Bayern Munich’s kit sponsors adidas are demanding answers after new signing Mario Gotze caused a PR disaster on his official unveiling by brandishing a huge Nike tick across his t-shirt.

The German sportswear manufacturers – who as well as supplying the kit, also own a 9.1 per cent stake in the club – were left fuming after the £32million new signing’s ‘non-regulation’ attire was allowed to slip past Bayern officials.

‘The pictures from today’s press conference with Mario Gotze have negatively surprised us,’ confirmed a spokesman.
