NWA Movie Are Revealed (PICS)

25 years ago, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and Ice Cube were three of the central figures of the inaugural movement of gangster rap that was N.W.A. Today (June 16th) after five years of planning and delays, the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton finally has confirmed their first actors for the roles of the three N.W.A. leaders.
Reports surfaced that Marcus Callendar will play Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell will play Eazy-E and in accordance with Cube’s wishes, his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. will play Ice Cube in the film. Dr. Dre originally desired for Michael B Jordan to play him, however Jordan’s upcoming filming of The Fantastic Four movie conflicted.
Jackson Jr and Callendar have never starred in a film and Mitchell starring in four films from 2011-2013 with 2012′s Mark Walberg-led film Contraband being his biggest role.

I disagree. Obviously he doesn't have the right hairstyle but facially there is definitely a resemblance.
I also think it's better that they use relative unknowns in a role like this. Sometimes in films it can be difficult to imagine a famous actor portraying another famous person in the right way, and in using lesser-known people it can be less distracting in that respect.

That's not Eazy's character, it's Dre's. I think the one playing Eazy has his mouth structure. Once they add the locs, the hat and the jheri curl he'll look just like him.
Not sure about the other ones. Maybe they haven't been cast yet. Can't say these guys aren't real actors they are just unknowns. It would be difficult to get established actors who also look just like the characters. Do you expect Denzel to Play Arabian Prince? lol

They are off to a good start. With Dre's stamp of approval it is going to have to be quality. F. Gary Gray has been around them long enough to do this shit right... I'm pleased with the actors they chose. Should be one of those great generational movies for all the people like me who grew up on the N.W.A. family tree...
I think it's a cool idea to have Cube's son play Cube. I'm sure Ice Cube is happy about that, has to make him proud as a father, and it's got to be really exciting for his son.

They should record some new N.W.A. tracks for the soundtrack, but Dre is on vacation etc...

Cube Jr. looks JUST like his dad. Damn, no DNA test needed!
One thing is, he is really tall, but maybe they need taller actors, because Eazy is suppose to be really short, and I don't know Jason Mitchell's height, but they have to find a way to make him look 5'5".
Also, for casting known actors, hell no. NWA was at it's best when they were young. Cube was 18, Ren was 19, Eazy was 25, Dr. Dre was 23 and Yella was 21. And even the old man, Arabian Prince was 24 in 1988. So they need to cast young actors to fit the spirit of NWA. Cube Jr. maybe a little older than 18 (he's 24), but damn he looks like Ice Cube. It's not even funny.

It was intially reported worldwide that actor Marcus Callender was to assume the role of Dr. Dre but as it’s been discovered, Corey Hawkins actually got the part.

As for the filling in the blanks for the rest of the N.W.A posse, the verdict is still to be announced as Cube pointed out, “Still looking for our MC Ren and DJ Yella.”
