Classic Dre shit ??? :-\
-
Yeah, I liked that a lot more than "Swimming Pools". Is "The Recipe" supposed to be on Kendrick's album?
-
"The Recipe" shits on "Swimming Pools"...
"Swimming Pools" is an attempt at soundin' like everything else thats currently on the radio, which i dont think is a good route for Kendrick to take, consider he has more talent than them cats. Also, comin' out with a dirty south style track aint the best look for a west coast artist. "The Recipe" was doin better out here on the radios, duno why they scrapped it.
-
what do u know about selling records Nik? what do u know about sound and the art of rap?
-
The Recipe AND Swimming Pools are both dope. They definitely should have released this video. The concert version is alright, but the screenshots that were out for the official video they were shooting looked sick. Man, that beat is so sick. Still, one of the best beats out right now. Kendrick flows perfect on that track. I kinda wish Dre had no involvement at all with that record. Altho, Kendrick did say Dre touched up the drums and all that to make it sound THAT much better.

should of dropped a video for this... was bumpn it all summer over here in these southern california streetz... this track is straight west coast 8)
-
another loss for the west, let alone Kendrick
what's his excuse? the video wasn't good enough? lmao
-
a video woulda made it the official 2012 summer anthem
-
if DubCNN gets another Kendrick interview I hope they ask him about this topic. Im surprised nobody else has asked this question in any of his recent interviews.

it's a Dre production....thats why it sounds so crisp compared 2 other Kendrick joints. they want u to believe it's a Scoop Deville production mixed by Dre, but 10 years ago, that shit woulda been labeled produced by Dr. Dre & Scoop Deville. Truth be told, the definition of producer was changed by hip-hop. By the current definition, Dre is no longer a producer. But we all know damn well he produced this, along with "Kush" and every other Detox leak with the Dre signature sound credited 2 some1 else. Producing is a whole lot more work than coming up with a dope beat loop, which is what Scoop, Khalil etc. have been doin, and what Storch, Mel-Man, Elizando USED to do, back when Dre was still gettin the proper credit.

Sucks they didn't put it out however videos these days don't have the impact they had back 10-15 years ago.

Im not sure if I agree. Now, you can see videos with 10 million views or more. 15 years ago, you might only catch a video 2 or 3 times depending on how much air time it got from MTV or BET. Now, you can watch any video you want at any time. IMO, the videos now have more impact, you just dont see them on MTV anymore because they know YOUTUBE has them trumped.

Eh, it kinda depends on what he's looking for. If he's looking to follow the current sound it's working cause Swimming Pools is doing very well compared to what I thought it was before I just looked lol. I like the Recipe a lot more, but I don't know if it would have reached the common audience in the same way.

"swimming pools" is like a b-list hit.....not fuckin with the a-listers; tyga, lil wayne, kanye, jay-z, drake, etc.
i believe with a video, "the recipe" coulda gotten up 2 a-list status.. it has more of an original sound, as opposed to a sound which is simply tryna replicate the a-list sound. either way, he still shoulda released the video back in july, when they said they were gunna release it.
-
i just looked it up..."the recipe" peaked higher on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (Billboard) chart than "swimming pools", and that's without a video. damn.

"Gucci Gucci" has 38 million views on youtube yet Kreayshawn sold 3,900 copies her first week. Just because a video is very popular on Youtube doesn't mean it'll have an impact on sales.

Columbia dropped the ball on that one.. they released the album a year too late. Kreayshawn has had no buzz since that video dropped. if the album dropped around the time "Gucci Gucci" was blowin up, it woulda been more like 309,000.

Hopefuly the Video is on the Deluxe Edition
-
The song isn't on the album ... Dre is featured on "Compton" produced by Just Blaze..
-
No wonder ppl prefer to dl shit instead of buying it.
These days u have a bomb ass single, make a vid to it and not release it is beyond anything i can comprehend. Lack of simple skill to promote an album with shit u got.
-
another loss for the west, let alone Kendrick
what's his excuse? the video wasn't good enough? lmao
nope, it was just two weeks before they planned on dropping the video for "the recipe", kendrick released "swimming pools" and it created a huge buzz on the net and on the radio. so they figured they should rather shoot a video for that one, since this song was more recent and keep the vid for "the recipe" shelved. what i just don't understand is, why they just don't release it on the tube as a gift for the fans. i mean it's not that it does anything negative to kendrick's buzz, even when they're late on it.

thats some dumbass logic, if i've ever heard some........they coulda easily released "the recipe" video as a teaser single, then released "swimming pools" right before the album dropped. common sense would tell you thats simply DOUBLE the promotion. wtf are promotional teams thinkin nowadays? smh
