Dope song homie. You ought to sell your music on Itunes, I'd happily drop $1.29 for this bomb ass music, but I guess you ain't hurtin for paper.
I've probably played "I Still Luv Her" 100 times by now. That's a perfect Cali summer song, like We Can Freak It. We need more music like this.

I don't think you should collab with the hottest new rappers, just collab with the people you been making West Coast G-Funk classics with: Kurupt, Roscoe, DJ Quik, AMG, Hi-C, Don Dolla, etc. What the game needs - what we at DubCC need - is more of that smooth G-Funk shit.
-
somebody post a link? I don't use that twitter shit so it wont let me download

Hottest New..? That shxt ain't Hot and I would never work with that sound.
G-Funk is the reason most of these rappers even exist.. Let's not forget.

It's in the Audio section of DubCNN of course.. 8)

That's true, but it would be cool to hear you working with some New West rappers Sheist :) Me personally, I would like to see a collabo between you and Dom Kennedy over an updated smooth G-Funk type of beat like "1997" or "Menace II Society" 8)

Track is ok.
15-20 years ago it would have sounded fresh.
G-Funk, is that term even relevant in todays music climate?
It is something sad and romantic about trying to hold on to the past I guess...

Just because G-Funk isin't the most popular genre in music, like it was in the 90's, dosen't mean it's irrelevant. If people are still making G-Funk, that means people still want to listen to it. Good music is good music regardless. And you can find plenty of records done today inspired by G-Funk music-wise if you manage to look closely :)

I hear you Mietek.
To me its almost like beating a dead horse though, how many times are you gonna sample the same records and drum patterns.
The glory days of G-Funk (to me) are long gone so I no longer look for new memories of that past.
Each to his own.

It varies.
Mostly Racha Blacka and PSB.
That new PSB dropping in June should be good:

Of course I wouldn't know of these artists you refer to.. To each it's own indeed.
Most folx who speak on Gangsta Funk have absolutely no real knowledge of it's
origin, influence and relativity to Hip-Hop's past and unfortunate future.
In fact, most can't even correctly identify G-Funk from basic Gangsta Rap..
Would've been dope 20 Years ago..? LOL.. this new music isn't dope TODAY.
So beat a dead horse and continue seeing the world or make trash and be forgotten tomorrow..
"Damn that's a tough one.." said no True West Coast artist ever.

Do what you feel is right my brother, you don't have to defend your music to me.
Here is a thread about Racha Blacka with some links in it if you have any interest:
http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=297390.0 (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=297390.0)
Haven't done a thread about PSB yet but they aren't hard to find.
Wonder why more people haven't sampled them actually.
Success to you!
-
That's where you're wrong though G.. I DO have to defend my Genre!
And that's with all due respect to you because you have been just as respectful with your opinion.
It's troubling to me that anything with a gangsta bassline or familiar sample is considered G-Funk..
I didn't learn how to orchestrate and arrange compositions from Warren, Quik and Dre
only to be boxed in with conveyor belt Western music that sees less than a year of musical life on the mainstream.
Every coast and type of music imitated G-Funk in it's prime and all of a sudden it's no longer relevant? *Holds Back Laughter* ;D
That argument would be legit if (and only if) Western music was selling more NOW than in the G-Funk Era..
But again, I blame this on the fact that most don't know a G-Funk record when they hear one..

That's just shows you how ignorant some people are over here. Like I said in other thread, instead of be proud of the sound that gave their coast a worldwide voice, they want to cut ties from it, like they ashamed of it. Fact is, you can still hear G-Funk inspired records from the new hot rappers today - good music is good music regardless when it's been made.
With that being said, I wanted to ask you Shade if there's a chance for a collabo between you and people like Dom Kennedy, Mann or XL Middleton, who's music is still very G-Funk orientated? 8)
-
G-Funk doesn't = West Coast Music.. I'm sure EPMD, Redman and Others would agree.
I don't know why so many act like there is so much new G-Funk around these days..
Only the artists who actually use the term "G-Funk" are the ones still creating it.

Well XL Middleton produced cuts on "Movin Units" and I still work with him today.. The rest, I'm definitely open to it. 8)

Aside from you, XL Middleton is prolly the only West Coast rapper who I can think off @ the moment, that still does G-Funk albums from top to bottom 8) But there are some other rappers, who are still featuring those classic West Coast sounds in their music today :)
-
XL Middleton is slowly progressing from G-Funk to Funk though, aligning himself with the likes of B. Bravo & Dam Funk, and it's all good cause dude has really stepped his production game up to me.
