i gotta go with Hakeem because of his amazing footwork and athleticism....plus when he was older he swept Shaq in the finals when Shaq was at his best physically (although not basketball IQ wise)
btw how was Shaq not an all star in 1998-1999? lmao
-
Skill-wise Hakeem was definitely the better one - great range along with the best set of moves I've ever seen from a big man, plus footwork of a guard. Shaq in his prime was unstoppable in the paint and was probably the greatest center ever body-wise.
I would take Hakeem tho, because he had more options to score than Shaq, was as good on rebounds, but much better on defense, plus don't forget he had more steals than 3/4 guards in the league :D

They are both Muslims too, btw

I never even knew that about Shaq. Wonder how seriously he takes it.

Not very, he calls himself a man of all religions. He was raised Muslim by his stepfather. His mom is still Baptist, but Shaq has claimed being Muslim since he was first known. He still calls himself Muslim. I think though he is as Muslim as many are Catholic in the US. He's raised Muslim, maybe practices it, but isn't a devolt hardcore Muslim. With that said, he still is Muslim and his faith is his faith and I am not one to judge because in his personal life maybe there is more to him that what we see.

Hakeem is probably better. But more important, Hakeem and Shaq are both great people.

Shaq's a great person? I like the guy and think he was great for the game, but a suspect character throughout his career.

Shaq has great character. Shaq is loved throughout the world, as much for his character as his ball skillz. How you figure his character is suspect?

LOL, you seems to make Shaq more than he actually is. Dude's hillarious and fun to watch, but also often immature even tho he's past 40 - some of his past actions were typical for a spoiled rich brat.

Yeah, you can look at almost every stop in his career. And all the dirt he threw in that book he put out a few years ago.
-
the shit he pulled with kobe, but he seems to have grown since then
LOL, yeah like it was everything Shaq. They were both immature and selfish as fuck - instead of putting all the bs to rest, shut the fuck up, play together to win more rings, they decided to play that "who's the man" game with one another, throwing eachother under the buss on numerous occasions.
I know it's hard for you to be objective in any topic that's Mr. Bryant's-related, but they both deserve 50/50 blame for that shit - it was silly and should've never happen.

Fuck a Shaq.

IT'S BEEN MADE PRETTY DAMN CLEAR THAT SHAQ SHOULDA PUT EGO ASIDE AND LET KOBE LEAD THE TEAM WHEN IT WAS TIME.....INSTEAD, HE WANTED A MAX CONTRACT WHEN HE WAS ALREADY COMING IN TO CAMP OUT OF SHAPE EVERY YEAR, AND PROVED TO BE PAST HIS PRIME.. DISRESPECTED JERRY BUSS BY YELLING AT HIM "PAY ME MUTHAFUCKA!" IN A PRESEASON GAME, CLAIMED TO NOT PLAY DEFENSE OR REBOUND IF THE OFFENSE DIDN'T RUN THROUGH HIM, ON TOP OF COUNTLESS OTHER IMMATURE GAMES HE PULLED AT THE TIME...SIMPLY PUT, HE WASN'T WILLING TO TAKE A BACKSEAT TO KOBE, WHO WAS ON TOP OF HIS GAME AND JUST ENTERING HIS PRIME, ALL DUE TO PRIDE ISSUES. I THINK EVEN SHAQ HAS REALIZED THIS BY NOW, SO I DUNO WTF U TRYNA ARGUE HERE.....
THERE IS NO 50-50 BLAME LMAO, IT'S QUITE SIMPLE...SHAQ SHOULDA TAKEN A BACKSEAT TO KOBE WHEN MANAGEMENT AND PHIL JACKSON WANTED HIM TO, BUT HE COULDN'T DO IT. THATS WHY KAREEM IS KAREEM AND SHAQ IS SHAQ. KOBE PLAYED HIS PART TO A T AND WAS STUNTED FOR YEARS BY THE IMMATURITY OF SHAQ.

