Title: Carvalho signs for Monaco
Post by: Elano The One And Only on May 28, 2013, 10:49:09 PM
The 35-year-old former Real Madrid defender has agreed a 12-month deal with the newly-promoted Ligue 1 side

Ricardo Carvalho is the latest player to sign for Monaco after agreeing a one-year deal with the French club.

The 35-year-old defender, who spent three seasons at Real Madrid before his switch to Claudio Ranieri's side, completed his move to the Principality on Tuesday where he will join Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, who recently completed a €70m switch from Porto.

Carvalho told the official club website: "I'm very happy to join Monaco and to be part of the new adventure. This is a new challenge for me."

The newly-promoted Ligue 1 side backed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev are also close to finalising a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who was in Monaco for a medical on Tuesday, and Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is reportedly close to sealing a move.

Carvalho was in the Champions League-winning Porto side which beat Monaco 3-0 in the 2004 final.

lmao will Monaco be the new Chelsea or QPR ? we can argue that PSG has done better than Manchester City so far (a domestic title and CL quarter finals in just two years and one participation when it took three years for MC to get to the champions league and they've never gotten past the group stages although winning the Premier League is far more difficult than winning L1).

the homie Lunatic must be happy, Porto's tradition of capital gain is continued, and once again French clubs are the cash cows.

Dortmund is willing to sell Lewa to anybody but Bayern, but Lewa only wants to go to Bayern. Looks like the player and the club have a big fallout, apparently Lewandwoski communicates with Dortmund only through his lawyer right now.

I have to admit, things are looking grim out now. Dortmund has a shitload of money, and I though it should be easy to replace and reinforce the squad, but the market is crazy this summer. Monaco, Cheslki, Man City, Real all act  like lunatics. There are too many sugardaddy clubs out there.
