discuss if you must. i already know
-
well it depends on what you prefer
long term success vs short term
i'll take the Bill Russell Celtics over any Lakers team
-
dwhite howard and Andrew Bynum , pfft
-
I'd agree. Best duo ever.
-
we gotta wait till kobe retires to make this assessment. kareem>shaq, but when kobe retires, he will be in GOAT discussion (magic's already there). so this is a tough one.

Shaq Diesel >>> Kareem
-
I look at it from this view, the 1984 Lakers vs. the 2001 Lakers. I'd pick the 2001 Lakers every single time. Kareem over Shaq, but not by much. The key is that Kobe would own Magic. Magic was not a great defender, but Kobe was lock down. The 84 Lakers do stay in it though, as Kobe allows Magic to pass, which opens Kareem who has the advantage over Shaq. But on the other end Kareem may have an advantage over Shaq but he has to help Magic with Kobe and this opens the big man, or they just let Kobe score. I with Kobe and Shaq over Magic any day of the week, except the 2004 Lakers because I doubt Shaq and Kobe can even be on the same court without hurting each other.

kareem was still better

naw
kareem needed to play with two of the three greatest point guards ever to win all his titles. not that Kareem wasn't a HOFer himself because he was but he couldn't do it alone
Hakeem meanwhile personally shit on Ewing and Shaq in the finals 8)

Hakeem won in a much easier era...he used 2 get shit on by Kareem in the 80s
-
except in the 85-86 playoffs, right?
lol the joke that year was that the Celtics were too good for the Lakers so the Lakers lost to Houston on purpose :D

wait a minute, you know Kareem won an NBA title with the Bucks before joining the Lakers? Hell, he even won an MVP award without Magic or Oscar Robinson well being a Laker. Kareem is the best center in the history of the game, any level. College, Pro, Kareem was the best center ever.

"he even won an MVP award" lmao i never questioned his great status
i'm just saying all his rings came with Oscar or Magic and that Hakeem didn't have anyone that good to get his rings. Hakeem had to lead his teams. Magic lead the Showtime teams and we all know that.

Kareem '71 Championship Season: 31 ppg 16 rpg on 57% from the field >> Hakeem 94' Championship season: 27 ppg 12 rpg on 52% from the field
-
i'd reckon it was a lot easier to put them stats up in the early 70s than the mid 90s
-

This is a link of Kareem and Hakeem head to head. Though Hakeem had better stats one on one, remember Hakeem was a young player and Kareem was 37 at the time of Hakeem's rookie year. Kareem during Hakeem's rookie year OWNED him. Overall they averaged 22 point against each other, which I'd say is a push. In the playoff's Hakeem had a 31 to 27 point advantage, though Kareem was 39 and Hakeem was entering his prime. If a very old Kareem gave Hakeem that much problems, imagine young Kareem. Young Kareem, coming off the great college basketball career ever, would dominate young Hakeem. Case close.
-
just imagine Kareem having to go against Hakeem in his prime 8)
btw Bill has 11 rings...he's the best ever.

Hakeem could never stop the sky hook

hakeem never blocked it...and that was a baby-hook, anyways, not really a sky hook.

All these statistics are pointless. Who has more rings?
