This.
His response to the verse was fire, but really he's using it as a platform to get his shit heard.
-

If you didn't get mentioned, that's an even bigger insult. Although I would say Kendrick gave the older rappers props and dissed the young ones. And Slaughterhouse, as much as they might hate to admit it, is a camp of older rappers. Still, if someone claims the crown of New York, then someone from New York has to defend it. And if K-Dot does go bar for bar with Ortiz, that's one credible cat to beat in order to claim the crown. I give Ortiz a slight edge so far though, mainly because Kendrick was not as focused to Ortiz and Ortiz came in HARD at Kendrick at first. We'll see what happens, but this is the spark Hip Hop needs.

i doubt kendrick will respond...why should he?? aint his fault...they not steppin their game up...
ortiz response should show rap fans...how new york niggas are...they sit n let biggie jay n nas...be recognize as kings...n dont do shit to dethrone em...
but the 1nce and every blue moon rapper from out town...comes n take that claim....it a problem..
if they was goin at jay n nas head more...out of town cats wouldnt see the weakness...
kendrick literally run the city...i bet money when the control song leaked...kendrick song was playin on hot 97 in new york..
ortiz came off to me as bitter..be cause his click wasnt recognized...2 cats who kendrick idiolize and respect wasnt recognize...u think e-40 n lil wayne gone drop somethin...
u throw a rock at a pack of dogs sayin still is true to this day...ortiz shouldve got a song with kendrick..then went in...
-
I still don't know why Ortiz was bitter, the verse was aimed at rappers under 30 and new to the game. No one in Slaughthouse is under 30 and everyone is at least 10 years deep. Still, I think K-Dot does respond, and I think he has the skill to take out Ortiz.
Here is what Ortiz's response showed me, all these new young cats don't have enough to defend New York. The only ones looking to defend New York is Fabolous and Ortiz and a few other older cats. These guys would never challenge Jay or Nas for the crown, because they money ain't right to challenge Jay or Nas. But they will defend. But these young cats wouldn't challenge Jay or Nas, and they wouldn't defend.
-
Flex premiered it so NY caught the wave first hand lol
-
Flex just wants New York cats to step up too. This is a direct challenge to all them cats who claim fake crowns and yet put in no work.
-
flex can take it back to when nobody in the south was gettin play on new york radio...
flex is a cat that smile in ya face then talk shit about u when u gone...
city full of rappers..yet they go else where for their summer jam...
-
WHERE PAPOOSE WHEN U NEED HIM?
-
Only dude who'd make this interesting is Drake. And Drake never truly gets caught up in deep beef. Yeah, he dissed Chris Brown and Aristo, but he never responded to Pusha T and people been waiting to see Drake go bar for bar with someone. Everyone else I can see Kendrick doing in a couple of tracks and New York is already opened to him like Kim is open to Kanye. So basically, it's a done deal.

Definitely superior to what Kendrick was doing.
And did anybody take that Dre line as a diss to Dre? I couldn't really tell...
-
drake cannot spit....lol
kendrick gotta deal with 3 other niggas who can spit in his own camp...he would run laps around drake..
drake dot is built for it if it was to happen..
drake knows who to go at...
u see he was sneak dissin sean....but didnt say nuthin 2 luda..
n how he did common..said he would respond kuz common was lookin 4 album sales..then turned around n threw a sub at em..

are you on crack? drake can't write battle bars, he'd get his ass ripped apart by amateurs in the battles he sponsors lmao
-
Which is why I personally want to see him respond. Over hyped and needs to be exposed.
-
fair point but his stanbase would never admit when he loses
-
Your right one that. They are claiming victory over Common, even though Common killed him with that Canada Dry line and Drake had nothing in Stay Scheming.
-
Joell is a beast. I got the feeling though that the rappers responding mostly don't really get Kendrick's message.
-
I bet 95% of the cats who replied don't even realize it was a kurupt quote

LOL Flex is a fuckin joke please. He plays and drops bombs according to how much insert rapper name heres record label has payed his programming director. If Kendrick wasnt down wit Interscope he'd be another strugglin underground rapper nobody gives a shit about and virtually unknown in NY.

