I think this is one of Quik's best beats, and probably the best of his smoother beats. I can understand why he used it twice:

This beat never gets old. I prefer James DeBarge's solo track, but even Won-G's wack lyrics sound dope over this beat. Gotta love the "Nothing's Wrong" video...Quik looks like he had a good time.

Rhythm-A-Lism and Balance & Options are his smoothest album by far.

best albums too.
great track. the won g version is good for only the fact the single has the instrumental on it 8)
but the james debarge vocal is perfect, as always, over this era of quik beat. so smooth.

Elano's Interlude

Yeah, Balance & Options also has Quik's second smoothest beat: Roger's Groove. I play Divorce Song + Roger's Groove every time I ride an airplane. Love that shit.
-
i made a beat out of a snippet from rogers groove shit sounds trippy.

PROPS for this dope shit homie.
Also, regarding Nothing's Wrong: is this song dedicated to the Theo of 92.3? I'm guessing he went through a divorce before this song or something?

no idea i'm afraid.
the shello track is particularly awesome considering its quite an early beat...1994. the sound is impeccable. a real grown up groove, great sax and guitar licks and somehow a cowbell in the loop too 8)

and on the topic of the most smooth quik beats, there are too many...
i always loved this one though...more downtempo, debarge and the talkbox at the end is perfect 8)

When it comes to Quik's smoothest beats, I always think of Classic 220. One of my favorite Quik produced albums 8) Other songs with 2nd II None too like Didn't Mean 2 Turn U On

Also, Balance & Options' outro, too bad it didn't last longer.

Good shout on 'Dip Da', I love that beat. Also 'Doe Doe & Skunk' and 'If U Stay Ready' from Street Gospel are smooth Quik productions.
I think 'B Alright' from 2nd II None's The Shit might be the smoothest though. 'Tha Dogg In Me' from the same album is also a laidback g-funk beat. And 'Thinkin Bout U' from Rhythm-al-ism is mellow as hell.

yes sir !!!

I would add two tracks to the discussion:
Mausberg f/ AMG & Hi-C - I Can Feel That
2nd II None - Don't U Hide It
These are among the best smooth Quik beats. One on 1 and Let's Get Down also deserve mention.
