Title: Pusha T details long-delayed solo album, dismisses rumors of Cruel Winter
Post by: Elano The One And Only on July 08, 2013, 10:45:36 PM
Pusha T’s long-awaited solo debut, My Name is My Name, was originally due out on July 16th. But as he revealed to Charlotte radio station Power 98 (via Radio.com), the album has been pushed back a month.

The rapper blamed “politics and logistics” for the album’s delay, though as recently as last week, he was still working on the album, as producer Hudson Mohawke revealed on Twitter. Aside from Mohawke, the album will feature production from Kanye West, Pharrell, The-Dream, and Swizz Beatz, along with guest appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, Future, and Young Jeezy.

He’s quite confident in the end result: “My album is the best album of the year… I think the streets are going to have a classic hip-hop album. My Name is My Name is definitely the hardest album that’s going to come out this year for sure.”

Another interesting tidbit: the album’s lead single, “Who I Am”, was originally a Kanye track. “This record, man, I’m going to be honest. I had to fight and steal this record from ‘Ye,” Pusha explained. “I heard the record and I loved it, and he called to tell me he wasn’t going to be able to give me the record. I ran in the studio real quick and laid a verse to it. I was like, ‘Nah, this is my record already. I already rapped to it. What are you talking about?’ We just went back and forth, and he ended up giving me the record… It’s just that energy I’m trying to bring back to the streets.”

And speaking of Kanye, Pusha dismissed the latest batch of rumors regarding the release of Cruel Winter, the on-again, off-again sequel to G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer. “We’re not doing the Cruel Winter album or the Cruel Summer sequel. There are too many projects we got going on,” Pusha said. “Like I said, you got the Yeezus album, you got the Hall of Fame coming from [Big] Sean, you got my project, you got the 2 Chainz project. Like once we get all of that situated, then I’m sure… I mean, you even have Common coming. Right now, we’re not working on [any] compilations.”

Probably just giving him some room since Cole, Kanye and Jay have all dropped within a month. Pusha woulda got lost in the mix.

"Numbers On The Board" flopped too.
