Yup, we're sophisticated. Rocking khakis, chucks and doo rags with a crisp wifebeater....
... In 8 degree weather in Germany. Westside ;D
-
in my mind it is still 1996, I never moved on
-
We're nostalgic old timers with good reasons...i thought u knew.
-
And why the hell not... I mean, shit is still coming out from that era.... I've been bumpin LBC Crew Haven't You Heard which is a newer release from WideAwake. Shit is bangin and superior to anything coming out these days.

Because "new west" = "new south". F all these sell out biters, Cube included.

true.. the New West isn't really tight anyway.. I don't wanna diss cause I still support the West Coast, I bought Kendricks album because it was Dre, Aftermath, West Coast...but even Kendricks hit album I threw away after the first 4 tracks because it sounded too much like south shit
...Even Snoop and the Outlawz got together and did some sort of Trap music and that shit was wack. Some of the only new shit I liked was Snoop's Reincarnation album but that was of course a Reggae/Rasta vibe

you don't even listen to most Cali rap music rom the golden era
someone suggests Brotha lynch and you ignorantly say "he's from the bay area" (When he's from sac town smh)
you oughta expand your rap horizons, sir.

LOL@me needing to expand my horizons by way of listening to Brotha Lynch Hung. Maybe your a superficial person so you don't really get deep into albums, you just bump them a few times and then on to the next artist.... or maybe I don't know Brother Lynch Hung but I can recite every line from Ras Kass Soul On Ice

just like that alias account that you claimed wasn't yours despite the soul on ice signature?
what does ras kass even have to do with bay area rap again?? :D

He doesn't have anything to do with the Bay... My point was that you may have listened to Bay Area rap I haven't heard... but I've also listen to a lot of rappers you either haven't heard, or maybe just listened to once or twice superficially—without really getting deep into their music

you use Ras Kass as a clutch like he's some super secret underground rap weapon that nobody has heard of.......are you trolling at that point??

I listen to way more new stuff than old stuff, but I know that I won't listen to it much after a year or so. Relevant or not, a lot of the new stuff lacks the stuff that makes it classic. I bumped YG's shit A LOT and still do. But I'm pretty sure that I probably won't play it much by the end of the year, and My Nigga and Who Do U Love probably won't still be setting the club off in five years. They might play whatever new YG song there is (assuming his shelf life makes it that long), but his older stuff isn't going to get spins. Kendrick might.
Go to a club in Vegas (assuming they are playing rap that night and not just the electronic stuff), and you will very likely hear California Love, Nuthin but a G Thang, What's My Name, etc. throughout the course of the night. But you will hear almost no other West Coast rap from any point in between then and the current year's music, as very little of it has had replay value later through the years. Stuff like We Can Freak It, Who Ride wit Us, Drop It Like It's Hot, Pitch in ona Party were all solid club bangers and from legendary emcees who coincidentally all had involvement with Death Row, but even those ones don't get that same classic status. And that's why we reminisce so much on the old stuff. And not even the club songs, even the hardcore shit too. Bicken Back Being Bool is a hard ass song (and ten times more gangsta than any shit Game ever put out), but outside of Blood hoods, no one will bump it next year, whereas songs like Ambitionz az a Ridah and Gin & Juice will still get played in the car.

the new west is winning in the streets right now.yg album was dope as fucc, kendeick, schoolboy q,nipsey,dj mustard is all winning right now
-
Suga Free is still putting out true West Coast music and being original. "Gotta Get It" has great production.
-
There's still 'NEW" shit I listen to but the overall quality has decreased. Especially when you talk about the shit they play on the radio. An Era like the 90's will never be back. Now a days you just need to pick and choose what you like. There's a lot more trash nowadays though.

That's far from truth - if people took they time and effort to check out New West rappers from Oakland to Southern Cali, they would discover some talented rappers with dope music.
