lots of producers took a stab at g funk beats especially during deathrows reign this isnt to demean them or as a derogatory thing but who was the best non westcoast affiliated producer to do g funk? dont come in here with any of the wierd E -funk* producers please. only american producers thanks.

jermaine dupree rode the fuck out of the funk movement he made two mini snoops (bow wow and da brat) andkriss kroass albums all sound like deathrow beats.
although kriss kross the bomb and im real was cold as fuck. anyways young rich and dangerous was suppposed to be like dogg food etc etv etc
he had a prodege named mr black that was dope as fuck though.

Yeah the first one that sprung to mind for me was JD.
Some of his beats were pretty good though, especially the beat to "JD Feat Da Brat & Usher - The Party Continues" 8)

whether we like him or not, JD is a legendary producer, always able to produce hot shit and classics in his g-funk days => the b-side with BIG & Da Brat. even on Daz's So So Gangsta, the best beats were produced by JD : The One, Badder Than A Mutha, All I Need.
Tone Capone, although affiliated with Rap-a-Lot, is from the Bay. some producers from the south & east not only took a stab a it but completely mastered the genre (mike dean, t-mix)

erick sermons never did no g funk...he incorperated zapp claps before dj quik. i Don't count focus that sounded like dj quik mostly touched that.
he used parliament samples but in a different way flipping the atomic dog sample for example on redmans dare is the darkside intro and making it into some gritty east coast shit same with the way he sampled zapp on Cross over

ive been sayin before that he was one of the orginators, although, as you pointed out before, it doesnt sound exactly the same. but yeah EPMD were fuckin wit Zapp since the late 80's, they're even featured on their fifth album if i remember correctly (haven't played the album in four years).

i remember the second ever issue of the source i bought had redman with a bunch of tissue stuffed in his nose.
they asked about the liberal use of funk in his work with eric sermon i cant remember word for word but he said something along the lines of theyre funk is my funk and my funk is theirs we just do it a lil different but the roots are the same thats why he likes getting on records with mc eiht spice one among many others.
eric sermon is definetly one of the greatest hip hop producers of all times.

EPMD were the innovators sampling George Clinton and Zapp str8 up! At that time most of the West where sampling James Brown....
