I mean like on Kendrick's level in popularity in the hip hop community. This guy is insane.. His music is just top notch. He's got the lyrics & the beats & I'd say he's probably the "realest" rapper out there. Jeezy don't want none 8)

I hate to say it but he needs a radio cut to bring him to the masses...otherwise he will stay doing what he does, which might be ok.

Yeah, no radio appeal = no popularity.
Swimming Pools, that joint with Drake, Jay-Z adding himself to "Bitch, Dant Kill My Vibe"...son was all over the waves.
-
who gives a fuck about popularity though ?
dude seems to be just fine just the way he is, it's not like he lacks recognition or popularity within the genre itself, which is the best measuring stick. and he's constantly touring, recording new music, down with most artists, veterans and youngins alike. i say he's doing pretty well.
i don't see gibbs compromising to gain mainstream visibility, he seems not to give a single fuck lol and that's part of his persona.

Yeah but lets be honest, Kendrick was getting alot of recognition before the whole Aftermath deal & record (I'm talking about his fanbase & gaining popularity without the radio. Let's say Schoolboy Q status).

Dude is making paper of course & is a staple in hip hop right now. & as big as he is I just think his popularity & status in hip-hop should be way more up.

I would doubt he's making music paper. He might be pulling down 50k a year after costs, maybe.

Gibbs should be up there with Kendrick, Schoolboy Q, Pusha T, etc. in terms of exposure
he had a few joints during his stint with Jeezy that could have easily taken off "Pull Up", "Bout It Bout It", "Mobbin'" all had radio appeal but Jeezy wasn't pushing his artist(s) enough
-
Haven't heard much from dude. Someone should post some songs.

Thanks. Yeah, he seems pretty good, but I don't think he has the type of sound to become a "big name" or whatever you want to call it.

Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik, Cold Day In Hell, BFK are all modern personal classics to me

He's about to go on tour with Tech N9ne. "Independent Grind Tour"

IMO BFK gets mad weak after #11 and the other two have some tracks that are just not that great. But you could definitely create a classic double album with the best shit from these three. 8)
Edit: Okay, rechecked BFK, mad weak is a bit strong.

Straightaway, I can't come up with any rapper with almost exclusively (non-gimmicky) gangsta/trap content that has that status. Maybe a bit one-dimensional in that regard?

Dre co-signed him before he actually signed him. Last two guys Dre co-signed besides Bishop Lamont was Eminem and 50 Cent lol.
