What's your favorite Bad Azz solo album? You can list his albums from best to worst if you want to.

Word On The Streets!

...its a very flawed album, yet I still find myself bumping it after all these years.  I've had it since the day it came out.  I still remember the video for the lead single, it was Snoops first appearance rockin a No Limit jersey.  But "Puttin It Down" still bangs in the speakers.

Then you got one of the most under-rated rap songs of all time on the album.  Track 17. "The Last Time" is a very touching track.  Apparantly one of the producers he workded with on that joint has a famous father or something but there was some cool back story to it someone posted here once.

Track 13 is a smooth joint too, has that laid back LBC crew feel to it.  I think its called "Dedication" off the top of my head.

The "Money Houses and Cars" joint wit soopafly on da beat and Kurupt on the mic is a nice joint.

Also the last joint on the album goes hard with the Jordan Maxwell intro, I think Badass maybe overstepped his boundaries a little as he's not exactly a political rapper, its more like something Cube would've done but still a joint I bump from time to time, regardless.

There's a few other cuts, I was real excited about BadAss from the jump he shined on "Beware of My Crew" and you could see he had talent... never really materialized as a solo artist, I think he was best as a member of LBC crew cause I don't know if he has the depth to carry a whole album.

No doubt... Snoop and the West really had a resurgence then.  It was a lot of artist like the Kokaines and Butch Cassidy and all the little producers they were really like a family at Dogghouse Records, the first Eastsidaz album was solid top to bottom and Last Meal everybody contributed to create posibly Snoops best album after Doggystyle.  From about 99 to 2002 Snoop and Dogghouse really spearheaded a West Coast resergence.  (Along with Dre and Xzibit who deserve as much or more of the credit for bringing the west back)

I gotta go with the first album, really close to a classic album in my opinion. If we're talkin about that "Classic" is an album you love from the start to the end and can bump it like that. I agree with Bad Azz though, it could've been a bit better. He should have taken a couple songs off. Here's what Bad Azz had to say about "Word On Tha Streets":

Quote
I love that album! But I know what's the catch about it and I knew it could have been better once it came out and once that I did it but it was my first record, and what I was doin' was I was makin' a model, I didn't know how to make a record, I knew how mentally, but physically and actually I had never made one, I just had the game to do make it. So what that was, that was a model, that was me takin' a shot dog, that was me sayin' "here's bad azz, whoopty woop I'm 22 years old, I never made a record, I been rappin' all this time, I'm makin' it professional, put it together and put it out. win loose or draw" And that's why I was proud of it. Like I said, I felt it could have been better, I felt I coulda done a lil more job to up my standards because I didn't put out the best record at that time when I had the mentality and I had the rap skills to do it. And that's where I learned alot from.

Yep.. that sounds about right.  Like I said it was a very flawed album but still bangs!

true indeed. i doubt the west will ever be as strong as that time period when the unity was still there wit those guys.

Personal Business, never liked Word On Tha Streets  that much. It's a very good album but I rarely play it for some reason. Never got into the lead single with Snoop.

Lil Beau aka Beau Dozier ? Maybe he's Lamont Dozier's son, but that would be news to me, and weird to know that an underground producer from the LBC happens to be the son of one of the most influential musicians of the 60's & 70's.

edit :
Just checked and he's indeed Lamont Dozier's son, that's crazy.

I’d say the argument could be made for “Word on tha Streets” and “Personal Business”.

Word on tha Streets has some classic artist and production from mid 90’s (Snoop Dogg, DJ Pooh, Ant Banks, Outlawz, Soppafly, Lady of Rage, Kurupt, Tray Dee, The Lowlifes ect, ect…
It’s one of those albums you would never really hear unless you are more of a Westcoast Music Connoisseur. And in that case it’s a must have for the collection.

Personal Business was a more polished album. It had more commercial appeal with a laundry list of established, up and coming and in house talent for that era. (Ice, Cube, Busta, Snoop, Rass Kass Kurupt, Daz, RBX, Lil ½ Dead, Suga Free, Kokane, Butch Cassidy, Sylk-E Fine, Doggy’s Angels, Val You. With production from Fredwreck, Jelly Roll, Battlect, Blaqthoven, L.T Hutton ect ect…)
Street Illustrated alone may win it for me:

Dogghouse Ridaz is a classic:

Actually I am going to have to go with Personal Business.

Although I personally do love Money Run. Even though it was a low budget thrown together album. It surprisingly gets a lot of play from me till this day. Not sure why.
My Streets (one of my favorites, I love the singer on the hook)

Come and Get It (Love the chick on this hook)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT_P6Uh7V68

It's A Party (ft. Soopafly, LaToiya Williams)   Classic Soppafly and I’m always a fan LaToiya Williams.

Does anybody have the remix of "We Be Puttin It Down" in good quality? I think DJ Pooh did the remix too.

^^Didn't know Bad made a video for "Ghetto Star" back in the day.  Shit is pretty dope, should've gotten more play on BET.   It's too bad he didn't get to put the Pac version on the album, would of helped his album sell a lot more.  This solo version is dope though.

I don't really consider Money Run an album since Bad didn't intend it to be.

Yeah, i know it was supposed to be a compilation according to Bad Azz. I thought i'd put it on the poll anyway. Didn't wanna include the album with Bizzy Bone since Bad Azz didn't even remember that he had an album comin' out and was askin' for a link to it on Twitter when it came out. I could've included the LBC Crew album also. Wide Awake fucked up with the release of that album though, it's a shame that they for whatever reason didn't release it with the original tracklist. Best album they put out though.

Personal Business bangs as well.. Still mad that "westcoast plantation" didn't make the final cut, tho
