Title: Future ofThe West Coast???
Post by: An-Tony-O Montana on March 21, 2003, 08:08:07 AM
how ya'll think is the future of the west coast??? like crooked i been sayin' in interviews for the last 10 years it's been the same artists we're hearin' i.e. snoop, dre... i know theres so much shit goin' on throu the underground but i mean artists that are gettin' get air play n shit and bring the west back in the spotlight... first off, i wanna say i don't giva fuck about mainstream hiphop but the west ain't gittin' no attention, l@@k at the talent u got... Luni Coleone, Killa Tay, C-Bo, X-Raided, Yukmouth, Dru Down, Dj Quik (Retired  :-[), Foesum, The Twinz, Daz, E-White, all the Bay Are n Sac Town, DPG Recordz, IV Life Records... the list goes on and on... but realistically all these artists have good underground followings but the future of the coast, the ones that are gonna bring it back 2 the top are...

1. Crooked I & Death Row
2. Roscoe & Y.A.
3. Mitchy Slick
4. Daz

that's about it...

It's pointless to say who are the ones with talent on the West Coast. Everyone in this board knows there's a whole lot of talent on the West Coast. It ain't about that. It's something else than the music - what appeals to the audiences, label bullshit, how they sell themselves etc etc...

They got a solid quality product on the West Coast. What they need to do is get people interested in it.

Oh and nobody mentioned Dr. Stank.

its going nowhere unless theres a big earthquake and it drops into the pacific... there will always be times where people and 'sounds' etc shift around

there may well be a 'nu-west' sound or something... only time will reveal ;)

Title: The Future of the West Coast is Sheist.
Post by: West_C_Internal on March 23, 2003, 12:56:16 PM
Shade Sheist, as well as Baby Ree / PaperWork Entertainment will be the core of WestCoast music, give them about another year (or less). It's not a conspiracy that all of the important WestCoast artists and producers are finding a way to be a part of their team.

In other shocking Shade Sheist news, I was shown publishing documents from the man himself that listed some of the songs he has ghostwrote over the last 4 years, and although it was my word I wouldn't release the specifics, I do have to say that this guy (Sheist) is IMPORTANT. Everyone may not like his songs, but you all LOVE some of the songs he has helped write. Love him or Hate him, you have to Respect someone that intelligent.

I can see Roscoe blow up if he releases  a good single, or else Nate Dogg can really bring the West to the top with a big summer single

True what you say homie. It's like, the only artists from the west who's still seeling is the same artists thats been on the top of the game for a dedaced now, Snoop, Dre and R.I.P. 2pac.

I really hope some new faces blow up, and personally I really believe in Crooked I and E-White. Both Snoop and Suge has experience in the game to help them on their way..

Peace brothers.

4 me the future of westcoast rap is the whole dpgc camp and death row as long as the dont act gay with murder inc. the question is: are u talkin about westcoast rap for everybody (mainstream, charts)? i mean daz is my favorite westcoast musican cuz i luv most of his songs.  he dont sell millions and he dont go 3x platinum these days but he makes the music i luv. i also have much respect for all the bay cats and several others from the leftcoast like ATL, 4LIFE Rec or Eiht. i dont care if the go plat, the west can also stay underground, i really dont care. fact is that westcoast rap will never die! i dont need to see all the artists on radio & tv stations. aslong as i can hear that music (new or old) in my ride and at home its all good. then i´m feelin fine.  :)