Because Kobe 2000, a year after Shaq dominated the league, Kobe didn't say the ball should go through him, or call started calling Shaq out of shape that year even though the Lakers would go on to win 2 more titles and just won their first. Yeah Shaq started it because Kobe was getting more popular with the younger fans and Kobe's jersey sales were better, eventually Shaq's health would decrease from Shaq being out of shape and Kobe would get better numbers and Shaq would start yelling "pay me" all well getting Eddie Jones, Kobe's best friend in the locker room, traded for Glenn Rice (Shaq's friend) well having his other friends like Brian Shaq signed. So yeah, It was majority Shaq, but Kobe was also at fault.
Typical Kobe fan, Kobe is never at fault. Get off his balls.

lol u got shit twisted, kobe never said the ball should go through him UNTIL Phil Jackson called for it....and didn't call Shaq fat and out of shape until Shaq's bitchass remark of "i got injured on company time and i'll heal on company time"...and that's when Kobe (and Laker management) had enough, because Kobe was the consummate professional and had the exact opposite mindset, which bodes well for the Lakers, while Shaq coulda been the best ever if he even had half of Kobe's work ethic. Fact of the matter is, it's a pretty accepted notion by now that Shaq's immaturity and excess pride is what ultimately led to his demise....but u can tell Shaq has matured since and shows mad love to Kobe at any chance he gets, cuz he knows he fucked up...even went on to exclaim that they woulda had 5 or 6 titles together had he never demanded that trade....don't let hack egg you on, he's a known troll around here and ur feeding into his anti-Laker bs again.

Shaq knows he fucked up. And he's jealousy over Kobe's growing popularity of the time lead to so stupid shit. I mean, imagine if Eddie Jones stayed on the Lakers, but Shaq wanted Eddie gone because he was Kobe's best friend of the time. Shaq had his own people brought in, Rice, Shaw, Grant. But there is a reason Kobe was not liked in the locker room, not just by Shaq. He was immature, which is understandable by a 20 year old, and he did demand the ball in 2000 after Shaq came in out of shape. But Shaq was not breaking down in 2000, Shaq was still on top of his game. Plus Phil wrote in depth of the trouble in coaching Kobe Bryant of that era. Or have we forgot about the book, The Last Season: A Team in Search of Its Soul.
Phil: "Kobe can be consumed with surprising anger, which he's displayed toward me and toward his teammates....He rebels against authority."
Before that season, before Kobe sang like a bird in heat to the cops about Shaq, Kobe was seen as a player who no one liked. When everyone doesn't like you, you eventually have to ask yourself if it's them or if it's you. In this case, it was Kobe. I will give Shaq that majority of the blame, at his age during that time, he should have been an adult. But for Kobe it was a product of not knowing how to adjust to the culture and not making himself more available to his teammates outside the court. Kobe shares some blame for continuing the feud instead of trying to end it.

once again, u got shit twisted.....I read "The Last Season"...did u? NO ONE on the Lakeshow, outside of Shaq, had a problem with Kobe. The thing with Kobe is that he's always been anti-social and kept to himself...but at the same time, he didn't have any enemies (outside of Shaq, who couldn't deal with Kobe's alpha male nature)....even Byron Scott said he was stunned by how professional and mature Kobe was as a rookie and talked about how he always favored him + took him under his wing in that very book....so in essence, what ur doing is twisting Kobe being anti-social and quiet with people not liking Kobe, which was never the case.....also, Phil Jackson later went on to say that those same things he said about Kobe are what made him great, even adding an excerpt to that book just to clarify what he said. "everyone didn't like him" is a lie on ur behalf...shaq has made way more enemies during his time in the NBA than kobe ever has, and thats an indisputable truth.
-
There are plenty of people on record for how they feel about Kobe and it shouldn't matter from what team they were on. Maybe Kobe used to be a good team mate and turned into a dick? who knows. either way it's clear he's a bad team mate since even Phil Jackson criticized him in his book.

