I was surprised how much appeal this album has for kids. This is the first time my son has ever really taken to a rap artist or hip-hop. I was 11 when I got into Snoop from seeing him in the "Wit A Dre Day" video summer of 93'. Now, 2 decades later my 7 year old son is getting into rap for the first time through SNOOP! I was explaining how he started out as a dogg and became a Lion, and when "Here Comes the King" was playing my son even explained to me that he was a King because the Lion is the King of the jungle!
My son was really into the album, even asked me about smoking and everything. I explained to him how smoking isn't just ciggerettes but that Snoop is actually talking about a different kind of plant. He said, "A plant?" And I explained how it's crushed down really small and rolled up! 8)

gangsta shit....your son sounds like a young playa. thats around the age i was really gettin into rap too. i remember my uncle lettin me listen to some eazy-e around 5-6 years old (though it mighta traumatized me a lil bit )

Snoop Dogg/Lion IS kids music
Actually, it didn't really fully occur to me. His first video for the album had little kids in it and I thought the video was dumb. But it's all starting to make sense now and I am starting to see Snoop for the genius that he is.
He really did set out to make music that even kids could love. Turns out this evening I found out my son went to school and told his teacher he "loves Snoop Lion".
...as a side note he told some kids in class that he wants to smoke when he gets older. When his teacher caught him she was about to play him one of those video's they show kids of patients with extreme throat cancer. ...But then he told her that it wasn't cigarettes, but that it's a green plant that you roll up in white paper! 8)
Amazing that my son and I would end up bonding over Snoop! My favorite artist as a kid is now my son's favorite artist!

U DO GOTTA WATCH OUT WITH HIM TELLIN TEACHERS ABOUT WANTING TO SMOKE WEED, THOUGH...SOCIAL SERVICES IS A MUFUCKA

This has to be a joke. If not, it's really sad.

I really don't think it should of been moved. When we are talking about West Coast music, and the return of the West Coast; that is actually a big deal if the youth are getting into Snoop once more. To be now 20 years into his career, and to have found a way to recapture the eyes and ears of the youth, is a very significant achievement for Snoop and for the West Coast.
It's not some silly G-Spot topic where I am trying to troll about my son. This is serious, I was really amazed at that kind of crossover appeal Snoop has achieved with this album, between old and young. The only thing standing in his way is getting radio play. I thought it was wack Snoop had Miley Cyrus on the album but now I admire his decision. It was a very genuine move by him. If this Miley Cyrus song gets the radio play it deserves Snoop will be back on top of the game 20 years after he came out! That's a phenomenal achievement.
...By the way, my son has no idea who Hannah Montana is. His love for the album has nothing to do with Miley Cyrus. He just loves the music and has decided he loves Snoop. But Miley Cyrus could hold the key to this album reaching it's full potential and receiving it's due recognition.

The public school system is a joke. My son has never attended a day of public school, only privately owned Islamic daycare and school.

THIS THREAD IS A POTENTIAL CLASSIC..
THE FACT THAT IT WAS MOVED IS BLASPHEMOUS...LIKE WHO THE FUCK U THINK U ARE TO DICTATE WHAT GOES WHERE AGAINST THE RULES? THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT A WEST COAST ARTIST, AND WHOEVER WAS GAY ENOUGH TO DECIDE THAT THE POTENTIAL TRAFFIC A THREAD LIKE THIS COULD BRING DOESNT BELONG IN THE MAIN SECTION DESERVES TO BE IMMEDIATELY BANNED FOR BEING PART OF THE REASON THE FORUM IS LOSING VALUE.

so your son is training to be a terrorist?
No.. I don't think they teach the kids bomb making until the second semester, but I may have to review the course syllabus.

first semester is bomb making and woman beating
second semester is suicide missions
graduation rates are pretty low

That's cool that your son enjoys it and all but to say that he's "recaptured the eyes and ears of the youth" is a stretch at the very least.

Who moved this to G-Spot and why?

