Proof of D12 Responds To Royce
Friday - March 28, 2003
J-23
Royce Da 5’9 versus D-12 has quickly become the hottest beef in hip-hop, especially in the D. With each side launching numerous dis songs at one another, and dropping mixtapes within a week of each other; Royce took the liberty of addressing fans via a press release that examined the situation in great detail.

Proof, who was a vocal point of Royce’s press release, has responded in a statement made to sohh. This is what he had to say:

"First and foremost, I knew Royce, before Em knew Royce...He went on a quest to find Em, and that's the flat out truth. He knew Eminem was gonna have a deal and he did what he had to do to try to get somewhere and that's the bottom line. Me and Em is fifteen years deep, and I can't tell Em not to sign 50 Cent, I can't tell Em not to sign Obie Trice, I can't tell Em not to befriend Royce. That ain't my call."

"He's saying we started it but it's all in his statement and he's covering it up with lies. How can we start the beef when he made the first diss three years ago? Come on now... That don't even make sense, then he said that I called his house clicking guns on the phone. Dude is lyin', I don't even know his phone number! The truth of the matter is that he knows that he called my voicemail and my voicemail got me on there clicking hammers and sh!t, so he tried to reverse it on some bullsh!t. That ni99a need to grow the f#@$ up!"

"Man, I told him that he can meet me at any club in Detroit and battle me," Proof said. "He ain't built like that, for no freestyle battle. He'd probably try to kick that ole I tick/scientific wanna be Jay-Z, wish he was 50, type lyrics. He needs to take that sh!t somewhere else, he ain't built for no battle. I go everywhere I wanna go... still in Detroit. At every open mic, I'm there. Anything hip-hop I'm there and I'm not starting nothing. So tell your invisible team to stay invisible or they'll be invisible for real."
