Greivis Vasquez on guarding Kobe.
Quote:
"Its always a special assignment against him. He's the best player in the league"
its always the european guys who have Kobe over Lebron... goes to show how they value skill over brute strength and power.
on a side note, aint it great to have Magic back?

"Im like Neo out this muthafucka"
-Kobe on his ability to easily witch from shooting guard to PG
-
LeBron's too big for Vasquez to guard him lmao.
But Greivis said it, so it must be true; dudes a future Hall of Famer.

what do u think of the fact that Kobe is adding to his legacy by taking on a whole nother role no one knew he was capable of? 39 assists in the last 3 games, playing like Magic Johnson, just passed MJ's career assist total. do u ever think your beloved LeBron will reach that echelon?
-
Passing the basketball is something LeBron does better than just about every point guard in the league for the last nine years. As for what I think about Kobe doing it..."about damn time".

Is this thread really necessary? Get off the Kobe shlong man.
Should we make a thread every time some player or coach says "Lebron or KD are the best players in the league"?

are lebron or kd 34 years old in their 17th season? LOL

I don't know why you think it's so far-fetched of an idea that just because their players in the league, they don't carry simple human emotions.
More of half of the leagues fan, who were fans of him on Cleveland hate him now because he made the switch. Why is it SOOO crazy that players in the league who are actually more directly affected by it wouldn't take sides?
Plus you just said "Every European likes Kobe more". Maybe it's because the dude lived in Italy for years. But I guess that's a crazy idea too lmao.
I just find it hilarious that you twist & turn it into "Kobe has shown us a new side of his game" when it's really just because him shooting is more of a cancer than anything lol. 14-3 when he takes less than 19 shots. Doing something he should of been doing his whole career. Just blinded by always being second to Jordan & trying so hard to surpass that; probably fearing being 3rd to LeBron & down the road 4th to Durant.
I just can't wait for him to pass the ball to Nash in the corner with eleven seconds on the clock because he's wide open & you defend the fact he did it. You'll talk down about it now because it hasn't happened yet...but it'll come. You'll have something positive to say about it lol.
-
See the truth behind it all is that MJ was the first wing player to play like the game is played today. This is really only the second generation of this style of ball, it isn't that crazy of idea to think these SG/SF players are just going to get better as time goes on. Would it really shock you if in five years there was somebody we all compared to Kobe, LeBron & Durant? & then somebody after him?
Unless something crazy happens league wise, it's going to be LeBron v. Durant for the next six seasons, at least. Somebody is going to take home those rings. & then in the next six years, Durant will only still be 30 lol & his style of play won't really limit him.

wtf are u talking about? Kobe's had an amazing season, even before he began playing like Magic Johnson....the reason the Lakers were losing was because the game-plan was senseless. nash pick-n-roll or kobe iso. thats what d'antoni came with...everyone else, just stand around and watch....none of the players not named kobe could score consistently to save their life. what does kobe do? completely reforms his game and becomes a point guard...this is a natural born scorer we're talking about. with his unmatched will to win, the man takes matters into his own hands to make sure everyone gets spoon-fed their points so that no one has an excuse as to why they're not defending or moving on offense...now, while kobe was supposed to be our primary scorer, he's now depended on to get others scoring. that is not his game, yet he's doing it like he's played this way his whole career....is that not special to u? come on, now...derek fisher once said kobe could lead the league in assists if he wanted to. i never knew how serious he was being, cuz he really could.
and no, just cuz kobe is passing doesn't mean he'll turn into a complete pussy like your beloved lebron....killer instinct, ur either born with it or you're not....and if u were born with it, you don't lose it.
-
LMAO Kobe decides to pass the ball for 4 games and now NIK calling him Magic Johnson
-
The love fest is embarrassing.
-
It is kind of funny though that Kobe has been made fun of for being a ballhog and trying to score through triple teams with wide open teammates and now that he's decided for the first time in seventeen years to pass to those wide open teammates, he's on some Magic shit.
-
the numbers dont lie......ugly loss today, though