HoeKKa did that

all brians threads are comedy and belong in the gspot hes not informing anyone or breaking news you motherfuckers really gotta be bored to be all aggy about shit like this.
-
Y'all gotta stop letting NIK bitching you guys out. How ISN'T this G Spot material? I legitimately feel autistic after reading the first two sentences.
For Brian's sake this should get deleted before I get bored one day and send it to social services.
-
Because it's talking about westcoast music. I didn't need NIK to PM to be like, WTF is going on, why is this in G-Spot? In the westcoast forum, there has been worst. I have no idea how many threads dedicated to Snoop and 2Pac's beef, or well just crazy Snoop threads in general. So this thread fits. Only difference is people hating on Brian putting it up.

Possible...so maybe the solution is to ban Brian.
-
okay , now i have no doubt about this guy being an alias. or a character. this is so fucking ridiculous and too unreal.

The Ghost approves not of this bullshit.

So social services is now arresting fathers for playing Snoop's music and answering kids questions about smoking?
...Fuck dude, if that's true our society is even more hysterical than it was in the times of the Salem Witch Trials. Maybe I can get on the cover of Time or Newsweek under the title, "FATHER BUSTED FOR PLAYING SNOOP LION TO SON AND EXPLAINING HOW TOBACCO AND WEED PRODUCTS ARE MADE!" I mean this is a big story!

You sounded proud that you were educating your son about smoking buds, he's 7 for fucks sake! He should be watching Pokemon or some shit (I dunno what kids watch these days). Honestly breh if you didn't think people would have a problem with that, you're an idiot.
I've got no problem with people smoking weed, but if you're educating your child about that at the age of 7, chances are he's going to get into it before he's 12. I started smoking when I was 13, my short term memory was fucked for the longest because of it, it really is detrimental during the mental development.

So your whole reason for attacking me on this issue stems from your belief that weed is bad for memory?? LOL. Maybe that happens to idiots who sit idle, smoke weed, and watch adult cartoons all day.
...Anyway, you need not worry yourself about my son. He's a Muslim, and as Muslims we read and memorize portions of the Qu'ran in Arabic, with many people memorizing the entire book. It's a book containing rhyme, rhythm, and many blessings when read in Arabic, and therefore it strengthens and preserves ones memory throughout their entire life. 8)

I wonder if Infinite's kid would be better off if his father was Krazy instead...

goddamn dog!

good for him...

Yeah, 100% NIK made this thread.
-
DID THE SCHOOL CALL SOCIAL SERVICES?
No.. that shit probably only happens in public schools.
...The teacher just told me about it, about how he had told the other kids he was going to smoke when he grows up and that he loves Snoop Lion. That she was going to play a video about throat cancer but then he told her, "No, it's not cigarettes, it's a plant that is chopped up". So at that point she was just like, "I'm going to talk to your father".
She basically just told me what happened and that I should of told him I'd talk to him about that stuff when he was older.

that's her way of telling you that you are unfit to be a father. teaching a 7 year old about weed...have you no shame? Allah looketh down upon thee.

for shame

Kids aren't dumb. I knew a bunch about drugs when I was 7 and not because my parents. Just hearing from older kids, TV, whatever.. Also kinda hard to ignore the syringes and pipes littered everywhere (fucking junkies). If your child asks you about drugs lying won't serve any purpose, neither will ignoring the issue with some pokemon-parenting. Kids and teens shouldn't be potheads though, I agree, it's crucial time in your life when you need to learn to walk with no crutches.
-
lol the DARE program introduced me to drugs as a kid, kinda funny if you think about it.
-
lol i remember in grade school w the dare program a cop came in and lit a roach just so we could be familiar with the smell.
he was a buff ass psycho cop and he told us all right there to our faces if he catches us on the street he will break our necks lmao
that shit backfired the more the cop acted hard the more the kids taunted and chastized him it ended up pretty bad.
-

they would pass tiny bags of drugs around and let us sniff them (just like on Southpark...but nobody stole it like southpark lol)
