Title: Jeru the Damaja appreciation thread
Post by: Hack Wilson - real on March 22, 2014, 06:28:07 PM
while his career certainly plummeted after his first two LP's I feel he had a much needed style/mentality in a rap scene dominated by death row and bad boy

His second album is one of the best hip hop albums of all time. Must admit i never checked fop him beyond that though. Him leaving the foundation i guess?

Was bangin Sun Rises the other day. He's a clever dude and the beats were sick but to be honest the album gets boring towards the end.

damn you should check "wrath of the math", it's even better IMO.

like everybody, i didn't check for him beyond wrath of the math, but these two albums are excellent. I love Jeru's lyrics and style, intelligent and spiritual, in the same vein as Gang Starr and his protégé Afu Ra

I couldn't get into him (no homo). A lot of that throwback East Coast shit was just too dry for my ears.

Jeru is arguably my favorite MC of all time. Absolutely brilliant at his peak.

Some of his great music post his first 2 albums: Check out "Sun Toucher" which features soul armada (or something). Another classic is 99.9%.

It's boring to you cuz you don't get it. I mean Jungle Music is at the end of the album and that song fucking kicks ass.