You forgot to mention he played more games :)
Seriously tho, he played 3 great games in a ugly Lakers season and your calling him the second Magic Johnson ??? Calm down man and let's wait a lil' bit longer before we start those statements ::)
-
Funny he's nutting over this when LBJ has done it his entire career in a much more efficient manner. Just goes to show the extreme bias and how taking him seriously is retarded.

i never said he's magic johnson...what i said is that he's reformed his game to a magicesque game in order for the lakers to stand a chance. he's always maintained that magic was his favorite player growing up.

lebron james has been a pass-first player his entire career...he's not a natural born scorer who reformed his game 17 seasons in for his team to stand a chance. see why comparing the 2 is silly? probably not.. but i don't expect a lebron faithful from new york to understand a simple concept when it's not favoring your idol.

Yeah, a pass first player who still averages two more PPG all-time than Kobe.

yea, skewed career averages, because kobe wasn't handed a franchise from the get-go. lets be real, can u imagine kobe's numbers right now had he been drafted to a team like cleveland under the same circumstances as lebron? holy shit...obviously, kobe is known as a better scorer than lebron, duno what ur tryna prove with ur moot points. when lebron decides to become a score first player and strings together 4 consecutive 50+ point games or a 35+ ppg season or something out of his realm, i hope u get a chance to start a thread about the feat without nutlickers questioning u over it.

His individual numbers would def go up, but not as far as you may think. It was a different ball-game back then. Kobe arrived to the league @ 17 years old - he was a talented kid, but he wasen't fully prepared from the physical standpoint. He was skinny and needed to gain some weight to fully developed his body.
Plus playing with the Lakers was his lexury - that's why he was able to have 3 titles under his belt before turning 22. In NBA it's all about winning, so he should be glad cause under different circumstances, he could've not won as many rings...
Lebron on the other hand, was prepared physicaly from the day one, cause of his great body and physique. Plus he arrived, after NBA changed much of their rules to get perimeter players an upper hand in order to up-grade the tempo and make the league more marketable. So his numbers should be on the level they are right now - he's a talented player also.

come on, kevin martin averaged 25 ppg being 6'7" and weighing 170 pounds....i truly believe kobe woulda been a good scorer from the jump had he been given the run and coulda even had some 40 ppg seasons under his belt if he didn't play with shaq for the first half of his career. honestly, the possibilities are endless. to be real with u, he probably would've already passed kareem on the scoring list by now. playing wit shaq did help him win, but kobe would've won championships regardless...would he have 5 without shaq? maybe not. but if he had some good teams built around him from 1996-2007, he woulda had AT LEAST 2 in that span (considering the 2004-2007 rebuilding phase woulda never took place). just think, the 2008-2011 kobe-gasol-odom era was enough for him to win back-to-back. those early 2000's woulda been really interesting if shaq and kobe were on separate teams. it's a good thing they werent, but there are some insane what ifs surrounding the whole situation.
-
Kobe can be "better scorer". Melo is a "better scorer" than LeBron. It's undeniable James is the better basketball player...and for an "inferior scorer" he still averages the third most PPG all-time lmao.

Kevin Martin averaged 25ppg in 2009 season. You can't compare it to the late 90's/early 00's era. It was a different ball-game back then with a different rules. If a prime-Kobe scored 35ppg in one season in this era, there's no way a younger and less expierenced one would averaged 40pts/game in his earlier years, under a much different circumstances, c'mon now ::)

u comparin prime lebron vs 34 year old kobe LOL.....lebron wont be anywhere near as good as kobe when he's 34.

doesnt matter, kobe was even more athletic in the 1999-2004 era....if there was no shaq, he woulda had some amazing scoring numbers, no doubt. furthermore, just imagine if he wasnt confined to the triangle offense. we're talking about an offense that is supposed to be an equal-oppurtunity offense. can u imagine kobe playing in a free flowing, d'antoni style offense at age 21-26, with no shaq? the possibilities are endless...but enough with the what ifs- the point is, kobe's numbers would be a lot better in lebron's shoes, and thats a fact.

lol damn its impossible for some of you to give Kobe props on anything...
