Pharrell says Snoop Dogg is slated to win a Grammy for their work on the Doggfather's upcoming album.
Pharrell, who has been working with Snoop Dogg on the Doggfather's upcoming album, says the effort is slated to be a successful one.
"Snoop's album is better than mine," Pharrell says in an interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106's Big Boy's Neighborhood. "It's Snoop Dogg. You're gonna bug out from the approach of what we did. We're almost done. The songs are done. Now I'm just adding the finishing touches...But dude. Snoop's album is better than mine."
The album is slated to feature a theme or concept that Pharrell would like to keep a secret for now.
"If I say the references, I'll just give it away," he says. "I'm so proud of Snoop. It's so jammin'...It's one of those things where it's so obvious that you kind of overlook it. It's so obvious...But it feels so good."
When asked if the album is "Snoop's Grammy," by host Big Boy, Pharrell says "Yeah."
Snoop Dogg and Pharrell have collaborated on several hits, including "Beautiful."
Recently, P spoke about his Snoop collaborations.
"Oh my god, I can't wait," Pharrell said. "We gonna put this on the schedule ASAP. We have to, because seriously, the way you move culture... any other person would have suffered really severe consequences with your affiliation with weed. They would've suffered. But because you've always delivered such a disarming connotation and essence behind your music and behind your intention as a human being, the law fucks with you, but they don't fuck with you the way they really could... I think people can see you're a leader."
Wonder what the title or theme would be? Glad he teamed back up with P, will be looking forward to this

What? It's going to have a bunch of wack ass Pharrell beats. He's a terrible producer. 90's beats = king of them all. He can't touch any of that. Period. Fucking wack ass Pharrell.

did any of y'all bump pharrell's album? dude is on fire with the groovy soulful sounds as of recent. his latest stuff with snoop is gonna evocative of earlier eras, not hip hop but soul & funk. beautiful & lets get blown were huge hits - don't expect hard rap or gfunk but more smooth, mellow, accessible records.

Snoop and Pharrell have done some great songs together and they have done some bad songs too. Let's just wait and see what they come up with.

lol, grammys are as mainstream as it gets. pharrell has had that robin thicke joint and happy blow up internationally...even dre hasn't moved people like that for years, besides the kendrick LP.

He did the beat for Good Kid on GKMC and that was a tight beat so theres no telling what sound he'll go with cause that sounded nothing like what he's been doing lately.

Yep, Pharrell is definitely the producer of the moment and my interest in Snoop was reignited when I got the '7 Days of Funk' project. I can see Snoop's new stuff continuing in that vein with P offering him more soulful, smooth beats like you said.

yup another hint is P comparing the project directly to his own album, saying it's better. don't think he'd be doing that unless it was going into similar musical territory...though i imagine it'll be a new spin on things 8)
