Big Sean stopped through the Power 105 Breakfast Club for the second time this month addressing “Control”, the Diddy- J. Cole fight, and the Danny Brown Detroit drama. However when on the topic on “Control” responses, Sean stunned listeners as he responded to Papoose’s verse by saying “Who?”.
While discussing the outrage that Big Sean’s Kendrick Lamar assisted track has stirred in the hip-hop community, the rapper said he’s in disbelief. “Man I feel like people are taking it way too serious. People are turning up, especially people that didn’t get named”, stated Big Sean. Then when Charlamagne brought up the topic of Papoose and his aggressive come back, Sean brushed off the host’s comment responding “Who?”. Likely taking shots at the relevancy of the rapper’s career.
As for the whispers on if he’s to blame for the alleged J. Cole-Diddy fight Sean simply states “Rumors is Rumors”. Explaining that the rap game is all just a friendly competition.”We all do it to be the best at what we do”, explained Big Sean.
In response to Danny Brown’s comments on Sean’s lack of love for their city Sean says Brown was completely out of line and he does not know what Brown was talking about. However he wants no problems with Danny assuring, “I feel like everybody in Detroit has to stick together and not be so one sided”.

How into Hip Hop was Big Sean? Unless you're really into Hip Hop, Papoose isn't a name that you'll really know. You had to be paying attention when the Mixtape era blew up to know who Pap was. I don't remember exactly when Alphabetical Slaughter dropped, but Big Sean may have not been into Hip Hop like that.
It's not like he said he didn't know who KRS-One was.
-
that's true ^
but still, Papoose is known. unlike let's say, L.A.M.B. (sorry NIK :D haha)
-
It's unfortunate, but Pap is kinda like Jae Hood, Jae Millz (I guess anyone with Jae in their name), Graf, etc. Mixtape rappers that had a ton of hype in the early to mid 00's, but are just footnotes now.
-
papoose made bigger moves than those guys all did though
-
Yeah. He released his album. About 7 years too late, but it did get released.
-
papoose is a dick though..tried fucking over some new england cats.
never showed up to do a show and sent his goons to collect the money under the impression he DID do the show. fuckin faggot if u ask me. dope rhymes but i'd never buy his shit.
-
I'm assuming that was a fuck-that-nigga who and not a literal who.
But even so Papoose isn't a household name. Outside of NY the dude is nobody even at his peak.
-
In a sense I don't blame him. I don't think Papoose has been "relevant" (or as relevant as Papoose could be) since '07.
-
Make all the excuses you want, inexcusable to not know Papoose.
This was just a cop out to keep it off wax. This is the reason Kendrick made that verse in the first place. Same reason why Meek won't answer Budden. Same reason why nobody named will answer Kendrick. Nobody wants to get abused in the public's eyes.
In his sleep, Sean could make a more poppin' song than Pap could in ten years, but straight bars? Sean's getting bodied and he knows it.

Papoose gets love in my city/state
-
like 3 people know who papoose is so i dont fault him for that
-
lol2 this.
I was surprised Papoose responded.

Props to Big Sean. If Papoose wants to be talked about, he needs to do more than disses and mixtapes. He can't build a career by himself. Why talk about the opinion of a rapper that completely disappeared the last couple years, that came out of nowhere and did a response to Kendrick's verse, a response that completely misses the point that Kendrick was making.
Fuck that shit, you don't even talk about that Papoose guy/rapper/freestyler/whatever.
He wants to be talked about? You better than everyone? Why not dropping hot joints non stop then?
-
I guess Papoose is Bishop Lamont of New York.

I guess Papoose is Bishop Lamont of New York.
except he actually dropped his album and has dozens of classic mixtapes.

i forgo about alphabetical slaughter....for some reason i've never cared about "alphabetical" raps even though i recognize how hard it is to write a good one.

Papoose is as relevant as let's say Bad Azz in California. Will your informed Hip Hop fan know both of them? Yes. Will a casual fan in their own state know them? More than likely. But, when you start crossing state lines, the recognition drops. Not knowing someone like G Rap, Ghostface... that's inexcusable. But, Papoose, not so much.

That, to me, is inexcusable. But, I can see it being a possibility. Without really knowing how deep 50 was into Hip Hop (especially since Music was not nearly as accessible when Quik was at his hottest as it is today).
