Couple things that stick out:
- "Compton" was the first track Kendrick and Dre worked on. It's also confirmed to be a leftover from Detox
- Stat Quo brought "The Recipe" to Dr. Dre who wanted to jump on that record
- "Cartoons & Cereal" missed the record because they didn't want to adjust the track in order to clear the sampl

"We did a video for it but it didn’t come out exactly how we wanted it. By the time we were going back and forth with the edits ‘Swimming Pools’ was ready so we decided to go ahead with that. That’s just us preferring to give you fresh material for the album as opposed to stuff that's been out for months already."
we'll never going to see The Recipe video...

apparently, dre wasnt feelin the way the video came out....so now he's havin videos shelved, as well. those are the kinda moves u can make when u make more money than any1 else in the industry.

great read and insight on the making of all the tracks, thanks for sharing

asap rocky directed the recipe video, maybe thats why they didnt like it
-
so Dre's shelving videos now? This guy truly needs to ease out.
-
Compton a Detox leftover? Shit i guess now its confirmed that Detox got like zero Dre produced tracks on it? What is he working on? His flow-structure and how he can read the for-him-written-raps faster or what?

Aftermath is Dre's label, so he kinda has a say in what should be released.
Also find it funny MC Eiht uses "Jhea" regularly in texts.

this is part of why "Detox" is not being released...the definition of producer has changed, and Dre knows it wouldn't be the best look to have an album released with the majority of the production credits going to different beat-makers, when he's built a reputation for himself of greatest rap producer of all time over the years.
