Mekkan Refugee: Well, it was a good workout. I think I was able to catch some of the highlights on the video. I'm satisfied with the way it came out. Generally I prefer only to speak in rhymed couplets, but there's been a lot of questions about my training and about the challenge I made to Sikotic. So I'm gonna 'make it plain'. So fire away...
Teddy Roosevelt: What do you have against Sikotic?
Mekkan Refugee: It all stems from my deep love of this 20th century artform known as hip-hop. See, in Arab culture around the time of the Prophet Muhammad, poetry was everything to the people. The only way that the Arabs of that time would accept the Qu'ran as a superior revelation, was if it was better and greater than what the poets of that time were already doing. So not only was the book inspired by Allah, but it was also a poetic and rhythmic masterpiece. Every Prophet had to accomplish some miracle to convince his people. Like Prophet Moses producing magic (staff becoming snake) superior to the magic that was popular in his time; or Jesus healing the sick in a way superior to the pseudo-healers popular in his time. So my point is, that hip-hop and gangsta rap are an extension of a culture that runs deep within me, because I used to be the poet of my tribe in the 18th Century. This forum should celebrate hip-hop, but unfortunately it degrades the culture, and Sikotic is the leader of those who do it.
Teddy Roosevelt: What do you hope to accomplish from this fight?
Mekkan Refugee: First off, I never used the word "fight". Mekkan Refugee is all about peace of mind, peace of heart. Even back in my day I was not a warrior of my tribe. I was a poet. I fought battles with my tongue and with my pen. What I am prepared to do is go to Sikotic in LA and provoke him into a rap battle. If he wants to claim that he doesn't rap and can't battle (which his numerous keystyles would prove otherwise), then if the public demands, I am prepared to enter the ring with him in a boxing match. We used to sword fight in my day, but I understand that is neither possible nor legal in this century. So therefore, a boxing match will do.
Teddy Roosevelt: If you end up winning, are you just going to knock him down, or give him a real ass whooping?
Mekkan Refugee: As a Muslim I am taught to be disciplined. To never do anything in excess. I am not an aggressor. Once he makes it clear that he understands who I am, where I've came from, my story, my history, and he gives me the props I deserves ("Bows Down" as Westside Connection would say), then I will shake his hand, and life will move on, and I will have to find something else to do with my time.
Teddy Roosevelt: What was your impression between the fight that almost was between Sik and NIK? Who bitched out?
Mekkan Refugee: Sccit is my homie, st8 away. Him and I share a mutual friend in Abdul-Infinite. And even without that, Sccit is authentic and he knows how to express himself and keep it 100%. Sikotic is in the crowd hating, gossiping, and picking at his every move. So naturally, I relate to Sccits version of what went down. I can understand however, Sikotic not wanting to throw down, depending on the situation, but if that's the case he should have learned some manners. My people I come from are the best in manners, and we would never speak about a persons Mother or personal life the way I've seen him do here.
Teddy Roosevelt: Do you think Lights sucks dick for drugs?
Mekkan Refugee: Definitely not. Lights is my homie and I refuse to beef with him on the forum. He knows Abdul-Infinite personally, outside of this forum. So for me to beef with him something would have to go down outside of the forum, like when I was in LA. But from a distance it's hard for me to tell where Lights is coming from, because all his posts are very off the cuff.
Teddy Roosevelt: What turned you from the mild-mannered righteous Muslim to an aspiring tough guy?
Mekkan Refugee: Bitter at the world. See I was once a highly regarded man in soceity. I was a Boss of the Bosphorus Sea. The Ace of the Straights (of Dardenelle). As you hear in my raps I've said many times my job within the tribe was as a poet. I celebrated our victory's and comforted the people in loss. But due to that experience I have seen many a conflict first hand. When I was transported by the evil Jinn (May Allah punish her 1,000X and bring me back to my former state) to this modern century, it has made me into a bitter man. I'm stuck inside the body of this guy named Brian, stuck in the midwest. Nothing to do, so like a prisoner who does 1,000 pushups and reads Qu'ran everyday to maintain his sanity; I am taking a similar path to maintain my mind, body and spirit. But bottom line, like I said in the rhyme, "Sikotic, I got nothing to do, that's why I'm fucking with you". (at least until Allah returns me to my former state of body, place and time.
Teddy Roosevelt: Can you set the record straight about your son?
Mekkan Refugee: You mean Infinite (my alter ego's) son. Why yes, ofcourse. See Tom is an OG at the forum, so him and Infinite used to always chat through this forum and through AIM. So when Infinite was first going through his divorce (at that time his child was just a year old) it was a rough time for him. The only way he found peace was by spending a month in Africa. After that he tried driving trucks, which didn't work out at the time (Infinite crashed into a low bridge in New Ark, NJ) so Infinite also had money problems. At this time he was talking to Tom (and he hasn't confided in him since), and Tom, being bipolar, just decided one day he hated himself and wanted to take it out on Infinite. So he added up the fact that Infinite was gone for a month in Africa, that Infinite was broke, that Infinite had divorced his sons mom, and decided that Infinite was a dead beat dad. Truth is, Infinite holds down like 3 different jobs in the health care field as a Medical Assistant, spends much on his son, and is only gone during the winter time, as he likes to travel at the end of each year to maintain his sanity. Him and his son have a very loving relationship.