Lakers got Pau Gasol, the Grizzlies got Marc Gasol. A GREAT move by both teams. Both teams needed a Gasol, but the Grizzlies were rebuilding so the younger Gasol made sense, the Lakers needed to win now so the older Gasol made sense. The Grizzlies also got Kwame Brown to trade and Javaris Crittenton and Aaron McKie, plus a second round draft pick. That my friend was a win/win for both teams.

i gotta go with Hakeem because of his amazing footwork and athleticism....plus when he was older he swept Shaq in the finals when Shaq was at his best physically (although not basketball IQ wise)
btw how was Shaq not an all star in 1998-1999? lmao

well this much is clear, infinite you dont watch any basketball. Shaq is an immature man child, that still hasnt matured. this is coming from a guy that bleeds purple and gold, who idolized shaq as my favorite player when growing up, went to see all his crappy movies, downloaded all his albums (which werent bad)
but hes petty, selfish, and attention seeking.
the shit he pulled with kobe, but he seems to have grown since then
LOL, yeah like it was everything Shaq.
Bryant's-related, but they both deserve 50/50 blame for that shit - it was silly and should've never happen.
well, kobe was what? 20? 21? cant really blame him, shaq should of been the more mature, wise, and more adult like, but its prob safe to say his mental age was of less than kobe.
any ways on topic, like everyone prob hakeem and when we talk about VS im thinkin team game, fuck that 1 on 1 shit who cares about that, it doesnt relate to real games because there isnt 4 other players on the floor.
i think if they had the exact same teammates, its going to be quite close but hakeems going to have a hard time guarding shaq downlow especially if he gets position deep inside the paint.
but just like kareem, if shaq was going up against hakeem on the other end, its just no way shaq would be able to guard him, hes just too fast and too smart with his fakes. he'd have to foul every time.

I'm with you. I was/am a huge Shaq fan. I knew the better move was to keep Kobe, but Shaq was my favorite player. I found it weird though that he burnt every bridge of every team he was on. Shaq left Orlando, calling it a dried up pond and saying he didn't respect coach Brian Hill and he grew jealous of Penny's growing popularity. In LA, he started to grow jealous of Kobe's jersey sales and he wanted the ball more, and he basically was calling the shots by getting any friend of Kobe's traded for his own friends. He demanded a trade when he felt the Lakers were catering to Kobe. He won a title with the Heat, but then he started to get lazy and out of shape and pick up on injuries as a result. Pat Riley expects more out of his players and this led to Riley and Shaq almost fighting. So Shaq gets shipped out to the Suns. That's when Shaq starts to mature a bit. He was a good citizen on the Suns, traded because of cost really. He goes to the Cavs, defers to LeBron the way he should have deferred to Kobe, became a free agent and was signed to the Celtics were he was injured prone and quietly ended his career. So yeah, at the end, he matured, but he was the most immature star. And ask around, I was a Shaq person.

Just like Pau Gasol on the Grizzlies led to several winning seasons.

If were going prime-for-prime - I think Shaq would have a harder time guarding Hakeem than vice-versa. That's because he got waaay more offensive moves while Shaq relies mostly on his power-game. That's one match for the ages (94/95 Hakeem vs. 00/01 Shaq) people would love to watch, but I think the outcome would be similar to that 1995 NBA Finals - Shaq would def hold his own against Hakeem, but "The Dream" would come out on top of that game :)

ur definition of a snitch doesn't hold weight in the streets, young hack......a snitch is some1 who informs against some1 with the intent of getting themselves off by getting the other person persecuted, which wasn't even close to ever happening to shaq.
ur using the square definition of snitch, which more-or-less means "talking shit"

kobe in his prime is about a thousand times better than garnett in his prime.
Jesus fuckin' Christ, would you stop OVERBLOWN everything Kobe-related just for one second? Shit's ridiculous and unredable at the same time.
-
Scitt don't mind Kobe snitching because he would sing like a bird in heat if he was caught by the police.

Dude stop for ONE FUCKIN' SECOND thinking about "KOBE, KOBE, KOBE" and LISTEN FOR FUCK SAKE!
Saying Kobe is A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER than Garnett prime for prime is just RIDICULOUS and:
a) it makes KG look like he was a complete bum with a basketball talent of a Jud Buechler
b) it makes you look like a complete ignorant retard that pretends Kobe Bryant to be a fuckin' God or something.
Either is A, B or you just smokin' something too much making absurd statements like this one. Is it really that fuckin' hard trying to put everything into right perspective for you?
Kobe is a better player than KG and had a better career but HE IS NOT A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER your fuckin' idiot so stop blowing everything up to an absurd propotion!
