Lil Eazy-E Reportedly In Contract Talks With Death Row Records
Exclusive: In an odd turn of events, the son of longtime rival rapper and entrepreneur Eazy-E may ink with the new ownership of Death Row Records.
Lil Eazy-E, son of Eazy-E, is reportedly in contract negotiations with a rival label to his father's Ruthless Records. Jonathan Hay of Hoopla Media Group and a representative for Lil Eazy-E, told HipHopDX that the Compton, California native is speaking with the Death Row Records/WIDEAwake Entertainment today (September 13), the 16th anniversary of onetime label star Tupac Shakur's death.
"The Money Gang, the N.W.A. family and I would like to give respect and love to Tupac Shakur and the Hoopla/WIDEawake/Death Row [Records] family. I'm excited to soon bring you a new generation of Rap that will reign in and bring success like the old Ruthless/Death Row era," said Lil Eazy-E in a statement.
Lisa Marcum, of N.W.A. Entertainment, added, "I am excited about this possibility with Hoopla [Worldwide] in bringing together this Death Row/Ruthless saga, which is known as the biggest beef in rap history, into a new era with N.W.A. Entertainment, bringing the fans what rap has been missing - real Rap music. And what better way to do that than through Lil Eazy-E."
Now owned by WIDEawake, Death Row is no longer under the control of co-founder Marion "Suge" Knight. Knight was instrumental in releasing his would-be partner and former client Dr. Dre from Eazy-E's Ruthless Records. In the early '90s, Lil Eazy-E's father and his label had a longstanding feud with Death Row, that prompted several violent attacks.
Besides Dr. Dre, Above The Law and Michel'le were Ruthless Records artists who later signed with Death Row. Acts such as Kokane, Dresta and The D.O.C. also worked closely with the label in the 1990s and early 2000s. Eazy's son, however, never signed with Ruthless.
Previously signed to Virgin Records in the mid-2000s, Lil Eazy-E is still working on his debut album. He is also reportedly beginning a memoir.

Lil Eazy-E & WIDEawake try to get a deal together but not under the Death Row imprint, only with Hoopla, part of WIDEawake Group, owner of the Death Row catalog and releasing albums (with E1, distribution) for various artists including : Sabrina, Audio Stepchild, Freshwadda Brooks. Hoopla executives also worked with Treacherous Records. Hoopla Worldwide already released :

Hoopla Worldwide coordinates media projects and manages artists including Buffalo Stille (Nappy Roots), Knoc-turn'al, Nyche, Tha Chill, EA-Ski, Audio Stepchild, with a partership with WIDEawake.
They also want to release new albums of Compton's Most Wanted and MC Breed
