That's still amazing that the song wasn't on Dogg Food because Daz "didn't feel like mixing it". You'd have to think that record would've offset some of the tension caused by "New York, New York".

Btw, for everyone saying Suge didn't have anything to do with these classic albums, peep that quote at the end. Dude had all that talent chipping in their best efforts for which ever project was dropping next. Incredible.

yeah and this would have stirred more debate and eventually generated more buzz for Dogg Food, plus the fact that Meth & Red were likely to attract more casual rap fans. another version is that Daz lost the reel and couldn't find it when they gave the masters for the album and that when he found it Dogg Food was already released.

i don't think that's particularly "incredible" or unheard of before but yeah Suge had the say on which album was the priority. Dogg Food wasn't supposed to come out before Rage's album and even LBC Crew's album was pretty much done before Dogg Food but Suge endorsed it and everybody pushed for it.

Was the LBC Crew album ever advertised or given a release slot?

Ok that story actually makes more sense. Still irresponsible but better than just "didn't feel like it" lol.

Nah man it is incredible. Artist are selfish. For him to convince (or possibly intimidate) them into giving up their hit records to make somebody else's project better is incredible. I believe 50 was able to do that with his artist too. But I couldn't really imagine Birdman taking records from Drake, Wayne, Nicki, and everybody else to make Busta's album better.

Dogg Food was released in 95. I doubt LBC Crew was even together at that time. I believe their project was slated for 97 after Tha Doggfather.

Think the LBC Crew was recoding 94/95

The LBC Crew compilation (Big C-Style & Snoop Doggy Dogg as executive producers) was recorded in 1994-95. This year, Snoop established DoggyStyle Records under Death Row Records. There was a little promotion for the new imprint. First, DoggyStyle Records was Lil C-Style, Bad Azz and Techniec as LBC Crew, LT Hutton (official producer), Tray Deee and LowLifes. In 1995, Soopafly was under his own GangstaGangsta Muzic but then signed with Snoop. Charlie Wilson from Gap Band was signed too. The final version was ready to be released in January 1996 but failed. The same year, Death Row Records planned to released a DoggyStyle Records compilation with material recorded by LBC Crew, LowLife, Snoop and Charlie Wilson. Some LowLifes material was released then by Big C-Style in LBC 19th Street Compilation. Other material leaked some months ago with the 19th Street digital bootleg.

This is old. This happens all the time. This is basically what happened with 50 & The Game - but then 50 claimed the writing credits to sway the public & take credibility away from The Game after their beef. Cuz technically, Dogg Pound wrote "Got My Mind Made Up", just like Dre (aka ghostwriters) wrote "California Love" if we used the same logic.
