
