what are your favorite 3 songs from the classic Me Against The World album??

Young Niggaz, Dear Mama, and Temptations. It was a tough three to pick too because I love the title track.

That's a tough call. I mean other than Pac's magnum opus "Dear Mama" you really don't have any tracks that stand out from the others as nearly all of them are classic. A great album from top to bottom one of the greatest albums ever recorded, and possibly even the greatest ever.
At different times different cuts were my favs. When the album first came out I remember I didn't like the second single that much "Temptations" so I thought back then being young that maybe "Dear Mama" was the only dope cut on there. "So Many Tears" was another single but I don't ever remember that video getting airplay.
It wasn't till 98 when I was chilling at a friends house we had some girls over and that album was playing from beggining to end while we were getting down, and it was "It Ain't Easy" that really caught my attention and then the few songs that followed "Can You Get Away" and "Old School" really grabbed me.
After I finally bought it for myself, "If I Die 2nite" and "Me Against the World" became my favorite tracks.
Guess now I would have to say "So Many Tears", "Old School" and "Dear Mama" are my favorite cuts.

Old School. Was always one of my favorite Pac songs and is one that it seems like most casual fans haven't heard.

This is by far his best album. I just wished he was alive to make full, complete albums like this. To me this is real music for the soul.
Couldn't really say whats better between Me Against the World and So Many Tears.

As we all agree this is a great album from start to finish so its hard to pick.
But im going to stay away from the obvious big tracks on this album and vote for the more lesser know
to the wider audience tracks if you know what i mean!

when i was younger my favorite tracks were Outlaw / So Many Tears / Fuck the World
But now, my favorite tracks are If I Die 2nite / Me Against the World / So Many Tears. they all have that urgency, rawness, spontaneity that I love in 2pac.

I give you props for that. Sounds like you are the same age as me. I definitely knew who Pac was at the time, I had been a fan of him since "I Get Around" first dropped. Funny story though is that I went to the store to buy his album and didn't buy it just because it said "Strictly 4 My Niggaz" and I thought that was racist or something, so I bought the single to "Keep Your Head Up" instead. So I was a Pac fan before Me Against the World dropped. Then, as I said above when Me Against the World dropped and the second single "Temptations" video didn't really grab me so I didn't buy the album at first. Wasn't till 3 years after it dropped that I finally got into the whole album, so you were wiser then me back in the day.

Funny this poll is for 3 of your favourite tracks as I have only ever heard 3 tracks off here.... Dear Mama, Me Against The World and So Many Tears.

If I Die 2nite, Lord Knows and It Ain't Easy are my Top 3. If I Die 2nite showed Pac's skills as a technical/lyrical artist - they way this song was written just blows me away 8)
With that being said, I still think "Outlaw" should be replaced with "Throw Ya Hands Up" - that song's the bomb 8)

If I Die 2nite, Lord Knows and It Ain't Easy are my Top 3. If I Die 2nite showed Pac's skills as a technical/lyrical artist - they way this song was written just blows me away 8)
there's nothing really mindblowing about If I Die 2Nite from a technical standpoint, there's just a strong emphasis on alliterations throughout the song (with the letters S and P primarily "picturing pitiful punk niggaz copping pleas" / "i'm sick of psychotic society somebody save me"). nothing unheard of or very difficult to come up with. but it's very efficient and the energy and urgency conveyed by Pac's delivery are unfuckwitable.

Lord Knows is the best song on this album. It epitomizes the Pac's pre-Death Row style. Great energy and lyrics. Though I prefer DeathRow-era Pac to pre-DR Pac.

I've always felt Pac's content was stronger on this than say something like "All Eyez On Me". For instance, how he tackles lust and male bravado on "Temptations" versus "How Do U Want It?". The latter is more of an elaborate production but the content on the former is far more compelling and interesting to me.

the content is stronger and the vibe is somewhat gloomier, darker. you can feel that pac was disillusioned and deeply troubled as he was creating the album. there aren't many party tracks. some brainless/hopeless gangsta tracks : death around the corner / heavy in the game / if I die 2nite / fuck the world. Pac is on a "fuck the world" tip but not in a nihilistic way like on AEOM (except for heavy in the game maybe which is your average bay area mobb track), more in a rebellious way. then you have the sad/gloomy tracks : so many tears / lord knows / outlaw. pac has a very depressed outlook on life and he sounds at times suicidal. and you have laid back tracks where Pac is either reminiscing or appreciating things out of life : Dear Mama, Old School, I Can't Get Away, It Ain't Easy. and you have the title track, perfectly chosen, that embodies a little bit of all that. Pac sounds wistful and nostalgic and questions societies' flaws over a dope beat, and Khadafi blesses us with a dope verse.
that's what I like about this album so much, the depth, the cohesiveness and the blending of east and westcoast influences. lyrically and delivery wise, it's more of a westcoast album, and beatwise, except for the Mike Mosley tracks, it's more of an eastcoast albums, the better beats being provided by the legendary Easy Mo Bee

Pac's best album no doubt...I became a fan when he joined Death Row like mostly everyone else but I went back and listened to this and realized this was his peak 8)

the easy mo beat is crazy and Pac's voice is so raw on that song 8)

This is my favorite PAC album hands down. It pretty much shows a bunch of sides of him. I feel every track and can't really single one out. I chose "DEATH AROUND THE CORNER" the track bangs as much as any other on this album. But the "AMERICAN ME" sample they use one this is GENIUS!!!!

My top 3 would be 'Lord Knows', 'If I Die 2Nite' and 'So Many Tears'. All classic 2Pac tracks. It's been a while since I listened to this album actually - I must listen again soon.

My favorite song on Me Against The World is also my favorite Pac song of all time and thats Lord Knows. That song is like damn near perfect to me. The story telling, the emotion, the way he rode the beat. In my opinion Pac at his best.

If I Die Tonight - his use of illiteration on this one was very good. Some real MC shit.
Me against the world - I used to listen to this one all the time way back whenever I felt like things weren't going my way. His last verse is ridiculous.

Back when I was younger I use to give the beat a listen and if I didn't like it the first 5 seconds skip it....so I slept on "LORD KNOWS" however that became my favorite song.
Like someone else said, the emotion of the song and the energy of the chorus. One of those songs that have replay value "until the end of the time"

that's not Montell tho that's a singer called G Money. he also sang on the original unreleased version of Do for Love or Sucka for Love as some people call it

But this is my favorite Pac album so depending on the day it could be three different tracks, just depends on my mood. It Ain't Easy and Old School are also right up there for me. There aren't many albums that I think are as consitent throughout as Me Agains The World, the production is flawless and Tupac isn't even my favorite rapper so I'm not biased.

I went with "So Many Tears," but it was really tough to choose. To me, "Me Against the World" is a nearly perfect album, so it's tough to decide which track I think is the best.
