Title: Roland from Gang Related soundtrack = Dj Quik?

Hey I know that Quik couldn't be normally credited on Death Row projects, so they used his real name. But I'm little confused about guy named Roland. His song Freak Somethin' appeared on Gang related soundtrack and he sound like Quik - even beat sound like his work. So It's Quik?

i doubt thats quik, some other sites like imdb.com credited the guy as ju-c.so did some1 say on youtube comments that was "his uncle ju-c", so i really dont know who that guy is and how ended up on the soundtrack.that cut was of though.

I don't think so, don't remember Quik doing anything on "Gang Related" offhand

Doesn't sound like DJ Quik at all, it would be reaching to say that the beat sounds like a Quik beat too.  Doesn't stop it from being a great joint though.

It definitely does sound like Quik and I remember being 11 or 12 at the time buying that album and thinking it was Quik until looking at the credits. Great track, for a double CD that album had very little filler.

I don't get how you guys are hearing Quik.  Stylistically, they sound similar and all but this guy's voice and flow really don't sound like Quik to me.

one things for sure:

dj quik had nothing to do with this track.
track was produced by tommy d and carl "butch" smalls.

the question is: who is roland and how he got on the soundtrack.he disappeared after that.

thatīs why i said some1 should ask tommy d.

Ju-C aka Juicy aka Roland ain't David Blake. This guy got an imprint under Death Row Records named Gamedog Records. His name is Roland Williams, like Cody ChesnuTT (Anonymous), he was a writer for Death Row artists for a few times.