If Jay-Z wasn't down with Def Jam, he'd be a struggling drug dealer who's doing another 10 year bid in prison, your point is?

uh... Jay Z broke out independently first, he had a distribution deal with Priority Records, he wasn't broke when signing on Def Jam, nor was he a drug dealer anymore lol.
and Kendrick had a huge buzz before being on Interscope, it ain't liked Interscope picked him up from scratch and made him who he currently is. i'm not sure he was struggling like that with TDE alone, more like thriving independently even though he was only known by rap fans only.

I was just making up stuff. Of course Kendrick and Jay would be big because they created their own buzz with Roc-A-Fella first being on Priority and TDE being an internet hit. So when BiggSadot said what he said, I countered with another dumb statement.

I bet 95% of the cats who replied don't even realize it was a kurupt quote
which line from the song is a Kurupt line?
"I'M THE KING OF NEW YORK, I'M A MUSLIM ON PORK"
-
Kendrick did mix it up a bit, but basically rearranged the lines.
Kendrick:
I'm important like the pope, I'm a muslim on pork
I'm Makaveli's offspring, I'm the king of New York
King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both
The juggernaut's all in your jugular, you take me for jokes
Kurupt:
I'm important like the Pope, I'm the king of New York
I'm live from South Central, I'm a Muslim on pork
I think the way Kurupt said it, it's basically all these crazy things, like a Muslim on pork, he's from SC when he's actually from Inglewood, were as Kendrick mixed in King of the Coast which there is some truth to that so his rhyme has a bit more bite. And if New York wasn't thinking the same thing, they wouldn't have reacted. There is some truth that Kendrick is one of the hottest rappers in NY, especially with that Jay-Z remix of Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe. So it was a Kurupt quote, but done in a way that had more bite than what Kurupt did. Rakim's son seem to really like it.
-
kurupt never said he was from south central.. and the lines were the same, just reversed. i dont think kendrick realized people would take it the way they did.
-

I have no doubt he thought people would get salty. If he didn't, then why mention 'Pac.
-
he was just quotin kurupt...wasnt sposta' blow up like it did.
-
he was just quotin kurupt...wasnt sposta' blow up like it did.
Yet he added Makaveli, being the King of the Coast. Kurupt didn't do that. He knew what he was doing. People are saying Kendrick is the king of the coast, so there is some element of truth to grab so that people will take that line sideways. That was intentional.
-
he just tried to take it and flip it into somethin more extreme...thats what emcees do. it didnt deserve the attention it got.
-

It got attention because he mentioned emcees by name. You want attention, you mention emcees by name. So when it was leaked, first the names grabbed attention, then people pressed replay on YouTube and heard the rest. Then people took it how they wanted too. Kendrick wanted the attention, or he wouldn't have called out names.
-
of course he WANTED attention....one would have 2 be dumb 2 argue that
-
I think the way Kurupt said it, it's basically all these crazy things, like a Muslim on pork, he's from SC when he's actually from Inglewood
Kurupt is from Hawthorne, South Central.
"Kurupt from the SC, you wanna test me let's see if you'll survive 45 times"
-
lol thats true......still livin up 2 the title

You are right on that. Shit. I have no idea why I was thinking Inglewood. :P

If Kendrick wanted attention, then he deserves the attention.

"I'M THE KING OF NEW YORK, I'M A MUSLIM ON PORK"
That line was fuckin' dumb... like one of the worst liines of the disstrack... well, to be honest, I don't even like the diss track any damn way, but that line actually stood out as being one of the worst lines. And I don't remember Kurupt ever saying that line. Which track did Kurupt say that line? Surely doubt it was during his prime at Death Row...

That's what Kendrick said. The other line was how Kurupt said it. And it's on a track called Get Bizy. Kendrick is featured on there.

Kurupt is a legend... I listen to his old stuff all the time. But anything he's done since The Streetz Is A Mutha I haven't even been checking for. So I totally missed that nod to Kurupt by Kendrick

I thought this track was good. I felt Joell was a bit too bitter sounding on it. Like he was offended. I wouldn't categorize this as "owning" anyone though.
